Canadian Prepper I have knowledge to share. MOLEKULE.com they don’t use HEPA filters like commonly used in the US. Instead they use PICO filters which are electrically powered filters that can remove VOCs and Airborne viruses and other things like mold spores and allergens and more. 1 PICO filter lasts for MONTHS.
If you could work with MOLEKULE and with DevTac designs to make your awesome Gas Mask a full helmet with a rechargeable reusable battery bank, using the PICO filter, you guys could reach even higher levels of protection. One PICO filter lasts for months.
I love your product as it is now. It’s simple and straight forward. Just wanted to share some knowledge. Wish I could invest in you guys to make this happen but I can’t afford that rn.

    • @nameremoved4010
      @nameremoved4010 5 лет назад

There a number of polymer mixtures used for the face seal. As I recall it, silicone was less subject to degradation than other soft seals aka elastomers. Silicone certainly forms more tightly to the face than just plain old rubber and is likely better than what is used in cheaper respirators. Further some people react to latex rubber but not nitrile or silicone.

keep in mind a 30$ isreali civilian gas mask with proper cbrn filters can accomplish what this mask can do, what you're really paying for is comfort, the ability to aim down a rifle comfortably and higher visibility, so you dont *need* this gas mask and there are masks that are about 80% as good and can accomplish to a reasonable degree what this mask can for way less than this one, the main perk i see to this one is it'd be more comfortable (i assume) to wear for *VERY* extended periods of time

Air quality in a post collapse will be dubious at best. Without regular maintenance and security, ...there are far too many chemical plants, storage facilities, gas wells, industrial facilities, military installations, research facilities, ...etc., ...that will fall into disrepair, succumb to vandalism, and suffer a variety of other containment failures. Not to mention a never ending series of both structure and wild fires. We have determined this much to be an absolute certainty. And we very seldomly say "...an absolute certainty." NBC protection is an absolute must have.

I've been training with it while doing running and shooting drills. It sits tight on my face. Side note though, you better use a red dot/holographic sight on your rifle when using this mask as it's kinda hard to have a good sight picture and nice cheek weld on your rifle buttstock while wearing this polycarbonate mask. I've been using the CF C4 gas mask before for training and combat drills and it was easier to have a better cheek weld on my C8 for shooting but peripheral vision was way better on the Mestel than on the CF C4 mask's which only have two lenses... But remember that every masks are different, some may seal very good, the sizing matters too, how you tighten the straps, the state of the seals and so on. It's recommended to go clean shaven or at most a mustache, but personally I'm not a fan of it since it creates micro cuts/irritations in the skin which let's bacteria and shit go in and create infected pimples as a result. Trimmed as short as possible is what I prefer, better for skin hygiene. Especially since our skins already produce sebum oil which is a natural protector against various nasty things. Shaving clean everyday is really bad.

While the fires were limited to relatively small areas, the smoke extended to major metro areas like San Francisco. Most city dwellers had NO protection, and were forced to improvise with "painter's masks", bandanas, or just stay indoors. I have this mask for more than 20 years now, used it for working underwater. It is a great product and its money worth. The only weak point is the plastic ring framing the mask and holding the straps, which seems to become somewhat brittle over time. Mine broke eventually. Please handle with care as if it were a piece of medical equipment. Best is not leaving it in the bag that's coming with it, instead, store it in a sturdy container (dry and away from sunlight), so the strap attachments can't get crushed. And keep the tools separate, so they don't scratch or pierce anything. If you choose this mask, be aware that the curvature of the clear plastic causes a distortion of your peripheral vision. You get used to it by turning your head, but some don't like it.

But GP are not compatible with NATO filters, better buy the Chinese version (and they sold new items, not used or old stocks)

The world record for not eating any food is 382 days. 3 weeks is nothing people. You don't need food, or at least not that much of it. Google to guy who went that long. It was under medical supervision in a hospital setting and fully documented with blood tests and physical examinations throughout.

Additionally, you can purchase eye glasses frame that works with that type of mask, and have your eye doctor fit in the lenses for you. 😎

I wouldn't buy a gas mask that doesn't cover my head. Many types of gas are dangerous not only to breathe in but also to contact your skin. I would go for the "old school " low visibility ones. Much more stable on the head (try close combat with that one and you will find the difference ) , 10 times cheaper (you can store more) , more skin protection and if you have to go through radioactive area you don't need that contaminated mask back to your shelter!

Don't Vacume Seal it Till it Breaks! But you can definitely Vacuum Seal It!!! I actually would if you were to do long term..it plastic gets dust affected, most dust is Metal or other contaminates... That's the worst thing in one of those masks!

Hello my friend, I noted where you talked about mustard gas in here. They (Mestel) claim that the SGE 400/3 B is mustard gas proof for a matter of hours. The face gasket is a Butyl rubber rather than silicone and therefore will stand up to mustard better. I agree with you that the chance of mustard attack is very slim, but I bought it anyway. That said the mask alone will not help against mustard, one needs the whole hood and suit as your skin would burn so bad you couldnt stand it. Hey love your channel…I just started watchin you about a week ago. Ive seen you on here for a long time, but you know how that goes, we have our favorite channels that we click and just pass other things up. But i have enjoyed all that IO’ve watched on your channel so far…cheers!

I haven't messed around with gas masks since being in the military back in late 1979-80.
Back then we utilized the M17.
Filter elements were secured inside the "cheeks".
But in order to change them out, you had to remove the mask..That could pose serious risk if the environment was still effected by CBR contamination.
Was a very dependable mask in it's day though.
But I don't know anything about modern ones..

Are there child sizes??? I can’t find any gas masks for my children. If I can’t buy any for them, I won’t buy one for myself. I have a two year old and a six year old. They are my world, and the reason I became a prepper. ❤️

6 year old, maybe the smallest sizes (some models have a small size, and some Ex
soviet - or chinese have children sizes - avoid the ex soviet, since they dont have the same thread). 2 year, a PAPR hood designed for children (as the Israeli one) - expensive. Feel free to ask me.

The soviets made a lot of child size masks, however these do not use a standardised nato thread.
I would largely ignore most of the stuff this guy says in the video, try an s10, they come with a side mounted 40mm nato filter. They normally cost around 30 to 50 british pounds depending on grade and age

Mylar bag? How easy is it find one. What's best type. I received a good quality mask in a box. I don't want to use it now but store it safely. The bag suggested sounds like good idea. Would air tight, hardened container be better?
Also, company that I bought from (MIRA) sent mask with only one 40mm valve screw cap. Back and forth e-mails concluded with them politely refusing to send a second cap! Told me to unwrap one of two filters I bought from them and screw that in one side. Told them I wanted to preserve two filters ($$$) and had no need to rip open filter...just send me screw cap! Nope. Then they say I should buy an airtight container to store it in. Despite being pleased with CM7 mask (despite four-month wait), they've likely lost a customer due to this bullshit. I can't believe 40mm screw caps are that hard to come by in their line of business!

    Great video. I
This is a great primer. Respiratory protection is a very complex topic. APR respirators are base on assigned protection factors not filtering. Have not loot at these filters typical APR
Assigned protection factor (APF) means the work- place level of respiratory protection that a respirator or class of respirators is expected to provide to em- ployees when the employer implements a continu- ing, effective respiratory protection program as specified by this section.
A full face APR usually has an APF OF 50. Where as no protection has an APF of 1. The claim of six days needs qualification, what filter? What was the toxin, what concentration. All filters have a maximal useable concentration. If you have a mask you best be having detection equipment. There are tons of individual paper testing kits out there... CBRNE strips, and TICs and TIMs.
Yes it The respiratory pro is the first step, next is the suit, then gloves, then boots, then once you have been contaminated how do you deacon? How do you know the hot and cold zone boundaries.
Great intro to CBRNE, but depending on how much you want to know I would think minimum would be 3 8 hr days up to 18 months for a full operator.
