    I used an M40 in the army, and a couple years ago I decided to buy myself one "just in case". It cost me well over $400 because I did not want my main mask to be used surplus. I'm not taking any chances- it had to be new in box, still sealed. I almost bought a MIRA mask, but as the saying goes, "go with what you know". I wouldnt mind another mask for the car or something, and I keep looking at that CM-7M. Point is, they arent overpriced. If anything, they are remarkably average-priced.

    For a product idea, I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see something that covers the entire head. Ears are susceptible to biohazards, and viruses can get through the membrane of the ear. While it's not likely someone is going to get infected that way, the ear CAN be a weak point. I know there are some russian elephant masks that to offer full head protection, so personally I'd like something like that. Plus, there can be child versions of that as well. A gas mask can be easily slipped off by a fussy child, a full skull covering mask can't. There are videos on youtube showing actual infants, only a few months old able to grip, and create gaps in suction utensils used to feed them.
    I'm in the market for masks, so I'll check out the website for sure.

    How about survey meters that go to 1,000 Roentgens per hour? That's what you need when it gets hot, so you know if you are getting away. The keychain Nukalerts, once activated, take 15-30 minutes to calm down their chirping. Like at 500 R/hr where I had mine tested. During the cooldown period, you don't know if you are fleeing to a place that is better or worse. If you get caught out in the open, you have no basement or shelter to run to until you get there, so while you are still driving to a safe place you have to have a high dose radiation instrument to find out if your driving strategy is making things better or not.

    • @UncleDon226
      @UncleDon226 4 месяца назад

      1,000R/hr? Brother, if you get anywhere near that end of the scale, you'll have days to live. While those meters do exist, they are usually a few thousand dollars. There wouldnt be enough of a market for them to justify the cost of developing their own. Almost everyone would be better served with a dosimeter rather than a survey meter, since a survey meter cant keep track of your accumulated dose like the MIRA one can. Those Nukalerts are a novelty in my opinion since there is no display. If you dont have the $1,000 to $2,000 to spend on a survey meter, just get an old Civil Defense CD V-715 and have it calibrated. Costs a couple hundred bucks total and it gives you a range of 50-500r/hr. Basically, if the needle moves, get out. If the needle is pinned at 500, you're cooked. Simple as.

    • @jackieow
      @jackieow 4 месяца назад

      Nukalert used to make digital meters that went up to 700 R/hr for about $750. They can give you a new digital readout in about 10 seconds, so if you are in a hot zone you know whether you are prospecting into an area that is better or worse as you try to flee. And that is what a person needs to know -- I know I have a problem, am I making it better or worse? What can get people killed is a meter that saturates past a few R/hr and then when you move you don't know how better or worse it is getting.
      Not enough of a market? I got one and I'm ready for more for family members. As soon as North Korea detonated its first nuke, the company went to government sales only. Then took them off their advertising page. In other words the government knows how valuable they are, and peasants like you and me don't get any because there is such a high demand among the people who know what is worth having. These digital Nukalerts have dosimeters built in, so you get the best of both worlds in one package. You can set it up to get both types of data (rate and accumulated dosage) and just flip screens according to what you want to know.
      With a dosimeter of the pen type, once it decays down to zero you are no longer knowing anything unless you bring the recharger with you. As you are driving off in a panic trying to find some relief, you don't have time to keep peeking at your dosimeter and trying to calculate whether your latest exposure rate is getting better or you are driving along a suicidal gradient. If it is the pen type it becomes worthless once it decays down to zero, unless you carry the recharger around and can get it to work, so you might as well have a digital rate + dose meter which is exactly what the good old Nukalerts (digital version) were.
      The old surplus Victoreen Civil Defense survey meters are getting to be half a century old, are large and clunky to advertise to desperadoes who to come kill and rob to get their own, depend on weird 22.5 volt batteries, and are of limited and dwindling supply. The keychain Nukalerts will keep functioning up to 2,000 R/hr or so, but don't quiet down fast enough to let you know whether you have gotten in a safe place. If you are near a good bomb shelter you don't need any of this until 2-3 weeks later when you want a spot check on how safe it might be to come out. But on attack day if you are out in the open you may (may = accidents happen by not anticipating the possibilities) not have any bomb shelter or cave to arrive at for the next hour or two. If you can't follow your local radiation gradient trends as you move, that lack of information can be fatal. He who is ready for what is expected is not ready for the surprises of Murphy's Law, and in the case of nuclear radiation is fully prepped for the Darwin Award.@@UncleDon226

    How long does the filtration system last, and how often do you have to change it let's say in a scenario there were gas in the air or a nuclear bomb exploded how long can you keep that filter on your mask until you need to change it for a new one.

    • @UncleDon226
      @UncleDon226 4 месяца назад

      There are too many variables, such as how much you are breathing, what toxins are in the air, how much dust is in the air, etc. A very rough estimate is 8 hours of use. Might be 5 hours, might be 15 hours. You'll know when it's time to replace because breathing will become pretty difficult through a dirty filter.

      @@jeremykaufman4116 this was on the web.
      They generally last 12-24 hours, but they can last far less time if you're in highly contaminated areas. Filters essentially last until they're too clogged, damaged or soiled, but they're also limited by the concentration of certain airborne contaminants so environmental factors play a huge role.

    • @MIRASafety
      @MIRASafety 4 месяца назад

      So no one can give you a real estimate as to how long your filter will last in use due to the fact that this is dependent on a variety of factors that would be specific to your situation. Keep in mind, when a filter is opened from its seal, the filter is effectively always on. It is constantly filtering the ambient air. So while our website has product listings for each filter that gives rough estimations on certain kinds of CBRN agents and their breakthrough times, different factors affect the lifespan including contaminant type, concentration of the contaminant, the airflow rate in the filter along with atmospheric conditions.
      If you are wanting to save a filter and it has NOT been exposed to any serious CBRN agent, you can seal them in ziploc bags to help extend its life. The best practice we've heard of is vacuum sealing or having a specialized airtight container For training purposes, people do this often and designate that one filter separately from their stockpile. Though we cannot guarantee any specific period of time of safe usage after you open it. I will add, through a non scientific testing from a CBRN consultant who actually took one of our masks and our NBC-77 SOF filter attached, he left it in his car for a full year, through intense winters and summers, snow and extreme heat. Then he took the mask, put it on and tear gassed himself in a building to test the effectiveness.
      The mask and filter performed well without a hitch. His conclusion was that as long as the filter is not exposed to an extreme CBRN agent like sarin gas that would actively degrade the filter, he is able to have this filter outside with ambient air without any real issues for a full year. Once a filter is exposed to something extreme, it is highly advise to get rid of that filter for safety reasons. @@jeremykaufman4116

      There are filters that can be purchased that do the same as the Mira gas masks. Set up a room that you can 'pressurize' with the filter (like a furnace filter but CBRN) and you would have a space to be able to stay in. The Secure Home by M. Skousen, Joel has the information in it. A blower could be used to push air through the filter. It's not like being able to move about but at least it is clean air in a room.

      @@MIRASafety I’m fully aware as I own a 6m. I’m in the market for second 7m or 8m mask. Still undecided. I also own (6) NBC 77filters and (1)VK-530 filter. I’ll be honest. I was quite upset after I spent over 500 on the NBC-77 filter and you guys released the better VK-530 which also does smoke. Not sure why anyone would buy the nbc -77 since the other is better. On a side note I only made the comment about alt brands because since I now have so many filters and since I’m about to own a second mask for tactical reasons I was considering another “just incase” cheap mask to keep in various places if needed. Before I buy the 7 or 8m I’m Just waiting for discounts to come out. I’ve spent a fortune at Mira for my safety. Your product is great. Just a recommendation. You should include atleast one glass protector for the price you charge. It would be a nice gesture or atleast a cheap mesh bag for anti scratching while in storage. I’m a fan and I’m rooting for you guys to do well. But you can do a bit more.

      @@MIRASafety I actually think/now that Dräger Mask are build in EU-Norm (German Company So DIN-NORM) wich makes them more safe than your ISO (Or the funny US laws you have, wich are in most cases less effectiv). So i would argue i recommend a better mask wich they are (For Internation standards they are actually expensive, but not the fake trademark expensive wich you have and even cheaper) so people buy a better product for cheaper money. AND THE WORST CASE I DONT GET PAID FOR MY OPINION!!! i just tell some facts.And lets be honest how many time companys srewed over customers for money (Not only US)

    So I never understood why people buy mask for radiological and nuclear events can someone explain why the mask will protect you in these instances? I thought that the radiation rays will liquify your guts with or with out the mask? Like in Chernobyl also is nuclear and radiation the same thing? am I missing something? I get the CB part but radiological and nuclear dont make sense 😂

      In the best case, the suits, mask and filters are protecting you from alpha and beta radiation which can be easily stopped but will do damage if inhaled, ingested..etc.
      It also keeps radioactive fallout and dust off of your skin, which improves your chances and makes decontamination easier.

      Our pricing is reflective of the high quality, professional grade materials, modern features, as well as the guarantee of immediate out of the box reliability.
      Our adult sized masks come with advanced capabilities such as our integrated hydration valve, speech diaphragm for verbal communication, comms equipment compatibility, bromobutyl rubber that is highly resistant against blistering agents, anti fogging technology, and full usage with modern helmets.
      Our closest competitors for the same value of protection and quality of life features are much more expensive, some even use proprietary filters which are not easy to find at good prices, and are almost guaranteed to be unreliable surplus.
      You get what you pay for in this market, we guarantee quality with ours. So while you're more than welcome to waste your money on a cheap, used, and outdated gas mask that has no warranty and no guarantee of functional use, you're essentially gambling with your life to save a buck.
      For those working on a restricted budget, we also have a deferred payment plan that will allow customers to get what they need now and pay it off later in monthly installments. Just select Affirm at checkout.

    *_BUYER BEWARE!_*
    Mira Safety sells their products online under the condition of "all sales are final". This is not clearly indicated on the product description page or on the checkout page. I hold a Master of Business Administration degree, and consider this practice predatory! Their CM-8M (which comes in one size) appears to be much smaller than a US Army medium M-17A1 protective mask.
    *_Mira Safety does not accept returns!!!_*

      It isnt shady business, it's a safety concern. It would be incredibly irresponsible for them to take a used mask back because it didnt fit, then repackage it for another customer. I'm not saying you would have tampered with it, but the possibility is there. MSA, Honeywell, even Amazon doesnt accept returns on gas masks or filters. You would think someone with a master's degree would have known that.
