Happy to see you post another video of you working in the garage. Your videos are better than most I can watch on traditional tv. Keep it up, they keep me motivated to wrench in my own garage and do road/off-road trips.
I've been looking forward to seeing more of this build! That steering is super impressive, talk about beef. Also, I still can't get over how clean that thing is underneath!!!
Your video motivated me to fix my aged suspension on my 02 Tahoe. Completely upgraded with all Kryptonite products and what an improvement! We just did a camping trip and it feels like a whole new Tahoe. Thanks for the videos!
It’s Tool Box Buddy for life!! Seriously though, it’s great to see you back in the garage. Hope you’re doing well! Thank you for all the work you put into these videos.
My Goodness - the underside looks brand new - sooo clean!!! That Kryptonite setup is awesome - going to order their kit for my daughters 2005 2500 Silverado for Christmas ...
Thanks for sharing your kryptonites. Never knew these existed till now , I've always used moog or ac Delcos but my pitman and idler arm always the first to prematurely wear out. Gonna have to give these kryptos a try , ..I got a redhead myself worth every dime.
“While I’m here” led me to multiple, way over the top rebuilds on multiple vehicles. My leveling my 2016 Ram ended up with Bilstein 6112 struts, Mevotech lowers, Icon uppers, and a 3:21 to 3:92 front diff housing swap. In the rear I ended up with Bilstein 1” coils, Bilstein 5160s, Hellwig rear sway bar, Core 4x4 Tier 3 upper and lower control arms and AirLift rear air bags with a remote pump setup. Oh yea…. 3:92 gear swap and a Yukon posi to match the front. I won’t even talk about my LS swapped JK… 😳
Hey Jason, good to see you back and on Tahoe project. You are missed by a lot of people. Over-kill? I like over-kill. Keep'em coming while you're there.....ha ha
Hey Jason!!! Glad to see the AutoEdits Garage back with a new video. I figured you had lots on the go, but the Tahoe update is much appreciated, and hopefully that eye heals up quickly. I hope you're doing well, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have on the go.
@@AutoEditswell I did the Kryptonite steering as well as the Red Head. Also replaced everything else front and back. Beyond happy with the handling now. Thank you so much again for your fantastic content. I hope to see more Tahoe adventures on your channel!
Seriously I have a 99 Tahoe and watching you is really convincing me to do the same. I've been debating on building off road Tahoe for the Colorado terrains lol
That's some serious steering Jason . I'm putting together some heavy duty steering form Metal Cloak for my Jeep TJ . I went thru some really bad death wobble in it the beginning of this year. So I have been putting together a bunch of parts for next springs tare down. So the while I'm here is, well might as well get new wheels ( Vision Manx ) , new wheel hubs , new ball joints , new steering gear box , new lift springs ( changing to metal cloak ) , new powerstop brakes , well you get the idea . Looking forward to your next video sir. Take care and be safe sir .
Great to see you back on RUclips Jason! I used your videos in the past as my "how to" videos and they have been referenced often. Unfortunately, it's almost like us keyboard warriors are reading between the lines what has been going on in your life in the last few months. Hope you are hanging in there and you will be back on your feet soon! Stay positive...
6:45 That's just rust proofing. Don't forget the rag joint at the steering box as well. They tend to wear out. Borgeson makes a replacement shaft (both lower and upper) if you don't want to track down a DIY U-joint solution.
That's a sweet truck brother, nice wwork. I just don't know how you trust those 4 jackstands! I always slide my tires underneath the hubs or frame just in case!
I have a 2006 Mazda Speed 6 that needed a new CV axle in the front. I put it on jack stands and... "While I was there..." I noticed the driver's side upper control arms, ball joints, and sway bar end links needed to be replaced. This lead to a full suspension rebuild because the parts were exactly as you stated -just cheap enough to empty my pockets. In the end it was worth it, but I cried as I looked at the total. lol
I'm a "while I'm here" kind of guy when it comes to front suspension or steering components. Because you need to pay for an alignment after touching almost any of it each time. I also like to overbuild for peace of mind down the road when possible!
Good luck with the Redhead steering box, my started leaking just after the warranty period. There are many more people who had other problems. It’s best to use the Gm original. I had the same kryptonite steering components for my 02 Duramax great stuff for racing heavy trucks.
Yeah, had death wobble on my ‘08JKuR, so once I started replacing track bar bushings, it just cascaded into everything else in the front end. Individually it was all so cheap and I saved so much time and hassle doing it all at once …
Just a small suggestion, get a small folding table that's easily storable so you don't have to get down on the floor like that. They make some that fold in half also.
Jason, I’m at the same point on my Firebird, I know I need everything for my front end! Because while I’m in there I only want to do this once. There is no sense updating the steering with out control arms and of course coilovers! Do that over time and you’re paying 3 times to align it! Lol
I'm doing this exact setup on mine though I may go with a bluetop steering box instead of the red in addition to another energy suspension bushings kit for my 96. Kryptonite says they have a lot more suspension parts coming for the gmt400's so I am curious to see what they offer eventually. Beefier control arms would be nice.
I realize this comment is a bit late, but I too suffer from extreme cases of “while you’re in there’itus, especially when doing work about the house. Say, have you a documented all the changes and upgrades to your OBS Burban? I’m looking for a replacement of my old 93 K2500 and a list of your changes would give me a great starting point for when I find what I am looking for. Great channel with informative and entertaining videos. Please keep going.
Looks like really good quality stuff. The only problem I have is how much money is possible to dump into the IFS on one of these trucks. Then you’ve still got the weak aluminum 8.25” differential with no traction devices available. It also means being stuck with limited suspension travel, all for the pleasure of spending a lot of money. I think I’d rather just do a solid axle swap with 1 tons, custom leaf springs, and just be done with it.
I want to be able to do all the "while I'm in here" stuff on my project car lol but sadly it's a bit too expensive for this dude. Tahoe looking great though!
Very beginner mechanic hear and my 2dr Tahoe project vehicle front suspension is very bad is there any tools, do you have any videos guiding that front rebuild in detail with tools needed?
I just am seeing your videos and I'm wondering if you ever found a company that makes lower control arms. I have nice 95 2dr yukon. I had to put a decent used one on wich was hard to find. Thanks
Great question... I get them from all over. I absolutely love the Rock Auto interface and will use it to do some research and sometimes I go right to Amazon or the few parts stores near me. All of the things.

Hi Jason I’m new to the channel, I have a 99 Tahoe and I want make some upgrades like yours, tires, front suspension, which steering package will work my 99 Tahoe
Not really worried, if it doesn't come off with an impact wrench... I'll just cut it and replace it. Turns out that once it's connected, it doesn't need to get cut right there anyway
From what I can see, the location for tie rods and center link should be the same for the 2wd version as well. The 4x4 Kryptonite kit tie rod kit should also work for the 2wd. Tell me my logic is wrong? Looks exact too my 2wd, just with out the 4x4 stuff.
I've been waiting for this video gald you didn't get to banged up 😂 still waiting on what you're going to be doing to the rear everything is looking beefy so far
HA! This thing is putting up a fight for sure... thanks... we'll see for the rear. Having to drop the fuel tank to get the rear spring out is a bummer so waiting to get the front end sorted first.
I'm trying to find parts for my 1997 suburban k2500 it's a 454 7.4v8 do you have a company you recommend I wanna rebuild the front and rear suspension also want to put a 7 inch lift.

Hey man, I’m totally glad I came across your channel! Im super impressed with your suspension rebuild and would love to rebuild mine. I have a 99 Tahoe 4x4 and im wondering has anything really changed from the 95 and 99 Tahoe,? suspended wise?
As far as I know, the only difference between the 95 and the 99, is that the 99 would have the electronic shift transfer case instead of a lever, and the "Vortec" 350 instead of TBI. Suspension should all be exactly the same.
I forget, was 99 the last year of the GMT400 body style, or the first year of the GMT800? I feel like I've seen '99 400s, so maybe they even made them both at the same time? GMT400 would have leaves, 800 would have coils.
Jason, What are your thoughts on leveling kits, like the one you installed, effecting the durability of the suspension parts/ roughening up the ride? From what I've read stock keys lift just as much, and both options add lots of strain to the vehicle. I'd love to be wrong, I'm just curious about what you've learned :) Thanks for your help!
Its been about a month, how are you feeling about the torsion key lift? I ask b/c I'm considering the same for my 95 silverado and I'm curious if you'd do it again or go the rough country 4" lift route or something similar. Thanks!

What are your thoughts on leveling kits, like the one you installed, effecting the durability of the suspension parts/ roughening up the ride? From what I've read stock keys lift just as much, and both options add lots of strain to the vehicle.
I'd love to be wrong, I'm just curious about what you've learned :)
Thanks for your help!
All good... we'll find out together. I'm not going for maximum lift with this setup... just 2" and some thoughtful dial in. Let's see how it goes.
Its been about a month, how are you feeling about the torsion key lift? I ask b/c I'm considering the same for my 95 silverado and I'm curious if you'd do it again or go the rough country 4" lift route or something similar. Thanks!
Ugh Jason, I have a gm torsion bar tool. Next time.
Next time bilsteins.
That figures! I see other online guys always going with the Bilsteins... probably a good reason for that now that I think of it... lol
i noticed that you have the pressed in style ball joints as do i did you just use a bearing press I've seen a few videos and it looks like a bear
It was pretty easy with a harbor freight press. the thing that was the most awful was pressing in the lower control arm bushings.
