Let's play the epic bang drum Japanese game! Taiko no Tatsujin Drum 'n' Fun! I'm playing on a Nintendo Switch because I actually don't have a PS4... Also, I'm not playing on tjaplayer3 (or any other simulator) because I want to keep this to the actual game itself! I'll be explaining how to play the game and kind of like an introductory/let's play and tutorial. PLAY IT PLEASE.

I had to take down and re-upload this video because the entire time, my TV is flickering (my camera shutter speed was set to 125 and turns out my TV is awful so it flickered the entire time. The flickering didn't happen on any other monitor I recorded. Go go my TV!)
I've re-uploaded the video at 30fps instead of the original 60fps. The flickering should be gone now, although you'll see this 'wave' going up and down the screen. But at least now the video is bearable to watch and not epilepsy inducing!
I'm sorry about it, I wish I could show you my full play on the other monitor at 60fps (it looks so much smoother on 60fps) but the rest of the video will be very bad eye strain.
Thank you for watching!

It’s funny how there are drummers that looked down on you because you played a ‘fake’ drum for a game even though I myself got this game because I love drumming and was super excited to know that this rhythm game that incorporates drumming had a Switch version
I'm a drummer and, to be honest, my thinking before playing was totally along the lines of the "Bah! My superior knowledge of the German match grip and triple-stroke roll will make this totally easy." However, you're right: it's not really a "fake drum" but a totally different beast altogether. And, yes, it's fun as all hell!
It's like the difference between playing Guitar Hero and a real guitar. Similar but require different skills
Imagine not talking about the thumbnail
This game is more like Rocksmith. It may not be a real drum, but the techniques that you learn are directly applicable to if you were playing a real drum. Guitar hero is 100% a fake guitar because nothing that you're doing is going to help you play a real guitar. That was the point of Rocksmith.
its not a drum is a taiko

I don't understand why people get so mad about a drum, it's the same kinda game as guitar hero.
You don't use proper guitar techniques for a fake guitar either. Literally play whatever play style that makes the most points

As a percussionist, I can say that the people criticizing your drumming style are just elitists. Doing "proper" technique on drums takes a long time to learn, and I wouldn't expect a rhythm gamer to learn that JUST for a GAME. Like you said, it's a rhythm game! Does it really matter as long as you're having fun?
i imagine pianists saying that the fingering of osu mania players are wrong
in terms of technique she’s also not doing bad either way though too. it’s obviously not perfect but just from the little she plays you can see she has great groundwork on the basics. most of her movement is from the wrist, and her fulcrum is in the right place. it’s weird that people point out the things she got wrong instead of seeing how cool it is that she got so much right just for a silly little drum game.
Honestly, this video was a treat to watch. I could feel your excitement and love for the games in the way you talked about it!. I got the game last year, but didn't really start playing it until about a month ago, and honestly I regret not starting sooner!
I, as Taiko hardcore player, appreciate so much the work you have done to bring taiko to more people, and explaining the game for everyone.
That’s what makes best saber so fun, it’s just slashing blocks (there’s obviously more like accuracy and modifications) but at its base it’s pretty much that

This was so helpful! Thank you for this video, I wanted to see if Taiko no Tatsujin was my kind of rhythm game, and now I’m more excited to get it than ever
I remembered playing taiko for the first time at the age of 9 in Tokyo on my birthday and it was the best memory of being in a Japanese arcade ever. Really wished Singapore did have it tho because it’s a really fun experience.
My favorite part of the taiko songs is when Namco decides to put Soulcalibur and Tales music for quite literally no reason other than "they're Namco properties" and i love that lol
That's why I even learned about taiko to being with lol
I’ve tried playing taiko at the arcade a couple times but the only machines we had then were the old CRT machines and I found the UI super confusing but we finally got a HD cab during lockdown! (In a coffee shop of all places) super excited to give it a shot!
You have passion and love for this game, it makes this video complete. I know nothing about Taiko, but this video has made me intrested in this game. Thank you.
love this video! fantastic overview with personal experience and advice. makes me want to play taiko lol.
this was a really fun video to watch (also glad taiko meet more of a audience outside of japan!!)
That thumbnail is concerning though but also funny
I actually picked it up at launch, I really love this game even though I'm not so good. The noise of the tatacon however is a deal breaker to me, I live in an apartment with thin walls and everyone can hear me play 😭
I can only play it during the middle of day in short session. It's my first rhythm game outside of Osu! and Guitar/DJ Hero and probably my favourite too! It has such unique charm that is unlike any other rhythm games I played even if it's not arcade.
very informative! I've been playing taiko no tatsujin dx for the psp, I don't understand Japanese so this is very helpful.
I was blessed as a child when I found one of your videos that introduced me to Taiko (the website version) thank youuu!
The thumbnail really is something

yay a taiko video :D as always thank you for putting captions i really appreciate it!
always high quality videos! long time viewer :)
I sent the thumbnail to my friends and now I have no friends
I can confirm taiko can even be fun for kids, me, my gf and my little cousin played the wii games a lot and my cousin loves it even if he isn't really good (but he's getting better!)
Love the video, thank you!
Those are some really nice drumsticks you got there. Possibly the nicest around.
I'll never be able to hit Don chan with a clean conscience ever again. 😕
only rewatching to help tokaku again😌💕
Years ago, I used to heavily play "T-aiko" on Android during my Sophomore Year when it launched years ago.
Ended up #4 on the global rankings though shortly after peaking the hackers soon flooded the game
and ruined my experience. A number of Perfect Scores were also deleted also adding to the displeasure.
Despite it shutting down and relaunched later, I haven't gone back to playing via Phone though it's nice to see
that there are opportunities to play it again. Awesome video, thanks for the tips and genuine remarks about it.
Rewatching because of your post :)
Bang drums... Drum ‘n’ fun... Seems very family friendly.
I'm surpried that you didn't mention that the accuracy when you hit the note at the marker gets stricter as you increase the difficulty, with Oni/Extreme being the strictest.
EDIT: Apparently the PS4 version has some lag issues if you use the drum controller, I don't know if that lag issue is now fixed tho.

Great to see you do a video on it!
the thumbnail is amazing XD
They actually added a completion level if you fully perfect a song, like all perfects! It’s called “don da full combo” (ドンダフルコンボ in Japanese). I think it only appears in the newer versions of the arcade machines in Japan. I’m so happy this game is getting more attention AAA
It's also on the most recent PC/Xbox release (The Drum Master!), and they localized it as "Donderful Combo".
"Eh, I love the game. It's alright if I dont make money" 🥺💞
I totally thought you said TGA player lol subtitles helped! Awesome video as usual! Def one of my favorite Rhythm game related channels to watch :)

Also Taiko is fun. Need to get my hands on the official drum.
Thank you for this video! got me into taiko :D found used switch drum/game bundlle wich i modded to be more sensitive and never had this much fun! Never thought I’d hear the term “drum elitists” haha
😂 there's elitist in everything. This reminded me of the king of the kill episode where Hank gets yelled at my his techniques caring for roses from a rose elitist
I wanna talk to whoever's responsible for this video's thumbnail.
I was bopping my head to the song, and I have such a bad habit on every rhythm game and it's that I just quit when I reach a hard section and miss too much feeling it's not on my current level yet. I've been interested in Taiko no tatsujin since I tried the demo on Switch and I've been playing a bit on osu! while I'm mostly a osu!maia player, it's super fun like you said. I highly recommend trying taiko when you can! :D
Loved the video. It is so hard to find english taiko content. I never noticed there was a test mode for calibaration -.- . A video on drumming techniques for the arcade drum would be great.
