I really relate to this 'analysis - paralysis' thing. I felt so often like I have decent ideas but my execution / delivery sucks so why do it at all. I really enjoyed this and found it helpful. You should definitely do more content like this! Also, you are very nice to listen to. Definitely here to stay!
As a cinematographer with a small youtube channel, these points really hit home. I appreciate the insight and you sharing your experience with your channel, we all appreciate it! Keep up the good work!
Any time you upload a video I'm reminded of how happy I am to know about this channel. There's something about your content that has had such a reassuring effect on me ever since I started watching. All of the advice you share is super helpful for someone like myself who has been trying to stay consistent with a RUclips channel and just filmmaking in general. Genuinely, thank you...
That’s what I like about your videos; your vulnerability. Being a producer myself, it feels like producing/directing almost feels like we’re building an airplane as it lands.
Just started posting last two weeks and it feels great. Definitely analysis paralysis is so hard to get past but the two videos I’ve posted made me feel good of sharing the work. Great video! Cheers man!
Great video! These points are really good, I find that just making videos and sharing experiences on youtube is really therapeutic. I urge anyone to start a channel, it is amazing!
Genuine and simple points well made. Calming music helps centre the emotion which in this case I’m absolutely sure is authentic. Well made but more importantly well put. Thx
This video hit hard this Monday! Thanks! Great advice and great tips for someone who wants to start a channel but also for someone who might struggle to keep it alive like me.
Love all of this, especially the last one. I was brainstorming video ideas today and realized that I want to be more personal and share more of my self on my channel. I always try to be genuine regardless of what I'm talking about but I think I'm gonna start sharing a bit more about my life, including my failures and fears like you mentioned. Thanks for all the dope stuff you make man!
This is dope, never seen your channel before but just by looking at this video I can tell you’re really good at cinematography ( color and lighting is really dope) I really felt number two because I post skits shorts films and vlogs… which are cool but it’s hard to grow when I’m not the best nor do I offer any quality as far information… But that goes with not doing it for the accolades…
As a RUclipsr I 100% needed to hear this to take me back to the basics and to remind me why I started in the first place. Analysis Paralysis it’s real and can happen at any time… even after you have an established channel… it just sneaks up. I enjoyed your video immensely, I also liked the attention to details in this video, your audio and videography are stunning. The whole package. I Just hit the subscribe button. Thank you ✨
Loved this video man. I first though these might be more nonsense RUclips tips like so many other but these were genuine and useful. My GF and I have been working to build our channels and it’s a lot of work so thanks for these tips!
Summarizing it: 01. Just start now (inspiration comes at random times, don't plan too much) 02. Don't start youtube for likes, money, etc. (Focus on consistency, do this for a whole year) 03. Be ok with sharing imperfections. (don't feel afraid of showing your vulnerabilities) It might now be how you imagine but enjoy the process!
Can really relate with the tip on not setting numeric goals. The amount of subscribers or views we get is not in our control, we can only make stuff and put it out there. That's what I'm doing :)
Well said, been there myself. Especially through analysis-paralysis. The main, thing is to start this and get it going and not to think. Also I agree with the counter-intuitive advice people saying put numbers on it and the amount of money you want to make because it can truly make you feel like a failure if you don't reach those goals.
The mindset you mentioned hasn't really changed since 2011 when I first started doing RUclips (and gave up a few years back) -- be consistent, manage your expectations, do it just to do it. Funny to see how it's still relevant now, and probably even more so since there's a lot more competition already on here.
Thanks for sharing! I just started my RUclips journey in 2023 and appreciate your insight around not focusing on the numerical accolades, which is so hard to not do lol
thank you so much for this video! I needed this today, I have been posting on YT since January and It can be challenging to see that the views are not what I wish they were. But with consistency and dedication I know I can do it! Yes, It's the hardest thing I have done as a creator, but it's worth it.
Appreciate this video bro. Ive started YT multiple times and haven't been consistent. 2024 Im treating it like a business and really doing YT intentionally.
Thank you for this video, it really helps me put into perspective why I waited so long to start. I went through analysis paralysis for years and this past April, in the words of Sean Cannell of Think Media, I punched fear in the face and pressed record. I'm now a few months in and I'm already seeing the benefits that it provides. It really touched me when you talk about sharing your vulnerabilities, failures, and fears, because I believe in using the platform to have a voice, to be expressive, and to build a genuine community of like-minded people over everything else.
Thanks man. Having a similar challenge going on with posting something once a week on my Instagram. It’s all about being consistent over perfect. It doesn’t lead to the expected numbers, but I can say that I stuck to this promise to myself - even if I don’t feel comfortable with posting at all or am to busy. Thanks again, for your honesty, humbleness and vulnerability 🙏🙏🙏
Great points. I’ve been making videos for 6 years and I still haven’t seen any kind of results. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s an inner journey, and the metrics don’t really matter that much anyway. It’s about the process, and becoming a better and more skilled person, I think so anyway.
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 750 subs and > 200 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
JUST THANK YOU ❤you might not know it but you had and you still have a big impact on somany of us . Personally I was struggling a lot on creating content and show myself in front of a camera . I was always consuming content and never creating it but with your videos and other creators I set myself a goal on a video each week for a year as you said and started my youtube channel. Thank you so much for your honesty , your authenticity and your videos .
I've been wanting to do a RUclips channel for over 10 years now. I've started a business but I don't do consistent RUclips videos myself. Thanks for the reinforcing message 😊
@@carlostigs Despite that the few videos I've posted have grown my channel quite rapidly and got me new opportunities so it'll be worth it to keep posting.
Finally.. something so relatable talking about only getting 5 views, 35 views is something NO ONE talks about. Thank you for this video and the inspiration to keep going 🥹🫶🏽
Thank you for advicing me You inspired me to start planning as photographer/Filmmaker and start a RUclips channel You do great things I just wanna be like you Brotherman.thanks for such video.
We have had to take that mindset. Are we enjoying producing, and do we appreciate our own product. If so, that has to be reward enough. We want our content to have value for others and we’re working to make sure it’s getting out there, but at some point, we have to be comfortable with being our own audience. (No, that does NOT mean we watched our video about Papeete 8.2k times - somebody else watched it 200 times on their own😂)
Is it the fear we need to have an acceptable fecade we can share with the world? Can we show the world our true journey? Maybe this is the realization we need to show viewers our "real self" rather than our best self. This may be the message that allows me to take the step and hope for the best... Thank you
Nice video, can you tell me which filter you put in front of your lens? I use the Schneider Hollywood Blackmagic 1/4 but the effect on your video is more pronounced. Nice channel, by the way, very good content!
This video was actually really inspiring! I'm am wondering myself what to do cause I would love a channel just to have a group of people I can resonate with in my nerdy film life. I planned to start after I finished my first year in film school, which already ended two months ago now and I've only managed to put out one video😂... Some of those same problems you discussed in this video about starting a channel I'm facing right now it's nice to see I'm not the only one when starting out. I'm hoping to be more consistent working on a video now, but thanks Carlo for posting this! :)
0:12 "my hope is that the video is going to be direct to the point, no fluff", haha, you saying this probably qualifies as fluff! And it's definitely not direct to the point haha. But good video apart from the fluff in the beginning ;)
I started a channel this year i was doing well until RUclips team members discovered that i was an asian or African they recommended my channel to their bots accounts known as team pioneers my channel died 😂😂😂
Very good tips!

I would agree, small channels need to hear this honest perspective, so thanks for that!

That’s what I like about your videos; your vulnerability.
Being a producer myself, it feels like producing/directing almost feels like we’re building an airplane as it lands.
I have never read that analogy, and I love it!
That’s interesting thanks for sharing
Literally watching this before uploading my first one. Thank you Carlo. You've always been an inspiration to me
Your killing it, you make me want to get back into youtube.
You should :)
This video is such a blessings for many..including me.. talking about failures is my take away from it. Thanks for sharing... cheers!!!
