Got a Fox 40 on my Rocky Mountain Flatline downhill bike and really enjoying it..!! this video Will definitly help me out in the future servicing of my fork.!! Thanks guys.!! 🤘🤘
Hi, any info on the stanchion clamps (6:44) attached to the feedback sports elite workstand ? I have searched acessories on the feedback sports site ? Thank you.
Interested to see what the servicing for the XC racers are like compared to the DH riders. Could you do some setup discussion for the XC forks/shocks please?
@FOX got a 36 Factory GRIP2... Did Jordi soaked the Foam Rings in 20WT Gold on damper side ? Im asking the service on my Fork. Do i put 20WT Gold to the foam rings on both Sides (Airside/Damperside) or do i need to put on the 5WT to the foam ring on the damper side ? Hope u can answer me and sorry for my bad english ;)
If the fork is sucking down badly when releasing the air side, is there air trapped in the neg chamber or something else? How do I solve it? Thanks for the awesome series!
Yes, it's trapped in the negative chamber. To let air out, use the same process as putting in. Let out 20 lbs, then cycle the fork slowly 10-15 times, repeat until it's empty. That should help the air equalize and get out of the neg chamber. Cheers.
Shared an up-lift at Morzine with Dean Lucas other day, found out he was a pro but other than that clueless about who he was so pretty funny to see him in a vid a few days later
It was interesting to see Jordi use a regular pump for that fork. But it makes sense. Forks take very little pressure and a regular bike pump can do at least 120-150. So it's easy. You have to use an actual "shock pump" for the rear shock though, because then you are looking at well over 150 or even 200 lbs of air, to fill them up. Cheers.
When you've done hundreds you get a good feel for the correct torque. Some torque settings are super critical others are more a guideline to stop people over tightening stuff
Because one side is the air spring where thicker fluid (or grease) tends to work better and your not worried about fluid contamination, like on the damper side...Just a guess.
can someone PLEASE explain to me the difference between the fox 40's and fox 49's? there are literally no articles or comparisons. why are there two different DH forks from fox? It seems like people dont even realize the 49 exists!
There is no difference except the lowers are for 29er wheels, so they are longer. The rest of the fork is the same, I think even the piston shafts have the same length. Thats probably why they stopped calling the 29er 40 "49" for the 2021 model. There is nothing to "compare" there, it's the same fork for different wheel sizes.
Good day guy JORDI like yuor trabaj sig in the Fanatic tim FOX. Lucky in to estaf and lucky in the s carres in the Andorra Vainort waht teng un good desempe and nice day saluds tods the guy's rider's.yeaaaa good program FOX. From the Santig of Chile 🇨🇱 Cya. 🚵 💯🚴🚲🍀🇺🇲🍀👍🚵☝️😀☝️♥️👍📹😀☝️♥️🦊♥️
So, as a bike mechanic, i've seen my faire share of people trying to put air into their suspension with a tire pump, and we've been told countless times to not use a tire pump by suspension companies because it is high pressure instead of low pressure. How come Jordi is using one and maybe explain to people that not every tire pump works the same!? A lot of people will see this video and think, oh jordi does it, then I can do it the same?
Vikingos DH the oil change process is the same for the coils. The difference being on the newer models is the damper is an open bath I believe so you use a damper fluid in the damper side for both lubrication of the lower leg and the damper, and a different fluid on the non damping side. On the coils it’s the same fluid for both legs but a separate service all together for changing the damper oil as they’re closed bath
I have no clue where does Jordi finds patience to deal with Loris😜
in a baguette at lunch im guessing
Loris is like Jordi’s kid, you just love them unconditionally no matter how much they drive you crazy 😂
@@FOXFACTORY LOL. True dat.
Never argue with jordi he knows what he is doing
pointless question: how many rolls of shop towels does the fox team go through in a race weekend
I think Jordi could do 40s in his sleep. I am such a nerd. Love the techy side of mountian biking.
For sure he could, perhaps a blindfold service in a future episode? 😛
@@FOXFACTORY That would be cool
@@FOXFACTORY soo where is it? :)

can you do a service/ piece on the cross country side as well?
For sure we will be including some XC service including Live Valve in our next episode, stay tuned! 👍
He makes the service on the 40s look so easy..👍

Great show fox 👍 Love Jordi and his dry sense of humour 😂
It’s proper fascinating to watch a fork being serviced so easily

As this is the first WC with both DH and XC we will be including XC service in our next episode stay tuned Jason! 👊
I would prefer to see the Enduro side. More aligned with what most riders could associate with.
@@dhrracer Fox 32s and 36s are quite similar when it comes to servicing them so most of it carries over.
Question for Jordi: how often would replace the dust wipers/seals instead of just replacing the foam rings? And what about Grip 2 damper service?
I'd only replace the dust wiper once a year unless they look damaged.

Is it always the gold oil, which the foam rings are soaked with on both sides?
every fox shock comes stock with foam rings right?
That seemed like an excessive amount of grease on the air side of Rachael’s fork. Is that normal?
“That’s it” now repeat all day until race days are over. Learned a lot ! Now it doesn’t look intimidating!
i just changed the oil on my grip2 40 and the rebound knobs on my lowers just spin without clicking or stopping.
Nice! Is this procedure the same for older ones? I have a 40 float 2014 I think.
50cc of 20wt. Gold for air and damper bath
Could you guys do a full in depth grip 2 damper rebuild guide ?
I didn't see you use the fox seal driver. Is that required? See allot off people complaining about the hassle without it.
how much oil used in the sliders ?
The only 40's I'm servicing are Miller High Life 40's XD
Those need attention too! 😝
They should include him in a study about long term teflon exposure.
When I drain the air from the left leg, the internal rod sucks right up into the leg. Any ideas what I should do?
Any of the fox shocks is one of my dream to install in my beloved bike🚲
Woohoo! I managed to remove my Fox 49 lowers thanks to this video. 40mm offset, here I come.
Will this service be the same for a rockshock boxxer
Wich brand and type lube you should recommend me? Thank you
Is the spray out fluid alcohol?
I would also like to know.
Most likely isopropyl alcohol
It's isopropyl
@@knott4me561 thanks
How much oil do you pour into the forks tho
Do they really need that much grease on the air spring

What shoes are those Jordi?
Can I use that as a pogo stick?
Can i use fox 40 over 10years?
Hmmmm do you have a special track pump or can u use a normal one too iv alway use a shox pump but sometime its hard getting the high psi

Hi! What's inside the spray thing Jordi uses to clean the inside of the fork?
Isopropyl
I miss this series 🇲🇦😍😍
No torque wrench for the lowers on assembly 😱 that’s the only part of my bike I actually use the torque wrench on.
Yeah I agree , seems really odd not use one but i’ve Seen many good mechanics do the same .... if it was me i’d Use one too!!!

Any one know where I can sign up to be a mechanic or autorizad fox service shop.??
What does the fox say?
Ptfe fluid for the damper side? Why not on both sides?

No air released!!! ???
What is the difference between a fox 40 and fox49
The lowers for the 29” are longer to accommodate the larger wheels.
LBS: Give us two weeks
Jordi: 9 Minutes
Jordi, what syringe is that? I need to find something larger than 30ml and durable for our 40 services.
I don't know what these ones are but I think VAR tools make some proper decent syringes.
I would like a fox 40 kashima but no money and the value of the price doubles in my country 😩😩😩
XC guys go to the Fox tent for help getting into their spandex.
No replacing fork seals.
Not needed every time .
Isn't that a fox 49?! And what's the difference between ifox 40 and 49?
Although it's a coool vid
fox 49 is for 29" wheels and fox 40 is for 27.5" wheels

27,5/29 😉👍
Ohhh thanks bro 🙏
Video says Fox 40. Stickers say 49. Why the difference?
49 is for 29 inch wheels. I believe they are the same mechanically, just a different chassis.
Simon Davies thanks!
too much torque on the bottom nuts. Fox says 5.7Nm. Jordi says more like 20Nm :) Love you anyway
Not much puzzling today.
Don’t you worry, puzzling will commence in our next episode when practice starts. 😂
Sou fã da Fox
the forks on my 650lbs cruiser are not that much beefier than these shown here.. :}
This video should say:
" how to speed up your Fox service" 😏
Why do you say that?
Its a WC service , there are shortcuts in there that aren't in the service manual. 😁
id love jordi to service my fox 40
Who needs a torque wrench.....😆
This guy should check his teflon content in his blood, after working with these oils for so long.
Show Gostei Brother ☠🔱🇧🇷
.
I think jordi has done that a couple of times
Definitely not a how to video but it is interesting to see it being done.
Literally don’t even have a bike and I’ve seen all 20 of these.
Why is it a Fox 40 with a 49 decal?
29" wheel
@Noble Wulf the title says fox 40 not 49
Y U it’s the same fork just for different wheel sizes.
I know about the 49 thing, but the title says 40...
@@cole5864 Fox refers the DH forks as fox 40, because Fox introduced 27.5 wheels before 29ners. So the Fox 49 is a part of the Fox 40 family.
