I know a transgender woman who had a fanatical Christian stalking her for weeks at a college campus. It started with him approaching her and flirting, which at first she thought he was interested in a relationship and so she engaged in conversation with him exploring whether she might have mutual feelings. But very quickly he then started berating her and calling her "the devil's temptation" and chiding her as "evil". Then he'd come back the next day and start flirting with her before eventually returning to scolding her. This pattern went on for quite a while to where she started to wonder if she'd need a restraining order against him but was instead able to just avoid him. Our best guess was that he was attracted to her and hated himself for it because he was taught to see transgender as sinful.

I did volunteer work in a church supported "soup kitchen."
I really enjoyed it and I was careful never to talk about my religious beliefs or my political leanings.
I liked the place because they never forced religion down the throats of the people they fed. However every week the minister would invite me to Sunday Service, but I always politely declined.
After several weeks the preacher asked where I went to church. He seemed like a cool person, not really biased so I honestly stated I was an atheist.
That was when the preacher asked me not to come around there any more. I was stunned. I got along with everyone.
I found out later when one of the other volunteers asked me why I had stopped coming around, I told her what had happened. I told her I was an atheist she was stunned. She said the preacher hated atheists. In fact, the Sunday after my last day working with them he had a sermon about a horrible atheist who has snuck into his church and was spreading lies about God, trying to lead hios God's people away from the true path.
She had no idea he was talking about me, because I never did any of the things he said I did. She quit going to that church, because she realized he was the liar.
Clearly that is why he didn't want me there. If his people got to know a real atheist, they might find out he was a liar.
That pastor should not be in any Church. Sorry you had such a horrible experience like that

As someone who grew up deep in the Christian community, I can testify that Christians are obsessed with dark pasts. They LOVE when people overcome horrible "sins" and found Jesus at the other end. They love to hear their stories and prop them up as leaders within the cult because it makes God seem even more powerful. Many of their leaders invent dark pasts just to have stories like this to captivate more followers within the community. It's sick.
