@@Lagravia As a woodworker / finish carpenter Walnut oil is fine but I would only use it for a cutting board that you clean often and that you are wanting a specific look that the walnut oil gives. Walnut oil is actually one that dries on the wood more so than it just pulled into it. It leaves a totally food safe finish but can get gunked up if not cleaned properly. Mineral oil or a mineral oil with beeswax are the only things I really recommend. It takes several coats to basically build it up into the wood depending on grain direction and wood type but it is the easiest to maintain, by far the cheapest and you can't over condition it. If you do use any with beeswax in it make sure that it's a foodsafe blend of the two, some are made for furniture but it will say right on the bottle if its foodsafe. You can get a literal gallon of the stuff for 20$ which will last you years upon years.
I used to HATE oatmeal raisin cookies. I used to think "of all the cookies you could make, why raisins?" Then I tried some oatmeal raisin cookies from Giant (a US grocery store of all places). Now I get it. I get why people go out of their way to put dried grapes in cookies. Makes me think how many other strong opinions I have, and how a single experience could instantly shatter so many of them.
Definitely relate. For years I thought I HATED raisins because I looked at them as rotten grapes when I was a kid and I didn't like how they got stuck in my molars. It wasn't until I got a meal kit that included golden raisins to be cooked in a rice pilaf. I almost left them out, but it honestly slapped. They softened with the rice and added a lovely sweetness that paired well with the rest of the savory meal. I now keep them on hand for cooking.

Lmao I literally just bought that walnut oil 2 days ago from amazon for seasoning my cutting board. Why did you switch? Did the walnut oil go rancid on your cutting board?
Love your vids, FYI, you can just use mineral oil for your butcher block, its what almost all woodworkers use for food safe surfaces. If you wanna get fancy you can mix mineral oil and beeswax together for your own paste mix - guy who makes cutting boards

Your comment about Calabrian chilis has been stuck in my mind since I watched that meal prep video years ago. This is blowing my mind in such an insignificant way.
Once you start letting go of your ego it almost becomes addictive. You get such a rush from that first time you say to someone "you know what, you're right" that it encourages you to be more open minded. At least that's what I found

I use mineral oil. You can get food safe mineral oil at any drug store and most grocery stores People will consume a spoonful of the stuff to treat constipation. I only use a few drops on my board. Besides, I'm allergic to nuts, so I do not fancy seeing if walnut oil leeches into my food.
