- San Diego Comic Con 2023 - Mattel revealed the newest addition to Masters of the Universe Origins Cartoon Collection featuring figures inspired by the Filimation He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon from 1983- 1984. Showcased were He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, and Trap Jaw. Also featured were Lady Slither, Fangor, and the surprise reveal of Rokkon the first transforming Origins figure in the line.
San Diego Comic 2023 kicks off with day 1 at the Mattel Booth, where Mattel features their new MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection, and more main line figures were revealed for the Snake Men.

As much as I love the MOTU and G I Joe reveals, the vacmetal Silverhawks Ultimates wave is my favorite reveal so far.
They do look great right? lol Brian should have made that happen at the beginning but I don't blame him for making Cartoon accurate Sculpts!
I think these Filmation style figures are great but I may not be getting any of them for myself. I'd like to see a filmation She-ra however. It's great that at least these figures won't 100% take over the line and those of us who only want OG toy accurate figures will still have things to buy like Rockon, Sy-klone and Extendar.

No the first item you mentioned for Trap Jaw, is for Man At Arms. That is the Stasis Ray, from the episode "The Dragon Invasion"! :)

@@megajayretro ha ha I understand. I'm a Filmation nut, so I know most of them, if not all. ha ha However, I can't come up with the accessorry that Trap Jaw is holding. It's clear and a weird shape, I can't grasp it. Hopefully Mattel reveals that today during interviews.
These Filmation versions are like the hot babe that you find after you've spent years investing time and money in a chick like Origins,

He Man looks much better as before on "40th - 4 pack". But the hair color could be more dark yellow on my opinion. But ok, this is easy "to fix" with customization! Sorry my english, I'm from Brazil...😄👍🏻
Your english is excellent my friend! I agree I have the 40th 4 pack and I do like this face sculpt better. I don't mind the yellow and this figure is under the bright lights so it might blow out the color.

For Origins they just need a tilt swivel down like Action Force does for the trigger hands so He-Man can point the sword straight up.

Most of the cartoon collection looks good they rushed Teela's head to get her into the booth for display. Pretty sure they're going to go through a few more revisions before the final product is revealed.
They need to add Sorceress to the cartoon collection.

As adult collector's we are being spoiled rotten Jay! I thought Super 7's Club Grayskull MOTU 2.0 figures where the rage and I still have those most of them still new and sealed! But these are amazing! We have Cat's Lair coming, upcoming Matallic SliverHawkes on the way from Super 7 I could you not! Not to mention new releases from Neca TNMT and Playmates This is a blessing and a curse at the same time man!🤗🤔🧐🙏

well, it is the case that Mattel did a fan poll about whether they wanted Filmation figures before they gave the license to S7. I would personally far prefer more obscure characters rather than cartoon versions. But I’ll take what I can get. These look great

Oh I'm totally into the Filmation versions, but Mattel needs to understand that the headsculpts could easily be the deciding factor for collectors, so they better focus on getting them just right. I know that's my deciding factor. Thus far Teela head looks the most screen inaccurate of the bunch.
I'm pretty sure it's Teela's head is just a prototype rushed to get it it's time to be displayed. With the cameras on phones these days it's easy to see all the imperfections on paint Masters. I'm sure these will still go through a number of revisions before being released. If they release to look like that it could kill the line before it even starts 😑

I'm sure these are paint masters and prototypes. The Teela REALLY needs to be touched up. They rushed her to get her into the show I'm sure lol

I needed to calm myself down after I first saw the faces. ha ha I was disappointed, but then after hearing so much of fans sayings those are first prototypes and not the final, I was more releaved. ha ha Pixel Dan should have his interview today with Mattel, so answers will happen today. :)

I was all in on Origins up until the faker duplicat exclusive. And I’m kicking myself for letting go of a few favourites like orko and trap jaw. So if these actually hit shelves… I’ll be really tempted. Imagine they do Battle Cat and Cringer. I’d be back in.
I'm loving the Filmation line! I have to get them all, and looking forward to a Filmation Orko!
So I guess all those custom Filmations I've been trying to make with Origins were unnecessary, cuz these look perfect!

I hope they improve Cartoon Teela's face, so far I've not been impressed with the previous Filmation style releases of her from Classics.
I'll be picking up two Lady Slither figures to display both versions. She looks gorgeous.

I hope this isn’t the final colors for Nightstalker, it doesn’t look like the gold color vintage 80’s toy. Why is Nightstalker in yellow here in display?

C'mon Jay 10:30 is playability. Why would you want Lady Slither to be two separate figures? I like the way they did her with swappable lower extremities. Now the real challenge is how can they do a Catra that changes into a cat. I mean wow, it's gonna take the collective minds of world scientists to figure that one out.
EDIT: I get what you're saying now. You mean for the SDCC display. Right. I think they probably didn't wanna confuse anyone into thinking there would be 2 versions of her as opposed to a swappable part. Just my guess.

I’ve avoided origins but I think I’m going to try this line out. Been focus on Masterverse New Eternia lately but this looks interesting.

I can't wait to see who the last figures to reveal are going to be. I know the early leaks said it would be beast man for the cartoon figures but I really hope they do Evil Lynn instead. Also hope that teela's training robot comes with a stand like the doom drone did with 200x Triclops.
The thing that looks like a projector I think comes with Man At Arms not Trap Jaw. The thing Trap Jaw is holding looks like a crystalized version of the huge piece of meat you'd sometimes see the characters eating.
Lady Slither is going to sell out so quickly. According to Mattel the red skirt of the snake tail is an adapter to attach it to female bucks and without the skirt it can be attached to the male bucks which will make it highly sought after for customizers.
Absolutely chef, looks like we're getting beast Man in the cartoon collection, and confirmed our Sy-klone and Extendar!!!! With their action features intact!!!! You're probably right with the accessories and I hope there are more announcements on your figures for cartoon collection in a few months!
Finally, Mattel realized what some collectors prefer ..what we saw in the TV decades ago.(again) 🤣..i hope the face paint and sculpt would be improved ...its 2023 to be at Kenner level of quality ...cool update...

@@megajayretro Mattel had a brand called Mega Construx & it was rebranded as just Mega, and that line has Masters of the Universe in Lego form.
Looking at Rockon closely, it almost looks like the rock pieces of his body are detachable from his head, back, arms, and legs.
Meaning I think the transformation is done by putting those pieces together, separate from the body itself. 😢
I'm not sure about that, but if its true that's too bad.

Filmation Trap Jaw doesn't have an elbow on his weapons arm, they need to stop doing that.
