The registrations give you truck and trailer #’s, vin#s , license plate number’s and have always been required to check at pre trip. However glad she made it through the situation safe.

Once this is dismissed you might want to talk with a civil rights attorney. There may be a case against the police cuz there was no reason for you to go to jail.

These cops know nothing they didn’t do an on scene investigation when they saw that it was stolen they automatically concluded that she’s guilty she’s a thief.
19 yr driver myself, and when i was working for a drop and hook company it was standard to do our job and check all paperwork(inspection,registration,plate,lights,doors,tires,brakes) just as the dot says we are supposed to. cant tell you how many plates gone,wrong one, out of date inspections there were. you know just as the dot says company driver, contractor, or anyone in between its part of your pti everytime you drop and hook, start up for the day or shutdown for the day. still sucks it happened and the officers were being tyrants looking for the arrest. its officer discretion when rsp(recieving stolen property) charges.
She should be suing the police department for denying her rights and improper procedures. Even if trailer registration and plate matched, it could still be reported stolen without the driver knowing. She should maybe sue JBHunt for dispatching stolen equipment. If they say they can’t know it’s stolen as a multi billion dollar company, how can a low wage trucker know it’s stolen?
The correct procedure would be to tow the truck and trailer, and site the company for use of stolen property, offer to assist the driver in transportation to a hotel, and leave her out of it. The officer said on camera he’s aware that she is was unaware of the situation. She complied with the officers, if they’re allowed to have judgement of how to perceive and execute lawful offenses, then the officer should’ve been a human, not a judicial, money-making robot and helped her out in this situation.
As a local driver it’s crazy hearing this because I’m consistently doing drop & hooks, taking bad trailers to the yard and etc. I won’t know much about the trailer until I do a pre trip on it, so finding out about this is pretty scary.
Those officers lied to her about her getting arrested and it not going against her CDL license. Just the very fact that she was arrested and was taken into custody, booked at the Local Police or County Jail, meaning that she was also fingerprinted and processed. whether or not she had to spend the night in jail. That will show up on her DAC Report as an arrest for the next 10 years. Even if she's gets an Attorney to work a deal with Court to get her exonerated. The arrest can not be removed from her record and she will have to explain the circumstances to every Trucking Company she goes through a background check for hire. Also, under the FMCSA Regulations if her truck had to be towed from the scene where she was pulled over by Law Enforcement the FMCSA Mandates her Company to required her to take a drug test within a certain of amount of hours following her release from police custody.
I got pulled over in Monroe, MI a couple months ago for a headlight being out. Turned out my trl license plate didn't come back to anything. The MSP officer was really cool. I git my warnings and went on about the rest my shift. I sent the company my inspiration report and they was absolutely floored. They sent up another plate and registration for the trl. When I took it to Ryder to get it put on because me and another driver couldn't get the bolts off. Well the Ryder tech broke the bolts because they was so rusted on. Yet the plate came back to absolutely nothing. Was really crazy. That was a first for me.
🙂 If ur in a hurry or lazy at the very least look at the license plate if the plate has been riveted down tight and it looks rusty, then its most likely never been tampered. If the plate is on with regular bolts and nuts then maybe u shud check the registration.
That is ridiculous, I feel so bad for her. Did JB Hunt fired her for that. In 50 yrs of driving I would only check to see that there was a license plate there and that’s it. I hope she gets a big settlement for the terrible situation. May God bless her with a great job and a great Co. to work for.

This is what happened to my friend.His company renting trailers from somewhere else They reported way before as stolen and actually they had trailer in diffrent yard.He got pulled over in IL.He got arrested at the spot.They put him in prison for a day with orange jump suit.They let him go same day but damage already happened.
The system and laws are broken. She was a legit CDL JB Hunt driver and that was a JB Trailer given to her, she wasn’t an owner operator. Smart women, she put her hands behind her back so the handcuffs could be put on her without resistance. Seems to me like a hard working CDL Trucker trying to make a living and support her kids and family.
First if JB Hunt sent her to pick up this trailer then they need to put their attorneys on this. The diver doesn’t need to be there for anything. She needs to be compensated. JB Hunt is screwing her over.
