    Problem with feeling content with a company to retire from is you can't rely on the longevity of the company (in these sucky times) and you can't rely on your health to maintain a cdl. Always have a good backup plan!

    I'd rather buy a truck now when it's slow, then pay a premium when it peaks back up. It's like buying Christmas stuff after at clearance or summer stuff in the winter and vice versa.

    • @joerubalcava11
      @joerubalcava11 7 месяцев назад +11

      It all relevant, you can buy a truck cheap but the rates are at an all time low and no one knows when they will go up. When things were great a lot of people got into trucking , now most of them are going bankrupt. There is a lot more to trucking than just buying a truck and driving.

    • @oneslave3318

      Always buy a truck and finance it just before a Great Depression hits.
      Don't you know what is happening to our country?

    • @TripleCTrucking
      @TripleCTrucking 7 месяцев назад +5

      @oneslave3318 No one said anything about financing. We thought about buying 2 and fixing them up. There will ALWAYS be freight. The rates may not be as desirable as the times we were spoiled, but the hustle is there. Everyone has different means to an end, and ideation of goals they want to meet. Life is what we make it!

    • @timothykeith1367
      @timothykeith1367 7 месяцев назад +2

      I have read of drivers who bought a cheaper older truck that did well on an inspection. Then, they proactively replaced all the known wear points, maybe rebuild the top end of the motor. Then, thereafer do 80 percent of the maintenance themselves. Change oiĺ before the manufacturer requires. Some of these O-O claim their maintenance costs are 60 percent lower than their peers.
      Direct selling your services is a biggie - avoiding brokers. Drive within a day of home and stick with a proven mechanic for specialized repairs.

Also, noticed your Good broker note. I love how so many say the contract the only way. Failing to see how big a curse that could be. It there money in trucking. I say no. I just ran into emissions issues and 7k later it’s still derated to 5mph. And now the fix is a 11k one box, not including filters or installation. Don’t do it. Don’t drive trucks. Stay home raise your family. Keep your health. You really have to find a way to survive out here. And customers are hard to come by. So the odds are not in your favor.
