- Innovative Genomics Institute Founder, Nobel Laureate, and CRISPR Co-Founder Jennifer Doudna joins Emily Chang to discuss the future of the CRISPR technology and its commercialization, as well as the biotech industry landscape post-pandemic. She also gives her reaction to UC Berkeley losing the CRISPR patent battle against MIT and Harvard.
Why is this about females...why not focus on merit and science
01:25 the Role Gene Editing plays to prevent the next pandemic from happening
02:14 Patent Battle between Harvard and MIT against UC Berkeley
03:50 Near Term and Long Term Goal on the Therapeutic Pathway
05:00 New Era of Biotech Investments
Could CRISPR be used to scramble not repairing the mitochondrial DNA of cancer cells to cure cancer? Essentially starving the cancer cell.
Can CRISPR replace a gene in every cell in the body? My partner has Elhers-Danlos Syndrome and it is so frustrating to see how such a small fault in a single gene throughout his body could cause so much trouble. I want to support this research in anyway I can.
Gene Editing is the best Technology but it's sexism to search explicit for Women
Drinking game:
Take a shot every time she say woman.
Diversity and capability don't always go hand in hand.
Mrs Jennifer is my Role Model. Both in the innovation of This tech and her plans to commercialize it Esp in Agriculture. So much In love with it. I'm personally studying of Genetic Engineering course so as to hopefully one day Stand where she Stands ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇳🇬🇳🇬
What are we waiting for? Time to put this technology to work.
Why are they talking about women in science and a diverse team, who cares this is scientific advancement we should care about merit and who can do the best in moving this tech foreword regardless of whatever is outside. I came here to learn about the future of CRISPR's not a lecture at a liberal arts college.
Oh...I thought Crispr was a new type of recipe from the colonel
She said women.......im scared
Please tell me where is he jiankui.
You can't speak about diversity and then say women women women
So many sheep here willing to adopt their demise
It has pros and cons, like anything else...
If you are vaxed you know its already to late to think about the cons.
We need crispr 2.0 to change genome in a single time urgently
So close, yet in just grasping stage.
The moment Jennifer mentioned the word "women", I felt the urge to take all my money out of her company and put it into David's company. Lady, I admire your work but don't incite sexism. It was totally inappropriate.
