    This card with 10GB of VRAM would have been one of the best GPU of all time.
    What a shame 😔

      or 12 gb actually, a cause 10 gb would downgrade the bus to 160 but 12 would keep it at 192

    • @Mostly_Positive_Reviews
      @Mostly_Positive_Reviews  2 месяца назад

      Couldve done 320bit, same as 3080. The 3070 has a 256bit bus so it wouldve been a nice improvement I reckon.

      @@Mostly_Positive_Reviews if it had 10GB's whether 160 bit with some upgrades or 320 but with some downgrades, I think few would have gone with a 4060 Ti 16GB or 4070 12GB, and since 10GB with 3070 strength still pulls 1440p with DLSS Quality/AMD FG or Lossless Scaling, with some tweaked settings or tuning down/turning off RT/PT, but you can still play most games well above 45 High-Ultra without RT at 1440p with the 3070 even with just a DLSS quality. So the 4070 Super or 4070 Ti would have sold less cause there would have been much less demand, aside for the 4070 Ti Super, 4080, 4080 Super, 4090, +16GB cards. When 10GB still pulls why get 12, lets make a jump when its worth it. And the AMD 6700XT 6800 6800XT had no place in the game there, VRAM was somewhat the only factor buyers favored AMD to 3060 Ti, 3070, 3070 Ti's, and they wanted the sales to move up to their 3080/3080 Ti/3090/3090 Ti's, they even wanted to go for 10GB's only with 3080, and figured that won't work. Most 3080 10GB users haven't thought of upgrading yet. We all know about that. Even 3060 12GB users tend to not go for AMD or expensive NVIDIA, unless a reasonable GPU comes to the market in the future. DLSS kept many 3060 users busy so NVIDIA though that they will never make the VRAM mistake in 1440p and 4K, as many so called 1440p cards like 4070,4070 Super,4070 Ti, can't max out the textures or RT in the near future, 12GB's won't do well there, even 16GB is risky for 4K, but a 3090 won't let you down anywhere yet in 4K. AMD FG+DLSS will counter any slowdowns for now.

    I have a 3070 for 3.5 years now and been using it for 1440p gaming. I had to repaste, re-pad the GPU recently to get temps under control (the paste and pads were dry and the card was thermal throttling). After maintenance the card performs well again, but with RT (like you mentioned) is not playable. It was a fun ride with this card, but in the newer games it's starting to lag behind now. Buying a 3080 (or TI) 12GB on the used market right now can be a good deal if you can find one in a good condition that wasn't used in mining. I'm thinking of getting one, but it'd probably be best to hold out until the 50 series are available.
    Sidenote: you can update DLSS to the lastest version in games where the developers don't do it, by downloading the .DLL file from TechPowerUp and replacing the old files in the game folder manually. Same goes for FrameGen and Ray Reconstruction if you have a 40-series card.

    • @Mostly_Positive_Reviews
      @Mostly_Positive_Reviews  2 месяца назад +1

      Buying one now is probably not the best idea. But if you have one it's still pretty capable for sure. Some compromises have to be made, but you can definitely still have a decent gaming experience if you own one.
      I actually upgraded to a 3080 from the 3070 when I went from 1080p to 1440p. I kept more or less the same performance with better visuals. And I agree with you, a 12GB GPU at 1440p is what I'd recommend now.
      But like you I also had a great time with this GPU. I skipped 20 series and got the 3070 a few months after launch and it has served me very well.

      @bastian6799 2 месяца назад

      same, got it on release when playing on 1080p. Now im playing on 1440p monitor/ 4k TV and the card is struggling. Waiting for the 5000 series now, probably getting a 5080 if the card will be good

    • @gabber_
      @gabber_ Месяц назад

      I did end up swapping because I found a deal for a 3080 Ti, that I couldn't refuse
      After selling my 3070, my investment will be around 120 Euros, which is not a huge amount (for me), considering this card will retain more value going forward.
      The 3080 Ti is faster than I expected, and will serve me until the 50-series prices have gone down a bit. There are still too many unknowns about the 50-series launch and i feel this upgrade just makes it so I don't have to worry about gaming performance for a few months, was worth it.

    Nice to see these kinds of videos. Great example also of showing that settings lower than Ultra still look decent, but everyone wants to play on ultra anyway. DLSS is great and now there is FSR FG too for the 3070, so in some ways the GPU is better than ever. In terms of the FSR FG stuttering, it could be nvidia reflex related maybe? Since FSR has its own latency reducing tech, reflex might be interrupting it, but that's just a guess. In First Descendant it looked like you couldn't toggle Reflex off or on with FSR anyway.

    • @Mostly_Positive_Reviews
      @Mostly_Positive_Reviews  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, it's so weird and the stuttering only started recently. Will check if it's reflex related but I am not sure as this combo works fine in other games.

    With the AMD Frame gen with Dlss balanced 1440p with Raytracing even path-tracing can run at about 80 fps on CyberPunk with med/ultra settings on this card. I'm running a 9400f 32gs 3200 ddr4

    • @Mostly_Positive_Reviews

      Yeah, this GPU does have some oomph, and it performs really well. The only thing holding it back in modern games is the 8GB VRAM buffer. But if you are okay with lowering texture quality it's fine.

  • @mondodimotori

    I mean, it's still quite a powerfull GPU. Your only limit in current games will be the 8GB vram buffer, but it can be worked around with settings. But it's not even that old of a GPU.

      @@Mostly_Positive_Reviews 12GB already choking on 1440p with RT+FG
      You won't get that issue with a 4060 Ti 16GB, you may get close or same FPS with FG with 4060 Ti 16GB with no FG 4070 Super, so this confirms 12 is only ok without FG. 16GB may do the same with FG 4K. There is a reason 4070 Ti Super/4080/4080 Super are 16GB and 3090/3090 Ti/4090 are 24GB, and AMD 7900 XT being so popular cause of 20GB VRAM but a bit slower RT performance which can be counteracted by FG when 16GB's can't do RT+FG.

      Yeah, 8GB is limiting, but not unplayable. The main issue is the price we pay for 8GB GPUs in 2024, and the fact that the 3060 had 12GB. If you want more than 8GB of VRAM from Nvidia you are looking at $500, which is not ideal.

      What is your budget? Often you can get a 6800 / 6800 XT for very good prices, depending on the used market of course. A 3070 will serve you well at 1080p but there will be a game or two where you'll have to reduce texture quality due to the 8GB VRAM. If you cant get a 6800, the 6750XT with 12GB of VRAM will also be good. I'm just not sure how much longer an 8GB GPU will last for modern games.
