Just because a pallete (or a lipstick, a blush, a purse, shoes, dress...) is pretty that doesn't mean we have to buy it. It's ok to appreciate something and say "oh, that's really pretty or cool, but I don't need or want to own it myself." I do that ALL the time. 😉
I love purple, but cool-toned purples, not warm-toned, so that ND palette is a pass. And you're right, it leans too pink for me too - and all the actual purples are so dark. I'm liking the "voice of reason" videos you've been making.
I'm disabled and therefore on a tight budget. I have to be extremely careful of my spending, and I'm very glad to be deinfluenced from purchasing the Roxa palette. Purple is my favourite colour, and I have green eyes that are complemented by purple shadows, so I was drawn to it, but it's expensive for me. I really am glad you talked some sense into me. I have the All Amethyst palette and Juvia's Place's The Violets palette, so I should play around with those. Maybe ND will put out a mini with some Roxa shades in the future!
Those 2 pallets are so pretty and seem way more purple than the ND palette. It looks too pinky to me. I wish she put in a few more cool toned purple as those are my favorites
The All Amethyst and The Violets palettes are actually purple, too. This new ND is mostly reddish pinks, so I think it's good to skip if you're after purples. The All Amethyst has some of the most gorgeous purple tones in it, too, I love it! 💜
Same, I love a muted pale lilac and lavender and feel like those colors have been missing from higher-end formulas for years now (plenty of brights and over-saturated candy hues I can’t wear to a traditional office though), and anything even slightly too pink and it’s giving infection looks on me 😬😂 Paula Begoun of Paula’s Choice used to have an excellent lavender shadow back when they carried makeup, I miss it so!
I feel like the reds and pinks date the palette..,. Had it been true neutral browns (actually hard to find, not warm and not cool) with pops of different shades of purple and maybe a taupe shimmer, I think it would have had more appeal.

thank you for comparing Roxa to Love and for pointing out how many pinks are in Roxa! Companies are not dumb - they put palettes in certain packaging for a reason. The dark packaging is distracting from Roxa being more pink leaning! I actually decluttered Love, so between Viseart Violette, ND Retro and Huda Rose Quartz, I'm good for purples/plums!
The Doll Squad Eyeshadow Palettes are amazing from the pigmented shades, to the blend ability of the mattes and shimmers, to the really beautiful high shinning shimmers that don’t contain glitter. The Doll Squad Palette Formula and Eyeshadows are one of My favorite formula’s! I have all 3 of the Doll Squad Palettes and I highly recommend them as well.
I'm skipping the Mario palette, but I'm not skipping the ND palette. It has a whole new matte formula that I need to try. That special pour duochrome that looks funky, I need to know what it looks like on. Plus there's one wet effect shimmer in this one and I love that formula plus I don't mind that it's pink. I also am dying to see the whole palette in normal lighting to see what is up with the fushia shade that everyone keeps calling red. I really just can't wait to get my fingers in all the colors and play with them. So the ND is at the top of my list of things to buy this month ❤

I'm glad to hear someone else say the MBM shadows faded on them. I bought one of the older pallettes and returned it for that reason. It was too much $ for it not to perform well. I miss the days when the drugstore brands had a huge selection of singles for sale. I usually only use one or two colors at a time. Thank you for showing so many alternatives to the two new palettes!
My very first thought when I saw pictures of the new MBM palette was that it looked like Colourpop’s Of Quartz. If you wanted to have a few more options you could of course add in some colors from That’s Taupe. Personally, I have fallen in love with navy blue eyeshadow, not to use as shadow but to use it as eyeliner and it makes my eyes really pop! Love the video as always!

I buy my Viseart palettes from their website, because they run sales frequently! It is the BEST eyeshadow formula! They blend so easily, they can be applied lightly or full pigment, and they last all day. The formula is exquisite, and the colors in each palette are so well coordinated. Finally, the pans can be removed and put in different palettes

Same. I love purples/mauves, but the way Viseart does them is more subtle & wearable, I think. I have the Viseart Cashmerie Charmeuse & the Violetta Petit Fours, so the new ND is an easy pass.

I’m actually really excited about the ND palette. Purple is my very favorite color, and I actually love ones that lean red rather than blue. I feel like I don’t see those as often in shadows, so I’m psyched. (And clearly Gen X with that…) Amusingly, I JUST ordered those exact two Viseart palettes the other day after staring at them for ages.

Makeup By Mario pallet looks a lot like Stone Cold Fox. A lot. I prefer Stone Cold Fox. I love that pallet. The ND pallet... it's pretty, but you could get the same looks with a few Colourpop pallets. And their formula is amazing. Edit: I said this before I watched you say it!
I have the Viseart Violette Vespertine and it really is a gorgeous muted purple palette. I even mixed it with a few purples from another palette of theirs since you can move the pans around. The shimmers are really great!

I love the new Natasha but going to hold off for a mini as I have the other colors and never wear the red or bright pink. I waited on the zendo and now I just want the mini will be all I need. I just bought the ND I Need A Warm Palette after a long debate of whether or not I did need indeed need it 😂 and I got the new Alter Ego Daylight Palette. I will be ok for quite sometime! If I feel the need for a specific color I would probably buy a single. Less investment and not as much commitment! Happy Fall, all! ❤

I’m not interested in the new Makeup by Mario palette but the ND one is calling my name! I don’t have anything like it in my collection and pinks and purples are my colours. I typically wait to buy palettes to watch reviews and determine if I really want it so it’ll be at least a few weeks until I buy it if I do end up purchasing it.
The ND palette purples look a bit warm to me -- more pink than purple. I think I'll stick with my Cosmic Beauty Gothic palette. The purples in there are amazing. As for the Mario palette, I have several cool/neutral palettes with navy blue in them. Butter London's Teddy Boy palette is great. Also, I have the BH London palette which has similar shades as well.
I have all those colors, some I would not want. Thank you for the full report. Blues I wear still a 1960's girl always far lighter these days, blue mascara.

ND didn't commit to the purple palette. She played it too safe, and the palette looks pink with colored accents. I love the with a cool toned purple and the striped, purple. Just isn't impressive. Thanks for the comparisons, Jen. Blessings!

But I knew the next ND palette to drop was definitely going to be pink in nature mainly because of Mini Rose palette that just came out. I agree with the first mario palette. I was excited about it but as I used it I felt like the shadows blended their way off my eye as if it never happened as I blend it. It was weird. So I got rid of mine. But I can't help but get the new one with that color story! So 🙏 hopefully the shadows were made better in this new one
Thank you for the comparisons, Jen! I saw these as well, but I have the Colourpop Cloud 9 palette that reminds me quite a bit of the Mario palette, so that one didn't even tempt me. Though seeing the Doll Squad 3 palette alternative has me thinking!! 😍 And I too have SO many purple palettes that are more suited to my preferences, I'm not even tempted by the ND Roxa. After doing a no-buy this summer inspired by you as well, I've been a lot more selective about my make-up purchases, and I've really been enjoying shopping my stash to use what I have.
Thanks Jen. This made me rethink the ND palette because, like you, I was immediately attracted to the bright purple shade and didn't really think about the pinks surrounding it. Love the recommended alternatives. I also would like to suggest an alternative purple palette - Revolution Pro's Rock and Royal. I found mine on the clearance section of Marshall's :D
Though not the same formula the tones really remind me of my Danessa Myricks Blooming Romance palette. I’d just need to add some shimmer since it’s all matte. I don’t love all the pinks and reds on my eyes but at least with the blooming romance I wear them all as blushes. Roxa was much more pink than I was expecting and I’m so grateful to have my Lila palette. 💜 I hope someone on RUclips takes these pans out and puts them in another palatte without the purple so we can see how they really look.
I purchased the ethereal eyeshadow from the second launch… it was such a let down. The shimmery/glittery eyeshadows were gorgeous and buttery smooth. All the matte shades were what killed it for me. My the matte shades in my palette were dry, chalky, and hard to blend. Once “ blended” it looked patchy. For that reason alone I’ll pass on the moonlight palette (even though the shimmers are gorgeous) and I’ve decided to not bother with his other eyeshadow palettes.
Yes the Makeup by Mario was SCREAMING to me, but I also immediately thought of my Doll Squad 3 palette and honestly if you have that & the Sigma Blueberry quad and Tiramisu I think you are absolutely set! Thank you for helping us put on the brakes with spending.
I have quite a few ND palettes and just as you, my first impression was Wow! but you are so right, we should look at what we have before jumping on new palettes. It really helped to have you show us some alternatives that we may already have. Fortunately I have several of the ones you suggested and need to pull them out again and use them. Too often we neglect our older palettes for the new ones. Thanks to you, I can avoid that trap.

I’m actually really excited about the ND palette. Purple is my very favorite color, and I actually love ones that lean red rather than blue. I feel like I don’t see those as often in shadows, so I’m psyched. (And clearly Gen X with that…)
Amusingly, I JUST ordered those exact two Viseart palettes the other day after staring at them for ages.
Also reminds me of the nyx blue jean palete and the glamlite hersheys cookies and cream..the doll ten was shockingly similar lol

Makeup By Mario pallet looks a lot like Stone Cold Fox. A lot. I prefer Stone Cold Fox. I love that pallet. The ND pallet... it's pretty, but you could get the same looks with a few Colourpop pallets. And their formula is amazing. Edit: I said this before I watched you say it!
I have the Viseart Violette Vespertine and it really is a gorgeous muted purple palette. I even mixed it with a few purples from another palette of theirs since you can move the pans around. The shimmers are really great!

When I saw the new ND I immediately remembered the retro and why I prefer its more subdued feel. And the ND I need a nude and glam have me covered for cool tones neutrals.

I love the new Natasha but going to hold off for a mini as I have the other colors and never wear the red or bright pink. I waited on the zendo and now I just want the mini will be all I need. I’m happy to see ONE person making a video saying and making more reasonable decisions! These 2 palettes offer me nothing spectacular. I always ask myself “Do I need this and why?” I’ve been definite low buy and I know I have all these shades, plus ND formula isn’t that spectacular IMO. I just bought the ND I Need A Warm Palette after a long debate of whether or not I did need indeed need it 😂 and I got the new Alter Ego Daylight Palette. I will be ok for quite sometime! If I feel the need for a specific color I would probably buy a single. Less investment and not as much commitment! Happy Fall, all! ❤

I’m not interested in the new Makeup by Mario palette but the ND one is calling my name! I don’t have anything like it in my collection and pinks and purples are my colours. I typically wait to buy palettes to watch reviews and determine if I really want it so it’ll be at least a few weeks until I buy it if I do end up purchasing it.
The ND palette purples look a bit warm to me -- more pink than purple. I think I'll stick with my Cosmic Beauty Gothic palette. The purples in there are amazing.
As for the Mario palette, I have several cool/neutral palettes with navy blue in them. Butter London's Teddy Boy palette is great. Also, I have the BH London palette which has similar shades as well.
I have all those colors, some I would not want. Thank you for the full report. Blues I wear still a 1960's girl always far lighter these days, blue mascara.

ND didn't commit to the purple palette. She played it too safe, and the palette looks pink with colored accents. I love the with a cool toned purple and the striped, purple. Just isn't impressive. Thanks for the comparisons, Jen. Blessings!

But I knew the next ND palette to drop was definitely going to be pink in nature mainly because of Mini Rose palette that just came out. And while I do have a decent collection, I am definitely going to get the Roxa palette because I LOVE pink! So, I’m pretty excited about it 😊 By the way, your hair looks gorgeous!!🌸🌸🌸
I agree with the first mario palette. I was excited about it but as I used it I felt like the shadows blended their way off my eye as if it never happened as I blend it. It was weird. So I got rid of mine. But I can't help but get the new one with that color story! So 🙏 hopefully the shadows were made better in this new one
Thank you for the comparisons, Jen! I saw these as well, but I have the Colourpop Cloud 9 palette that reminds me quite a bit of the Mario palette, so that one didn't even tempt me. Though seeing the Doll Squad 3 palette alternative has me thinking!! 😍 And I too have SO many purple palettes that are more suited to my preferences, I'm not even tempted by the ND Roxa. After doing a no-buy this summer inspired by you as well, I've been a lot more selective about my make-up purchases, and I've really been enjoying shopping my stash to use what I have.
Thanks Jen. This made me rethink the ND palette because, like you, I was immediately attracted to the bright purple shade and didn't really think about the pinks surrounding it. Love the recommended alternatives. I also would like to suggest an alternative purple palette - Revolution Pro's Rock and Royal. I found mine on the clearance section of Marshall's :D

Though not the same formula the tones really remind me of my Danessa Myricks Blooming Romance palette. I’d just need to add some shimmer since it’s all matte. I don’t love all the pinks and reds on my eyes but at least with the blooming romance I wear them all as blushes. Roxa was much more pink than I was expecting and I’m so grateful to have my Lila palette. 💜
I hope someone on RUclips takes these pans out and puts them in another palatte without the purple so we can see how they really look.

I purchased the ethereal eyeshadow from the second launch… it was such a let down. The shimmery/glittery eyeshadows were gorgeous and buttery smooth. All the matte shades were what killed it for me. My the matte shades in my palette were dry, chalky, and hard to blend. Once “ blended” it looked patchy. For that reason alone I’ll pass on the moonlight palette (even though the shimmers are gorgeous) and I’ve decided to not bother with his other eyeshadow palettes.

Yes the Makeup by Mario was SCREAMING to me, but I also immediately thought of my Doll Squad 3 palette and honestly if you have that & the Sigma Blueberry quad and Tiramisu I think you are absolutely set! Thank you for helping us put on the brakes with spending.
I have quite a few ND palettes and just as you, my first impression was Wow! but you are so right, we should look at what we have before jumping on new palettes. It really helped to have you show us some alternatives that we may already have. Fortunately I have several of the ones you suggested and need to pull them out again and use them. Too often we neglect our older palettes for the new ones. Thanks to you, I can avoid that trap.
Yes please on comparison videos for cheaper options. Getting sucked in to having to have shadows, blushes is not for me. Thank you for taking the time to give us and yourself options or to just say pass on this one.

Jen! I really enjoy Viseart and have wanted to try the Doll 10 palette. (you introduced me to Doll 10 when they had the cream blush deal...which I loved!). I'll pass on these 2 because I have a lot of the others suggested! I can't lie, I kinda want to still try the Doll 10! ☺

I'm getting interested in purple eye shadow, so I might consider one of these palettes. Or I might buy some singles and an empty palette from Sydney Grace and make my own!

I actually have both the Viseart palettes and they are excellent (I recommend looking at their Paris palette as well)! If I want another purple, I will get the ColourPop.
