I will forever adore this series! Also, I absolutely refuse to declutter my old Nars and Tarte blush palettes because I pull them out every time I'm tempted to get a new blush palette, and then I slowly put my wallet away because I just don't use them enough to make sense. It works every time!
I also keep older palettes from Nars, Tarte and Too Faced... They last ages and the quality is unchanged. I have also noticed I often like the older color stories and options better than new palettes coming out
@@EXOmakemeHorololo Truly, once you have one, you will practically never need another 😂 And I held out on getting mine for a long time because so many of these palettes only have a couple of colors I'll wear.
I was so close to buying one of the Dior sparkly liquid lipsticks. But I don't wear liquid lipstick that much. So, I decided I could just wear a lipstick I already have with a sparkly gloss on top, instead.
Wise, wise words!!! For me, I put things I’d like to buy on a list where they must sit for at least a week or two. (I put some things on the list for months) Sometimes after just doing that, the feeling fades and you can’t even remember why you were so crazy about an item anyway! I do this for limited edition things, too. If it sells out in the meantime, it wasn’t meant to be. I refuse to panic buy items. I tend to end up regretting panic bought/impulse bought items way more than things I’ve really thought through. Most of the time, I end up realizing I didn’t really need it or I won’t really use it. I got caught up in the pretty shades or packaging. You nailed it: There is always something else exciting around the corner!
As for the sparkly lipstick: you can just tap in some sparkly eyeshadow or highlighter onto your lips over a cream/vinyl lipstick for identical effect. You don't need to buy anything to get a look that you wear twice a year. Use what you already have & be creative.
The creativity dies when you buy everything you would like to have without thinking. Last year, I was lusting after a TF shiny and glitzy lip balm- and I re-created it out of my existing stash and it was THE color of the season to me❤
Let me tell you why I both agree with you, and still buy advent calendars, why they're worth my hard earned money. After traveling 3,000 miles to spend the holidays with family for 30 years, I now happily celebrate at home, with my dog. I decorate, put the tree up, play the schmaltzy music, and put my presents, mostly from myself, under the tree. The advent calendars are my luxury splurge....which is the definition of luxury, isn't it? They bring me joy. And since I always buy the rest of my beauty products on sale, it's self financing!
I wholeheartedly agree with you about advent calendars. Those things are soooo ridiculous! I would NEVER buy one…they’re filled with ridiculous samples. They’re such a rip off
We need videos like these to keep us sane during this time of year (given all the holiday gift sets and freaken black Friday deals coming along😖). Thank you 😂
I haven't hit pan on any of my Nars Cheek palettes, but I did use up an entire Hourglass Holiday cheek palette! (The one with the ugly see thru packaging from 2019 I think it was?) The only Advent Calendar I buy now, is one for my dog :) The joy on her face every morning with her treat just makes me so happy!
What you said about the advent calendars is the simple truth! Even SpaceNK, which has amazing products in it, has sooo much stuff you wouldn't buy. I pick the stuff I am really excited about out of a calendar and sum up how much it would cost me buying these items directly. And honestly: I have found most holy grails already! And even the really good picks cost less than the calendar. And then you get the full size and correct colour you want them in. 😅
Thank you for watching out for our budgets! It’s so hard this time of year to not overspend on all the special holiday releases. You’re brutal and we’re here for it!
I already gave in on some of these (Hourglass palettes and ND I Need a Warm --- which is not aptly named because I did not, but it is great quality). I have been awaiting your next "you don't need that" video because you're the voice of reason that I need sometimes 😂
Same, bought the hourglass and nd palette and have used them everyday since I got them. so well worth it for me..... too late for the don't buy it lol...
At 36 y/o, I no longer have the time for finicky products that require a learning curve. And I honestly don't need anything; I've got everything I need. But I do love pretty things so this is one of my favorite series! My husband and bank account enjoy it too😏
OK you talked me out of the Hourglass pallete I was very close but yes last years is in my drawer and iv used it twice!! But to late ND I need a warm is already looking new and sparkly in my drawer 😂😂😂❤
I think hourglass are the most samey expensive product when you really have more than one, it almost defeats its purpose. More than one face palette, and reduces the usage of every other palette.....!! Expensive Hourglass idea is offset by everything in one place and becomes worth it by cost per use
Hi Charlotte, I love these “ YOU DO NOT NEED THAT” video, I appreciate your honesty on products, I love it when you are sassy, you make me smile, thank you so much. Love Katherine xoxo
You are a riot, but past the laughs, the truths shall RULE! I am a sucker for a great eye shadow palette, oh, and a fabulous blush.... lip products too .... THANK YOU for the intervention. It SNAPPED ME BACK TO REALITY. If I checked my beauty back ups and supplies, I could most likely open a mini Sephora myself! NO NEED FOR ANYTHING ELSE.... right now. THANK YOU.
You nailed it. I've been trying to be more mindful of my makeup purchases. If I think about it for a, even a little while, I realize I do have something that I enjoy , like this in my drawers. But , it is so tempting. Good job , lady!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💕👍🏼
You always make me laugh the most in this series. I actually do need a highlighter, and I think I'm splurging for the Gucci one during the sale. It looked glorious!
I really needed the voice of reason. Thank you Charlotte. Eye and cheek labels on palettes allow for more pigments that have been designated as “not safe for eyes”.
Hello Charlotte, my bane are my mature under-eye areas and I’m forever looking for concealer and cream to minimize the lines and wrinkles. This is where Westman Atelier’s concealer recently purchased comes in. It is the BEST that works for me! I agree it is pricey but I used my Sephora points to save $10. And YES, one should go to a store to swatch the samples! I am always Neutral but with this product, L4/ Light Peach worked for me! Thanks for your humor and blunt honesty! I always look forward to your videos!
I appreciate this series more than you know! I need to watch one of these once a week!!! I’m very guilty of being easily influenced. You look beautiful today ❤
Thank you and I am good to pass on all of them. The majority of all lux beauty has been easy for me to pass on this year. I have been very disappointed with Chanel.
Thanks for the video it was helpful but I am salivating over that top you are wearing. The color is gorgeous!!! It may be your coloring that brings it out in the video but it is stunning on you and I want it LOL!
I appreciate you Charlotte. I tell people day after day to save your money, stop buying things you don’t need and here I am, as always, ready for you to tell me I don’t need that. 💕😊
Love these You do not need that videos! Wait for something better at the corner.... yes Lisa Eldridge! As for ND, I Need a Warm is already in my pantry and I LOVE IT! The colour scheme is unic as it is neutral and warm peachy , but no orange tones, so pretty! I did resist the new Hourglass palette and it is a bit hard I admit.
I love the practicality of this series. As someone who is new to the makeup world, I don't have all those products and I find the concept of holiday collections baffling.
I always get so excited when I see these videos pop up! In regards to the WA concealer, the lipstick lesbians were comparing it to the Sarah Creal concealer. I can’t wait for some of the Sarah Creal products to pop up in reviews. They look lovely.
I swatched the new Charlotte Tilbury Beautyverse palette in Sephora yesterday. I wasn't as impressed when I saw it in person. I'm definitely going to wait for a sale. However, the Smokey Quartz pop shot single I'm definitely getting!
The timing of this video appearing on my timeline just as I wonder if it isn't time I cut back on beauty spending... Thank you! (Btw, the colours you're wearing today - ALL of them - are YOUR colours! You look stunning!)
Thank you! I live in a flat and have limited space but individually these items look pretty small and relatively affordable. But if you keep getting them that changes. I did get the I Need a Warm after a few months of thinking it over and with a 15% off coupon and I don’t regret it. I have a warm tan complexion and I only own a few of her minis and no larger palettes so it’s getting a lot of use this autumn for me. But I also got the WA concealer and it’s not yellow on me but still I regret it. Generally very solid advice for those of us turning to these channels for swatches and honest reviews.
I really appreciate this video. You must have spent sooo much time putting it together! I especially types of makeup that are often on sale! Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 I almost bought another Dior sequin lip and I bought the one that looks like concealer lip that requires a lip liner so why I wanted another one is beyond me 😂
Love this series. You are fantastic at putting things into perspective. Pet peeve. I am always puzzled, why are highlighters so big? Who uses that much highlight in their everyday life? I live in a warm climate with lots of sunlight. If I used glittery makeup when I go outside in the daytime, I would look like a disco ball. I love sparkly makeup so much but I just don’t see it as very practical. Especially the enormous quantity that highlighters come in.
I feel you! Whenever I am tempted, I remind myself I do not want sweaty looking textured skin. I actually returned my Dragon palette. The peach blushes made me look orange. I much prefer my Jellyfish.
Charlotte darling! Yet another fantastic video, thank you for your honest opinion and your sense of humor....I totally love your personality. As for these product you are showcasing today. I will not purchase simply because I do not wear a lot of makeup, however, I like to know what is new in the marketplace. Anyway, thank you so much darling!💋❤
Charlotte, I had such a giggle watching you in this video 😂 you’re really great at these, and it’s definitely a public service broadcast! You’re the RUclips friend we all need ❤
Great video! I agree with almost everything and follow a similar approach to buying my beauty products. I somewhat disagree about advent calendars. Many of them aren’t worth it, I agree. I calculated, and I’m sure it doesn’t make any financial sense to buy single-brand ones, even if you’re a fan of the brand: those give you about 20% (rarely more) discount for those products that you’d buy, but you’re paying also for samples that normally you’d get free if you were to buy actual full size products for that amount of money. But when it comes to multi-brand calendars, some of those expensive ones include 15+ full sized products and then some travel products and yes, samples. The idea is to count only those products that you want to use and would have bought anyway, then add those that you want to try but wouldn’t buy a full size for that (and smaller sizes aren’t available). From that sum, subtract 10-20% (based on what discount you might get realistically if you purchase those products separately). If whatever you calculated covers the calendar price, it is worth buying because the rest is a pleasant GWP. Otherwise, it’s not worth spending money regardless of the beautiful packaging and promised “value.”
I love these videos from you Charlotte. I'm on a very low buy currently, so this is very timely. I love your sense of humour, but even more than that, I love that you are so well informed about makeup, so understanding and non-judgmental. I think for many of us, people in our everyday lives can say things like "omg why do you need that" or "what's so special about that" or a myriad other things that will only make us feel judged and defensive. But you know makeup so well, so when you say "you don't need that, it's not that special", it comes from a very well informed place and is very hard to argue with :)
This is my favorite series on her channel and on all the entire beauty community 😂 we need this ! Last year I bought the hourglass palette because everyone said we needed them and I didn't like it that much 😢 I use my tartr blushes so much more And elf and rade beauty. I learned my lesson 😅
I am so tempted to get the dior sequin lipstick especially since I missed out last year - so this vid arrived at the right time, thanks for talking me out of it!
I'm soooooo glad that you're doing this video! I'm always looking for it. Not only do I need it, but i find them so pragmatically sensible it's entertaining. These videos are my favorite that you do. It's so honest and original. keep them coming if you can. I'll be there.
This is just the best series. I need to be talked out of buying stuff, but I don't want a lecture, I want to be laughed out of my folly. I was quite proud of myself recently for managing to resist the I need a warm. I would totally use that palette, colours are up my alley. But I concluded with the Viseart neutral mattes and coy palettes (for the peachy shimmers), plus my ND I need a nude, bronze, and glam palettes, I can already do what I could do with that INAW.
I love these videos I totally agree here with you We all tend to be drawn in but we all need to stand back & have a good think what we really want We all need to move of these videos ❤see you soon ❤
Agree on many. The dior lips though? ive been trying to get those since last year. I bought two colors and I cant wait for them. (thanks for letting me know they are out) I like a sparkly lip at night. I tried using the valentino lip sparkle over reg lipstick, it didnt work. also the hourglass pallets? I grabbed two (but I am a makeup artists and use them all the time)
I would like to state a fact: Charlotte is the best. ❤
You are so good at this!
Seems legit.
She is 💯
She sure is!!! Charlotte is the best ❤❤❤❤

I love how you leave the product image on screen the whole time you talk about it!!
I know, ppl are weirdly parsimonious about B roll and images
Your advise is very common sense. Thank you.
Much appreciated. If forget what we are talking about in videos. I watch while peeling spuds, doing the laundry, doing my nails…

I'm soooooo glad that you're doing this video! I'm always looking for it. Not only do I need it, but i find them so pragmatically sensible it's entertaining. These videos are my favorite that you do. It's so honest and original. keep them coming if you can. I'll be there.
Love these videos thank you ❤
You're hilarious😂😂 this was super helpful and entertaining at the same time. LOVED ❤
Thank you for being the voice of reason, especially regarding advent calendars!!
The best videos to watch🎉❤
This is just the best series. I need to be talked out of buying stuff, but I don't want a lecture, I want to be laughed out of my folly.
I was quite proud of myself recently for managing to resist the I need a warm. I would totally use that palette, colours are up my alley. But I concluded with the Viseart neutral mattes and coy palettes (for the peachy shimmers), plus my ND I need a nude, bronze, and glam palettes, I can already do what I could do with that INAW.
I just LOVED this!!! Honestly it was so entertaining and feeling content like you watched a 10/10 movie❤
I love these videos I totally agree here with you
We all tend to be drawn in but we all need to stand back & have a good think what we really want
We all need to move of these videos ❤see you soon ❤
Agree on many. The dior lips though? ive been trying to get those since last year. I bought two colors and I cant wait for them. (thanks for letting me know they are out) I like a sparkly lip at night. I tried using the valentino lip sparkle over reg lipstick, it didnt work. also the hourglass pallets? I grabbed two (but I am a makeup artists and use them all the time)
I love your top..❤
