oh also the clean gauze was on the CARPET then u wipe the wound with this gauze. Not to mention that there was maybe one glove change and no hand washing? Yeah you change the vac but had a grossly contaimenated drsging change.
The standard of infection prevention and control is poor. Handwash or used antiseptic gel? Use a large dressing sheet covering this carpet Insufficient glove changes! Never ever use the same gauze swab to re-clean a wound. Dump in bin then get a new swab. Never ever rub hard on wound rather pat it gently to prevent removing any new skin that is developing. Touch only that which is STERILE not the camera, not the rest of the foot etc-
Absolutely NOTHING should touch the clean environment The rest of the carpet should never touch gloves/ dressing/ lotions etc. Is it usual in the USA to apply such an enormous dressing covering good skin - this would not be my experience as there’s a risk of this causing skin breakdown of good skin? (although this may be to hold drain in place?) Use of antiseptic spray is OK. Patient is treated with kindness/dignity. All nurses must keep up to date on the aeseptic technique.
I was a little concerned about that too considering he’s taking photographs with that filthy phone and then does not change his gloves and Then touches the patient the bottle and the sterile gauze but what Do I know just saying
