    I’m so sorry that for some people this didn’t work or it was painful. I hate that anyone had that experience. But for some people there is no pain whatsoever. My MinLaw has one on a wound that has been open and never healed for over 5 years. We live with her now since her husband passed away and she has advancing dementia. I stay with her and care for all her needs 24/7. She has home health RN’s and NP’s visit her 3 times a week to change her wound vac dressing (on her chest just under her shoulder). The only pain she says she has is when they pull the tape off too fast or don’t hold the skin taught while removing. But after that, she denies any pain whatsoever. I’m so thankful as we’ve tried skin grafts, and all other wound treatments for the last 2 years that I’ve been living with her, & literally nothing has worked better.
    Again, so sorry for anyone’s pain .

      My first wound (15 cm around and 16 cm deep) that I had to wear a wound vac I wore for 5 years it never closed. After 5 year it got to 5 cm around. The dr removed the lower part of my stomach where the wound was and closed it up. Now 3 years latter the infection is back and so is the wound vac. It’s painful

    My husband is paralyzed from the waist down and had necrotizing fasciitis on this butt and he has to wear one. I’m trying to learn how to apply it myself because some of the home health nurses complain about how big his wound is and that they can’t get it to suction and some don’t have not one problem getting it to suction. It’s all up to the individual and not about how big the wound is.

    I almost died. My pubic hair started growing back and sticking. The nurses made fun. My wound was after removal of left ovarian cyst with staples being removed. I screamed and had to take dilaudid before each change.

    I'm hooked up to one right now with two hoses on one pump. The results so far have been amazing in keeping the wound dry and closing up the wound allowing twenty staples without need forcstitches or any other form of stitch. Cannister needed changing twice a day for the first week but now it's every two days or more. An amazing machine.

      How would you say the level of discomfort or pain is? I may have one put on and I’m pretty scared.

    • @GB-vn1tf
      @GB-vn1tf Год назад +2

      @kv52397 I'm still on it now, change the canister around once a week now as that's as long as you're meant to keep one on, and just one tube now.
      As for pain, I'd say next to none at all, occasionally I get a little sharp pain for a second or two, but honestly nothing to worry about on pain side. As for discomfort, and being slightly awkward getting moving, it's nothing to be that bothered about. You have honestly nothing to worry about as my wound is coming through amazingly, only problem is where the wound is as sitting or standing tents to have opened it more than it was previously, but that would have happened no matter what unless the staples were in longer, but they took them out afterc14 days. My only regret is that the nurses took three days to start using it after the doctor said to use it so the sooner you get it working, the better.
      Best wishes

      @@GB-vn1tf Thank you so much for responding! My surgery was two weeks ago and since it was on my lower back, the wound’s opened up. PA told me the same thing-can’t really be sure what caused it but bc of placement any movement could’ve opened it up. I hope you get well soon! Definitely been worried about the pain and discomfort but you made me feel better about it overall! Thanks again. Best wishes!

      I am on a vac unit at the moment and would agree that at first in the hospital it felt like torture but now (3 weeks in) it doesn’t really hurt anymore - just pressure…occasionally it stings a little around an exposed tendon in my wound. Now I can say it probably does hurt more depending on the wound you have.

      Alternating mattress pressure pad might be what you need. My mother slept on it for 2 years no turning at all. And never got a pressure sore. And because it alternates it has helped heal the wound she got from the hospital.

      @@PersonaIncognito I'm glad you're okay but for me it was hell. I am luckily off the pump now. I had necrotic tissue removed and I had a hole in my leg. That's why I had a pump on. I talked to other people and they were in a lot of pain too. Just the fact that the machine is sucking on the raw opened up wound hurts a lot, removal and dressing change is unbearable. I had to be sedated and also get a local anaesthetic injected in order for them to be able to change the dressing.
