    Supplies:
    Medium Weight Yarn [4]. (68 g / 128 yds) (Affiliate Link for Yarn: www.anrdoezrs.n...)
    4 mm (G) and 5 mm (H) crochet hooks (Affiliate Link for Hook: tidd.ly/3cL8s12 )
    Scissors, Stitch Marker, Yarn Needle
    Gauge:
    approximately 16 dc in 4 inches
    approximately 3 inches for each repeat section of R2 to R5
    Not imperative but if your stitches have big spaces between them that you can see through you need to go down a hook size (or two) until you are crocheting a more solid fabric. Only a few rounds of the skirt are meant to have a more open appearance. All the top rounds are meant to be solid.
    Finished Size
    9 inches (stretches to 10 inches) in height
    20 inches (flat surface) circumference. Stretches to 24 inches circumference.
    This hat will fit Teen/Adult. (small-medium)
    If you want a larger size hat, increase the band by 6 rows. This will give you 6 additional stitches and an additional 1.5-2 inches in size for the main hat. For additional height, repeat the R6-9 one additional time before moving to R10 in the instructions. This will add approximately 3 inches in height for you and make the hat more slouchy.
    For a smaller size hat (child/toddler), stop the band rows after row 60. Work a total of 60 dc for the first round in the body of the hat section and omit rounds 9 onward in the pattern. Work Round 9 as follows: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), *dc2tog over the next ch1sp and dc**. Rep from * to ** across. 1 dc in the last st. Sl st to the top of the initial ch 3 to join. [16] Then finish off and close the hat. This will make the hat approximately 6.5 to 7 inches in height.
    Special Stitches
    Cluster (CL)
    Insert hook into specified stitch or space, yarn over and pull up 1 loop. Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch (or space), yarn over and pull up 1 loop.* Rep * to ** 2 times. You will now have 6 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through 5 loops. You will have 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops.
    Notes:
    Ch 3 counts as 1 dc when worked at the beg of the row. This means you do not work into the dc that falls beneath it.
    Ch 4 counts as 1 dc and ch 1, when worked at the beg of the row. This means you do not work into the tr that falls beneath it.
    Sl st does not count as a stitch.
    the band is seamed at the end using a simple whipstitch
    Stitch Multiple: 6

    The crochet under both loops at the end of each row of the brim is genius. Normally this type of brim leaves the ends all uneven and this simple step gives a nice clean line. I will be adding this to other patterns that call for this type of brim! 💞

    Is it me, am I going mad? but once the rib is finished and then I double crochet into the top of the rib the 66 stiches end up as 132 stitches surely? as I go into the troughs of each top of the rib as well as the peaks. When you look closely at the video it appears that every stitch is filled but like I said it must be me. Can anyone out there put me right please as I agree it's such a lovely hat and I've done the rib already.

    I have to ask why do you turn the job every new round?

    • @oombawkadesigncrochet
      @oombawkadesigncrochet  3 года назад +2

      I do this because the stitch pattern needs to be offset by working in rows - if you don't turn for those rounds then the stitch doesn't quite line up properly and it doesn't look quite right. Hope this helps! Rhondda

      Read the pattern. It tells you how to make it bigger etc

  • @stineh460
    @stineh460 5 лет назад +1

    with 66 rows do u mean every turn as a row or just the bumping out ones?

    • @stineh460
      @stineh460 5 лет назад +1

      mine also keep twisting not sure what I do wrong it looks like a spiral lol

    • @sherit8594
      @sherit8594 5 лет назад +2

      The multiples of the pattern is 6. So make the band as many rows (count between the bumps) until it reaches the circumstances of the head you're making this for.

    • @sherit8594
      @sherit8594 5 лет назад +1

      And yes turn every row. Watch a video on making rim of hats/beanies

    • @oombawkadesigncrochet
      @oombawkadesigncrochet  4 года назад +1

      Hi Stine, if it is twisting, there are 2 things that could be happening. One is that the stitches are a bit tight with the yarn and hook combination you are using or 2 there could be missing or extra stitches happening occasionally. Were you able to figure out how to make the hat? I'm sorry I haven't responded until now - for some reason my notifications were not making it to my inbox.

    Hello. I'm pretty new to crochet this will be my third project. I'm confused about the written instructions compared to the video. The repeating instructions say "*1 sc in the next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, (1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) in the next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc**." So shouldn't there be a double crochet and single crochet right next to each other? Because of the sk2dc at the end and the 1 sc in the beginning?

    • @TeamSwitzerland411
      @TeamSwitzerland411 5 лет назад

      Also it looks like your doing single crochets where the instructions say double unless I really don't know how to read this, which is entirely possible.?? Pls help 😭

    • @TeamSwitzerland411
      @TeamSwitzerland411 5 лет назад +2

      I thought on it and I realized you're saying to skip 2 double crochets, not to skip 2 then double crochet. My b 😂

      When you rib it`s the back loop.
