  • The Honeycomb Beanie crochet pattern is a cozy, textured beanie worked in the Honeycomb Smock Stitch. After learning the Honeycomb Smock Stitch not too long ago, I knew that I wanted to crochet a beanie in it! It has an amazing texture and it creates a thick, warm fabric.

11:19 small mishap: meant to say a long single crochet not long double crochet, for anyone that caught that, might be confusing. i love this tutorial can’t wait to make it!

I can’t believe how much I like this stitch! I’ve been looking for something different for a scarf and matching hat for a cousin, and I think this is going to be it! It looks thick and warm without a lot of holes like some of the other pretty stitches end up with! Thank you so much for the excellent clear and precise instructions and well done video demonstration! God bless!

I just did a scarf in this lattice stitch (Tunisian) but I’m having difficulty with this hat. I’m going to have to practice this a number of times.

@anndecallender2829 I was only knitting but haven't touched the needles for over 40yrs😅.
I looked up quite a few basic stitches and when coming to this video I feel the beanie was lovely so I tried.
This is how I feel after completing it. The brim was ok. The body with honeycomb stitch became too thick & stiff for my liking. I feel if I leave the body honeycomb, I have to change the hook use for thr brim a little smaller so it's tighter & gives more support overtime. Or keep hook size for the brim, change the body hook is a little bigger to keep the yarn softness.
I love the hnc pattern and will do a few sofa cover, it would feel good during winter time.

I'm finishing this beanie up. If you have a tight tension I recommend sizing 1 size up for your hook. Mine is really really dense and thick. Thicker than in the video and doesn't have much movement but that's my fault. This pattern is beautiful and easy. Next time I will size up! I could also see this modified for a half double crochet too!

Instruction clarification: At 10:30, the verbal instructions say a "long double crochet", but then a long single crochet is used. At 11:36 the verbal instructions switch to "long single crochet".

I was able fo finish a beautiful hat because if your easy to follow instructions. But for those who did not get the pattern right in rows 3&4 there is a correction that must be mentioned:
Instructions are: after slip stitch and chain 1, do not turn your work. Do 1 single crochet, then in the next stitch under the stitch of the second row do 1long double crochet ( you mention that a couple of times).
Correction: after the 1 single crochet do 1 long single crochet....
Thank you for the beautiful pattern
