Long term subscriber here and someone who at nearly 80 has benefitted a great deal from your videos and your book, for which I am grateful. Just a little willpower, routine and your various exercises really do produce results. Thank you. 👍
Thanks, I’m grasping this video. Us older people need all the tools we can get! I’m 66 and I was working hard until one year ago when zI sold my home in the mountains where I was cutting, splitting and stacking 4 to 5 cords of wood, mountain biking, hiking and some rock climbing when I wasn’t shoveling snow or remodeling my house. Now that I’m retired I need this video and more like it! I would love to see one on how to care for your feet, planters foot etc.
Just subscribed and I'll share. Best physio channel I've come across. I'm 63, relatively fit and active but I've noticed I've been loosing muscle strength gradually. The clear and consistent information and advice is starting to pay dividends in my over all leg strength. 😊
I needed these. I do get a sharp pain on the top of my left wrist when I do them. I also get sore wrists if I try anything on all fours eg cow/ cat pose very annoying. Hopefully these exercises will help thank you.
Can you do pushups without paint? One recommend way to increase wrist strength is to do pushups on your fists while on your knees and on carpet. Strengthen's your forearms which are important for wrist strength.
That is a wonderful help, terrific exercise especially for all of us believing once we lose our grip that’s the end of opening bottle lids etc THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH. Patricia
You're never too old to build strength, either endurance or power. You already have strength just being alive, but in an emergency you need extra strength to save yourself, that's why staying strong is so important.
Another excellent exercise from you. I was using a special bottle opener, and was worrying why I had no strength!! Started today and added this exercise to my plan. Any chance of DVD,s?
I love your videos and am so thankful for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us for free. Best wishes for all things to come to you Will. You are exceptional.
Thank you for your time and consideration, these uploads clearly, impart knowledge and no doubt provide a calming balm for many. Concerns about ageing for me can be anxiety generating, your expertise ameliorates issues I have about my own inevitable decrepitude. As I've implemented your mobility advice my concerns are considerably diminished when I conquer imbalance, pain and unwelcome muscle stiffness when I take up your suggestions. Thank you 🙏
I got so excited when I saw this video - I assumed there was no solution to my noticeable loss of grip strength since we already exercise (aka use) our hands constantly - thank you for the good news!
What I periodically use are those softer balls the size of tennis balls. You can carry a couple with you; the are perfect for people who have a slight case of arthritis.
These are exactly what I need, thank you! For the farmer’s carry, I always have jugs of lightweight cat litter around, they’re about 10 pounds with a good handle/grip, and will be perfect for this.
Great video and very relevant. Are the hand-grip strength 'tools' like hand grippers, finger stretchers, doughnuts, sticky eggs/balls and others useful or just gimmicks?
Just stumbled upon your YT channel and like your suggestions for the not as young people...LOL! I use to do some free weight lifting in my even younger days, but I use bands and body weight, as well as some objects around the house to keep it functional...like the farmers do on the farm. I just turned 67, and I do wrist curls with a 2.5 plate. Rolling up and down as one rep, and rolling forward and backwards. I also use the 5gal water jugs delivered to us for the Farmer's Carry. Thank you for your suggestions and examples of what NOT to do and what TO DO instead!
I have noticed that with the farmers carry it works quite well if you have larger than the normal 1" bar on the dumbbell. Oversized grips are available or a hand towel wrapped around the bar will help.
I'm headed into my late 60s. I like those, especially the towel wring, go ahead and make the towel wet wring as hard as you can until you can't get one more drop to drop. Then try harder! Also farmer carries. If you do go to the gym try grabbing a weight plate with a pinch grip for the carries. Then too, I like going to the climbing gym, and climb. I also like to hang ice axes from the basement ceiling, and hang from those, do rows, pull ups. A real grip builder! But then I have been doing this for many decades. I think for 99% of us seniors, the exercises provided are excellent.
This is exactly what I needed. I have lost a lot of strength in my hands and wrists. These exercises are straight forward and easy to accomplish. Thanks, Will! 🇦🇺🦘
I have incorporated many of your exercises into my routine and I find them to be very effective. I am subscribed, but I haven’t quite gotten around to buying your book yet.

Wishing you all the best!
I like the farmer carries because it strengthens every tendon at once and that's why farmers are so strong.
Brilliant. Your lessons are realistic and not intimidating.
Thank you!

Can i do these grip
exercises with arthritis in my wrists and thumb? Been to see a consultant who advised me non weight bearing.
Excellent video's
None of the exercises are weight bearing or non-functional so yes you could.
Absolutely worth subscribing. Will's advice is all good, doable-at-home, and steeped in common sense
Thank you so much for your kind endorsement!
Thank you, Will. Great instructions.
You're welcome!
For the farmer's carry, the weights have to be heavy, no?
Using a flexbar and achieve the same results , for the first three exercises.
What I periodically use are those softer balls the size of tennis balls. You can carry a couple with you; the are perfect for people who have a slight case of arthritis.
Grip and release reminds me of milking the cow 😂

How heavy weight should you use?
I wish your book, Thriving Beyond Fifty, was available in Kindle eBook format.
Thank you for this. I have noticed a big change in what my fingers will or will not do. Btw, I prefer ‘older adult’ to senior.
My shoulders are operated when i ffelll down, i am 70yrs old, please let me know whether i can do thease exercises??

What should be weight of dumbbell?
I'd like to know this also. I've been having issues with swelling in my hands, finger s & I don't want to overdo hand exercises

Farners walks are great but you should aim to get up to 1/2 your body weight in each hand and walk over 100 steps.
