I just turned 57 and have had physical therapy - no one has addressed so many of the issues you have! I am beyond grateful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Yahoo! I have hope and motivation ! ❤️ Thank you!!!
I did these exercises in a program called SAIL offered at my local Senior Center. It was very beneficial to me and made many improvements to my overall health. Unfortunately it was cancelled during Covid19 and was not picked back up by my Senior Center later. I found I did much better with a group of people rather then on my own. I did the class three times a week. Hopefully they will get back to it soon. I've been advocating for it.
I’m 69 with poor balance and mobility issues. I’ve just discovered your videos and they are very informative and easy to understand. I will definitely be watching more of them. Thanks
What clear, straightforward information...the best video I've found on avoiding falls. This is something that is of serious concern to people my age, and I'm very glad to see it treated so seriously by you! Well done! And thanks a million!
excellent !! I teach seniors these concepts in my Chair yoga classes ! I love to use your well researched information to keep current on these mobility issues. Thank you!
I forgot what I was going to say. . . Seriously, thank you for this. I noticed my 'cat like' reflexes are not what they used to be and never thought of trying to reverse it by exercise. I'll give this a try. Appreciate your advice.
Loved your clear and precise video. I have had issues with dizziness and proprioception since early childhood. At 75, with a diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy, I have my work cut out for me! Your recommendations have been added to my daily list of exercises to help me achieve the balance and strength required to stay on my feet!
I am 86 years young. I exercise regularly. However, I enjoyed your poor balance exercises, and especially was happy learning from you how the vision and hearing affects balance and providing the exercises we can practice to help minimize some of the symptoms. Thank you very much. I plan to continue. I also visit your website and will see what else you have to share.
Thank you for watching my videos and visiting my website! I'm pleased my videos have been of help, it's really important to have an understanding of why things are happening and how to prevent them in order to keep yourself safe and healthy - wishing you all the best!
Thanks for your clear and precise instructions. I’m 88 and having trouble with my balance. I think maybe my ears have a lot to do with it so am intending to follow the exercises and hope this helps
Great imformation. Thanks for sharing. The eye and head movement is an excercise I took up many years ago. It was recommended to keep the muscles of the eyes busy for better eyesight. I am approaching the 60 mark. I cannot really tell wether it works but while many younger people in my enviroment need glasses, I still can get through tests without problems. I took up the stand to sit a while ago and made it a habit to do it slowly every time I sit down. I still lack the last 2" but coming from about 6+" I call that an improvement. I do other excercises too and I increased my protein intake quite a bit. So far I lost some fat and gained more than 1" on circumference on the thighs. Some lower back pain improved as well. That in turn improved balance considerably. I´ll give the other excercises a shot as well.
Thank you so much for these very helpful "retraining" steps to take. Each exercise is valuable and I was surprised by just how weak I've become on trying them. I'll now incorporate them into my daily balance building routine and hope to see better results soon. Thank you again.
I feel blessed that your video appeared on my iPad.. They’re awesome. So helpful. I can’t thank you enough. Blessings to you, and a very healthy and Happy New Year.
Absolutely helpful tips. Thank you for enabling seniors to take control of balance issues which is one of the primary causes for falls. I like the last exercise on propriation receptors being activated; something that looks easy and yet is not. Thank you, Mr Harlow for your contributions to the aging community in their fierce fight to retain physical independence.
Thank you sir for this helpful advice. I'm 63 and am doing what I can to stay healthy with a good diet and exercise. I know a few people in their upper 70s and lower 90s with balance problems, and it's frightening for them.
I’m sure glad I found your channel! That chair exercise will be my hardest! I have a very hard time getting up from a setting position! I know my legs are weak! lol I workout twice a week at the hospital! Thank you for sharing!
You are doing a great service And your demonstrations of examples of different exercises with the explainion are simple practical functional and helpful You are great instructor with equally good instincts projecting your skills and knowledge to the public that we can process and trust We wish you many more years of gratitude guidance and support Great Job! You are a natural!!! Outstanding person!!! Thank you very much & God bless!!! Michael DeBonis
You are very dedicated in your great effective exercises for seniors through which got me walking and improved my weak legs. Thank you so much, stay blessed.
Absolutely fantastic help and advice Will. Bless you. You're next level. Such simple and basic tips yet so effective. I love your videos. THANK YOU. André (South Africa)
Great knowledge and exercises. It seems that maintaining "balance" is often ignored or glossed over on health guru podcasts. Peter Atilla mentions it (I think he calls it something else), but mainly from keeping muscles strong, not the other issues (at least in podcasts I've seen). It's not "sexy" but it is really crucial and low hanging fruit. So many people (especially seniors) get hurt in falls, and often end up dying in the hospital thereafter. Thanks for developing these podcasts!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge Will! Your videos are very well explained, helpful and your exercise routines are great! Keep up the good work!🙌❤👍
This is wonderful help. Thanks so much for your clear, patient way of guiding us through these excellent exercises and for concisely explaining what’s causing these balance changes.👍🏾
Thanks for sharing. Should we look at how to prevent falls, that's more comprehensive than improving balance? Sometimes, a senior falls because of slipping or tripping. While improving balance can reduce chance of falls, fall prevention can be enhanced by teaching seniors how to react & recover from that slip or trip, assuming this can be trained. Appreciate your advice on training that'd improve this response to slips & trips. Thanks.
Brilliant video beautifully explained and easy to follow. I am practicing your videos and seeing great improvement in my balance. I have a question; You are a young person and I am curious if you will share how you got interested in helping seniors. Thank you for creating these videos. You are helping lots of folks.
Oh my gosh thank you! I really needed to hear this one. Huge issues with balance I’m F/52. Good health and weight but balance is off. Fallen several times once really badly before i was 50. Hard to get up felt gravity against me. Your leg exercises are fabulous! Do you have any suggestions for the backside directly under bum..like were all those muscles come together to form hamstrings..is there any relief to strengthen that or stretch it out? Thank you for all you do to help us and the demeanor that goes along with it. ❤
I'm 68 and starting to wobble a bit but no falls yet. According to my research, the butt muscles, the Gluteus maximus, (also called hamstrings or "glutes") are crucial for balance, mobility and stability. Just search glute exercises and you will find lots of material. A full lower body exercise routine including strength and balance exercises (balance on one lag, toe raises with hold, etc) is crucial for a healthy old age. There is a ton of information about exercise for seniors. I like Margaret Martin, Physiotherapist. Good luck. Do it; you don't want to fall anymore - 50% of senor fall victims die within two years due to effects of the broken hip, etc. Cheers!
Hi Will, great video(s)! I just turned 70 and coincidentally also just found your channel, or maybe it found me. I've been going to the gym regularly now for over 2 yrs and although my lower body strength is good, I have bone on bone arthritic knees, which do impact one's ability to comfortably perform the exercises. Any pointers to assist those of us with the chronic pain to complete them? I do take anti-inflammatory meds but none totally negate the pain. Thanks so much.
Subbed. I'm impressed by how you rely on actual medical science to create appropriate exercises. Your credibility is only slightly diminished due to your age... or lack thereof. :D
Ive had 3 tkr on right leg, 2 ankle recos. Terrible balance and muscle loss. Made worse by osteo in r hip. Tried Tai Chi, agony after. Continual nerve pain. Looking for simple exercises so these are good.
Walking football is great to help all of these. Competitive without those issues that may be too much for us older people. Small pitch and goals with no outfield player allowed inside the 3 metre semi-circle goal area. No running (though the walking may be very close to a jog), minimal contact - especially from the side and behind, ball is not allowed to go over head(ish) height nor be played with the head, ball cannot be played whilst any part of your body other than your feet is in contact with the ground. The game stops for any player safety issue. There are hundreds of clubs across the UK and many more all over the world. I am now 70 and I'm fitter now than I was 10 years ago when I started playing this game, being at work and walking around did not prepare me for the core strength and agility needed. Just because we're older does not mean that our heads have forgotten that competitive spirit!
I just turned 57 and have had physical therapy - no one has addressed so many of the issues you have! I am beyond grateful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Yahoo! I have hope and motivation ! ❤️ Thank you!!!

I'm not yet 50, but I very much find these videos quite informative and applicable.
I am 79 with poor balance and will certainly try this out. I like your relaxed mode of teaching.🙂
Thanks so much!!! 74 here, coming off a mild stroke. Glad to see all these exercises before my muscles atrophy!
I'm sorry to hear about your stroke - I'm wishing you all the best in your recovery!
