I love this music video. My dad is deaf, and I grew up immersed in deaf culture. It's always so lovely to see avenues of entertainment normally catered to hearing audiences finding ways to include deaf culture in respectful ways.

I've never seen that before and I love Ed! I think it's BSL. My ASL is pretty limited, but there are signs in that song which I would have recognized if it were ASL. Pretty awesome!

+Alex Yap Just like spoken languages there are different signing languages - for example in America they use ASL (American Sign Language) in Britain/UK they use BSL. I live in Australia and we use Auslan, so even though they are all english speaking countries we all use different types of signs. And just like in spoken language each signed language has dialects, which means that somethings may be signed differently depending on where you are in the country. :)

Ok, I really want to learn sign language now. I can imagine it's such an invaluable skill, and why aren't we all taught it from primary school?
Because they think Spanish starting in Kindergarten is more valuable, or at least they did in my school. The same Spanish class over and over again for seven years. I have learned more ASL in one year by looking at websites and videos than I learned in seven years of actual Spanish classes. Though I would not try to have a conversation in either language.
There is still a desperate need for ASL-Spanish translators! Learn both! Huge need still!!
Really I'd say that schools don't really have the time to fit the whims of everyone. I want to learn German and that's on me, I don't expect my school to help out.
Whims are not the point. Most people who want to learn a language don’t have “a sudden desire or change of mind, especially one that is unusual or unexplained.” Almost all schools teach Spanish and most high schools offer French, German, and Latin. Very few schools offer ASL unless they have Deaf/HOH students.
PLEASE do learn it! it is one of the best experiences i have had thus far. i love being involved with deaf culture

I love it! From what I know of ASL, a lot of it is about your facial expression and that really makes this style of video perfect for the song. The sassiness comes through perfectly!
I love this! Not only is ASL used, but it's also captioned! As someone with hearing loss, it's so hard to watch videos, movies, shows, even commercials without captions especially. You don't realize what you're missing out on and it's not a fun feeling.

I love ASL, I'm taking a class next year because it's great. One benefit is obviously communicating with deaf people or just people who know asl, but I feel like it's so much more expressive than just normal speaking.

Actual best music video. I love that Ingrid took a message of inclusivity away from seeing Spring Awakening, and I love seeing these fantastic actors on my screen! Hopefully more artists take a leaf out of her book and start using ASL (or whatever Sign is native to their country) in their music videos!

I love this so much! My brother is Hard of Hearing and has Down Syndrome so ASL is his first language. Always love seeing it portrayed in music. Beautiful. Definitely sharing this vid with my Deaf friends!
