I'm a huge fan of the show and the whole cast so seeing them finally getting exposure makes me feel so proud (especially when you think about the fact that they started in a small warehouse theatre at Inner City Arts). It's a truly breathtaking production that means so much to so many people and especially to the deaf community; it's a pity it had to leave Broadway so soon 😢. No okay I am ALL ABOUT this new trend of ASL music videos. I don't even care if bands are just jumping on the bandwagon I encourage MORE to do so! This is so important for deaf and HOH people everywhere. Music is a language of its own, an expression of feelings and stories and heart, and it's so important for those who can't hear it to still be included and be a part of it. Music is for everyone. :)
Amy Wallace i agree but there is that problem of people making asl videos that are roughly translated and arent visually pleasing and then its not geared toward non hearing people but towards people who can hear and cant tell that its not accurate signing. this video is one of the really good ones, but their are some bad ones out there.
Amy Wallace, Wat about the mute who hear but, not speak. I used to b mute & once in a while, my bf gets upset when, i can't say wat i wan or can't say wat i feel i go back to use A.S.L he then says, "no baby! say it cuz i don't understand which makes both of us sad. I'll help u wit the word, thou okie baby." i say "okie." but, wat about those who r still mute is it okie for them to follow wit music??
Hinata Ann Michaca I think that's totally cool. Sign was created to give a voice to people who otherwise wouldn't have one-that's deaf/hoh people, sure, but also mute people, people with autism spectrum disorders, panic disorders (I have a friend who resorts to sign during panic and dissociative episodes) and learning disability. It's very very important in the deaf community but it's not exclusively ours.
I love your comment because it is true. Music has been a huge part of my life and when I thought of the deaf community it gave me further encouragement to learn and have a channel to where people can go.
I want to do something like this!!!! Ever since I took 1 ASL class! Would love a musical in ASL!!!!! Sound and vibrations are part of my animation. (Overwhelming task but I want to do it.) :O a really good translator would really help.

I really can't say enough how cool this is to see. I love seeing the deaf community being featured more in the arts (Deaf Spring Awakening was one of the best musicals I had the privileged to see) And Sandra is just a gem. She's so talented and honestly such a sweetheart
I sadly don't speak sign language but I love watching it spoken. Such a beautiful, expressive language. I'd love to see more music videos like this.

I'm HoH so seeing a signed version of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands made me cry of happiness - and pride lol. This is as awesome as the Deaf character on Supernatural, Eileen (which also made me cry a LOT.) sandra's performance in this video inspired me to learn ASL. I also saw her in season of love and i about fell out of my chair- wish she had gotten more screen time! her acting and her character is SO GOOD.

Signing music is its own Creative art form and I love seeing it and love the lyrics too
I found the lyrics “kicked out of the family tree” to be about LGBTQA ppl’s struggles and the deaf community has this struggle too. Unfortunately church groups often prey on the deaf community and often they are the only places that cater to deaf communities so the deaf community can be very religious. This makes LGBTQA deaf folks’ struggle even more alienating.
