Haha this was an epic day my man, thanks for having me💪🏾
Thanks for the seat time :D Fun drive indeed
Your 8R looks perfect. What size spacers are you running?
Had a mk5 Supra and needed more practicality so I got an Elantra N. Missed some of the refinement in the Elantra so I bought a mk8 R. This car is the perfect blend of both of those cars. It hauls ass, is usable, and a riot on some backroads.
Sounds like you could of afforded the Supra and daily, surprised you didn’t go that route
@@Erkkremlinklum Also got a motorcycle. Can't justify so many toys and don't have the garage space for more.
Thinking I'll move from Kona N Premium to Golf 8R/SQ2 once I land that six-figure job.
Now that there are stories about engine blowing up in GR Corolla, the golf r is now back in the chat
VW has had their fair share of blown up engines, mostly with the MK6 and earlier engines. The EA888.3 in the MK7/7.5 have proven to be very reliable, but it’s still dependent on their owners. I personally know 4 individuals who have blown their EA888.3 motors in their MK7/7.5 GTI/R’s with under 100k miles in each of them (every single one of them were running an EQT tune w/pops n’ bangs). My MK7 GTI is running perfectly strong and has almost 180k miles on it.
The EA888.4 in the MK8 GTI/R is a stronger version of the EA888.3, so it should hold up very well. But still, as an owner, you’ve got to be smart. Running pops n’ bangs everywhere isn’t good for any engine.
@@JacesOwnWorldHybrid turbo MK7 here thru SneekyTuned I’m at 130k miles and I gapped a Snaxpack charger yesterday to show off to my friend for fun, can vouch its owner care for the reliability lol
it never left. Lots more tuning overhead too.
Sweet Golf R. Looked like a lot of fun in the rain!
In UK a stage 1 tune on this car is like 405 bhp?
Does the R have a front and rear diff? I’m a newbie but starting to get interested in the R.
Which tune is on this Golf R?
Have to get you behind the wheel of my HPA VR550T this summer!
I remember when The Smoking Tire had a couple of their tuned cars down in California. They were crazy fast.👍
Let's do it.
Good call
@@blueman5924I remember when the Smoking Tire was actually cool. They now only pander to the wealthy class.
I've never seen driving such a car with arms outstretched
I’m gonna make a hoodie that says you’re not enough
this intro is fking hard
new S3 has the rear sport diff too....
It does! Hence the subtitle with the correction :)
Ehm, well thats like middle finger to ur brother lol.. Basically same car, same engine xD
golf r and s3 are literally the same they just different exteriors lol
Point was 2024 S3 doesn't have the torque-vectoring diff :D no drifts. + interior as I mentioned
@@RoadsUntraveled2025 S3 is getting the torque vectoring diff FINALLY
The golf R has 7hp more than the s3 so in theory it is superior stock for stock .
Idk why I do this to myself…I picked up a 2024 GTI SE w/leather a few weeks ago and can’t keep thinking to myself that I should’ve looked for an R at MRSP! My dealer wouldn’t budge on the 5k markup for the R. I couldn’t justify the 15k on top of my car at the time. But watching the videos of the R pulling a dig got me jealous!
Yep. I should have waited a year and then got an R versus a GTI. But needed a car and Rs were marked up and impossible to find last may
Gti is good.
I understand that. My biggest gripe about my MK7 GTI is that it’s FWD. Yes, it’s modded to the point now that it handles really good for what it is, even with its base version and “one-wheel-peel”. But it still doesn’t handle nearly as well as my modded E46 M3, and it’s due to it being FWD.
Ive told myself I wouldn’t ever buy another VW, but dang man, now that the R is RWD biased, and AWD standard, it’s hard to not justify it as a future purchase. It’s such a practical, great mpg vehicle, and the MK8 R has enough performance from the factory to make me happy. But having AWD would make the car much funner as a daily, and I wouldn’t mind taking it on snowy road trips
My MK7 GTI has had a lot of little things that have gone wrong, but all of it has been due to me modding and tuning it (bought it brand new and tuned it after 2k miles)(now has almost 180k miles). So it’s been a great car, but not a no-fault car either. But I’m positive that if I never tuned it modded the car, it never would have had 95% of the issues it’s had. So, the MK8 R is something I would be able to live with just fine without tuning it, but still get that excitement I desire out of it. All it would need is some suspension, wheels, and tires. That’s it.
My 3 door facelift “hatchback” audi S3 is a middle finger to the Golf R! 😂
Golf R smokes the s3 though .
@@tylerda282 except the 2017 S3 (the fastest it has the 228KW engine but doesn’t have the restrictions that came from 2018) you can see this evidenced on the carwow video on here. It even leathers the M140i over the quater mile. As mine is the 3 door from 2017 its the fastest S3 available still. it weighs 1430KG. Which is lighter then the golf R at 1553KG.
Edit the one on the carwow video is a sportsback that smokes the m140i and the Golf R. The one i own smokes the sportsback.
@@philwhatever3903 yes the 2017 R also came with 228kw the difference being the 2017 228kw versions of the R and S3 came with dq250 6 speed gearboxes and the 7,5 came with the 7 speed upgraded clutch so that is a restriction, the 6 speed clutch had major problems putting the power down so it was discontinued and revised . The 2017 R and S3 were both 228kw though.
@@tylerda282 i own the S3 and it has the “7” speed Stronic dual clutch. 🤣

@@tylerda282 if you check the Audi sport website many people have posted their draggy times. Usually the S3 is faster than the Golf R. (Un tuned) But as we say a lot depends on which model. Most sportsback times are around 12.6 quater miles. Both in draggy and on the strip. Golf R around 13 seconds.
Do a heart transplant: remove the R engine and put an Audi RS engine in it. Add turbo, intercooler, exhaust system, PMC , and carbon ceramic brakes. 700hp 😎
Haha Al had mentioned this as well but it didn't make the video. Great sleeper if you ask me
@@RoadsUntraveled if I had the money I’d definitely get one built for myself.
Ummm, no. That would cost another $40k+, putting your R with that engine at almost $100k. Just buy an RS3 at that point.
@@JacesOwnWorld it’s been done before. You do what works for you, and I do what works for me. Your calculations are off by $30,000. Plus it’s basically building your own Super car from scratch. You can’t put a price tag on that.
@@ceeze9923”it’s been done before” yeah by people with the time and knowledge, to the average joe it’s not the same lol. You have a lot of coding and other work to make it work with the chassis, it’s not so easy or cheap as the internet makes it seem. Plus the cost of a wrecked RS for the donor parts
it should of been faster then the RS3 if golf was smart
Great car but they sound fucking gash!
Try 'slow benz times square' in search box lads.. 👋😶🌫️
Just drove yesterday against an 380 tuned golf R on the highway. He was not fast at all, actualy around 180-200km/h I gained on him. I have a standard 2015 S3 sedan.
And then you woke up.

No es normal
1:40 traction control comes on...(ping) Turn that shit off. also plot twist, VW make both audi and golfs.
First?
That's what you get with shitty tires + rain... put some PS4S or Sportcontact 7 and you'll be good...😔
PS4S would transform the car, you're not wrong haha.
Too bad golfs now are all automatic, yuck
Not true 2024 still offers a manual option
