Kaye's best material was written by his wife, Sylvia Fine. (How lucky can you get?) "The Court Jester" is arguably the greatest of all movie farces, a parody (in part) of "The Adventures of Robin Hood." "The Maladjusted Jester" mirrors Gilbert & Sullivan's "Oh, a Private Buffoon", which was unavailable for copyright reasons. Give it a look.
I love mr.Danny Kaye he was a great humantiarn and a kind wonderful man who shared his talent with all of us to his daughter where ever she is we still love him
when i was small in the early fifties we had a record single of danny singing "the fox" but i only remember the gist of the song being the part that begins "whenever they try to find me, they find me where i am not...etc", none of that other showbizzy stuff, just a simple tune simply sung. my cuzzy & i played it over and over along with another of a country star singing a song called "hummingbird". under supervision my parents would put on a set of 78's containing the read out story of "bambi"!
This never fails to amuse. I absolutely love this movie!!!! This is my favorite song in the whole thing. And I agree, this movie should NEVER be remade. Lets not spoil it's perfection.
Danny Kaye was a GOOD friend of Alma Cogan, and a frequent guest at the numerous house parties given by Alma and her mother. Other close friends were Leonard Bernstein, Lionel Bart, Elizabeth Taylor, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis Jr, Noël Coward ...and Lennon & McCartney, of course. Alma was well-known for awhile as being a constant companion of, and the woman most likely to marry Brian Epstein (yes, he was *mostly* gay, but totally in love with Alma). She died of cancer a year before his accidental OD.
The man could sing, dance, and was a master of physical comedy. Yes, he was a doofus, but some of our best comedians have been unabashed hams. He also did a lot of work for charities throughout his life, including UNICEF. He had a huge number of loyal fans, and was by all accounts a genuinely nice person. Overrated? Hardly. I don't get the creepy comments I've seen, unless people in here have some irrational fear of short people or campy comedy routines.
the only movie better than the Court Jester is Secret Life of Walter Mitty and he didnt even sing in that one (at least not much)! Danny Kaye rocks on!
I could see Jim Carrey doing Danny Kaye-like films. (To all you Danny Kaye lovers, I'm not saying Jim is better than Danny.) But, instead of Jim being in all of the really crappy movies that he has been doing lately, he could follow Danny's example of the types of movies he'd be good in and showcasing his talents with.
Well yes I know, I was just saying maybe a different actor besides the great late Danny Kaye could play the part in the (maybe) remake of The Court Jester in the near future (possible).
Now that Leicester City (nickname, The Foxes) have won the English Football Premier League title against all the odds, they should play this before all their home games at their stadium.
Ever watched an old Tom and Jerry cartoon from the 40ies? Compare it with the 1992 T&J movie, and compare the zeitgeist which defined the cultural nature of these two. Or try the old Batman cartoon and live action TV series from the 60ies and 70ies, and measure them against, say, the current Batman movies or even the DCAU franchise. I don't think that The Court Jester will have such a similarily spirited remake in our days now.
+Karl Duffy Only the sprightliest sprite, the nimblest elf, a wicked old witch or the devil himself can ever outfox the Fox. But generally, you can NEVER outfox the Fox ;-)
Dear god no. Some movies should not ever be remade. You can't remake perfection. That would be like remaking the godfather or Citizen Kane. It just should not be done.
Man, depictions of thuggery of today have too few midgets and too many shorties. I'd pit The Fox against Tupac any day. Dude, just look at that cape, Tupac didn't even wear a freakin' shirt! You'll never outfox The Fox! True. True.
This latest season of Arrow is awfully strange.
Ha! Ha! "You have failed this city, so I'm going to sing you this ditty."
It was only a matter time due to decline in quality the show has done since season three onwards
One of my favorite movies of all time

i LOVE this movie. favorite movie ever
i love ya so much for this
and i love Danny Kaye, this movie and song
I love the laugh at the beginning. This is an awesome song. My boyfriend likes the line, "I'm Johnny not on the spot."
I have not heard this song in over forty five years. It was on the album Danny Kaye, For Children. My very first record. I am fifty two now.
Excellent movie.
"Man, depictions of thuggery of today have too few midgets and too many shorties."
That mad me laugh a lot.
Thank you for posting this. Awesome!

best Film ever😂😂
This looks like it was imagined as animation, and then someone said, "No, we can do that for real..."
I love this movie :3
I can't stop singing this song. at work on the train even when someone's talking i start singing.
Danny Kaye rocks the Fox!
I've heard another version of this where it starts out "give me a fight to fight a wrong to right you'll never outfox the fox"
@Jabbermouthrulz : It was on BBC Radio 2 when listeners would try to ask questions, and tough ones at that to try and 'Outfox the fox'.
They play the very beginning part on Chris Evan's Show on Radio 2 in the UK (at between 6pm and 7pm) on weekdays as part of a Q & A thing
He's like Batman with a fine singing voice.
They used to play the start of this as an opening to some gameshow on BBC radio years ago. No idea what the show WAS tho...
Jamie Garside Chris Evans radio show
You can never out Foxx the Foxx
Lets make a new country. United Fans of Kaye.
Came from hearing it on spotify lol so good
"Those that try to tangle with my daring do".
1:18 - Locate the ham.
One of my favorite scenes from this great classic! They just don't make comedy like this anymore
I Did Love This When I Was Younger, There's Three of Me and...
There's None Of ME!
Yea! Danny Kaye!! LOL!!
No I'm the Fox! Great flick for all ages. Danny Kaye was a great entertainer.
Easily the best performance by Kaye, may he rest in peace. Makes the best of his performer talents in this movie, especially in this musical scene.
Which is what brought me here.
The Court Jester!!
i want them to re-do this, but well, that way more people will know about it. I always feel sad when people are lost when I ask them "get it?"
yes but who could possibly play Danny Kayes role so well?
4 people had their asses kicked by the Black Fox.
I've Danny Kaye since I was a child, but I can't remember seeing this film, what is it?
My anthem! 😂 😂 😂
I agree! With some re-writing and editing it would make a wonderful stage production!!
@nachoguy5 Oblivion. Hell yes. I loved using the cowl. XD
Just what do you mean by that? I think it would make a great remake.
oh yes
They can't make a remake of this.... Not without Danny Kaye.
Did there always have to be little people in these musical numbers in the fifties?
The man could sing, dance, and was a master of physical comedy. Yes, he was a doofus, but some of our best comedians have been unabashed hams. Oh yeah.
@phantomfan11 I wish I had had teachers like you.

I think Christian Bale should try this in the next Batman movie. (After all, he did "The Newsies"...) XD
Do you think that they'll make a remake of this film in the near future?
No I'm the fox! OuO not that it matters >.>
Yes this movie is the best ever I don't care who says
OH MY DAYS QUALITY!! x
...HOW?!
Can never outfox the fox
Well yes I know, I was just saying maybe a different actor besides the great late Danny Kaye could play the part in the (maybe) remake of The Court Jester in the near future (possible).
I'm suddenly seeing Ezio singing this.... -_-;;
Any one 2019?
Now that Leicester City (nickname, The Foxes) have won the English Football Premier League title against all the odds, they should play this before all their home games at their stadium.
4 people tried to outfox the fox :P

...didn't this use to be on BBC Radio 2? or was it 4?

Hawkins! Get out of my clothes
Wait, I'm still confused. When can you outfox the fox?
Talby C Never. The song is very clear about this.
+Talby Cooper You'll never outfox the fox
+Karl Duffy Only the sprightliest sprite, the nimblest elf, a wicked old witch or the devil himself can ever outfox the Fox. But generally, you can NEVER outfox the Fox ;-)

You're wrong artboy1, he was an underrated doofus.
Well maybe, but don't you wish it will?
4 people couldn't outfox the Fox.
Riverside people?
Dear god no. Some movies should not ever be remade. You can't remake perfection. That would be like remaking the godfather or Citizen Kane. It just should not be done.
W h a t th e fu ck???? ?

Hmm. Swashbuckling. Comedy. Musical.
I know the person this movie was made for.
Man, depictions of thuggery of today have too few midgets and too many shorties. I'd pit The Fox against Tupac any day. Dude, just look at that cape, Tupac didn't even wear a freakin' shirt! You'll never outfox The Fox! True. True.
