For anyone who doesn't know, Gaara only used Shukaku's chakra after the Chidori stab. However, despite the fact that Gaara originally thought it was Shukaku, his father Rasa stated in Naruto chapter 547 pg7 that it was his mother Karura's will that was protecting him not Shukaku. Best arc in both original shippuden tbh Don't get me wrong, pain arc had badass intense vibes and war arc was a thing But here The story itself is better Like shippuden tried to distract the fans using power levels increase,so they would say "oh cool!naruto can do this,naruto can do that!naruto is strong so naruto is cool!" But truth be said,the shunin arc had it all and more, and kishimito just failed to outclass himself
exactly, he failed to keep it as ninja show with some unnatural power, but it became show only about unnatural power in Shippuden, it didn't have that ninja tactical feel like in original Naruto.
I always liked original Naruto because it was about ninjas who happened to have superpowers and everyone in the cast had a role in it. The only guy who brute forced their way through fights was Naruto (only because he was established as a dumbass and his main gimmick was spamming shadow clones due to his chakra reserves), but everyone else had to think how to effectively use their jutsus against their opponents (even Sasuke and Neji, who had broken abilities). Shippuden wasn't bad (especially early on), but it kept going into the DBZ territory with all the powerlevel shit (side characters like Temari/Shikamaru/etc started becoming more and more useless outside few scenes, while Naruto and Sasuke kept becoming the only important characters of the show, like Goku and Vegeta). Boruto's just bad in the sense that the older generation needs to be nerfed for stupid reasons (like Sasuke not having chakra 95% of the time stuff needs to be done) to make space for the current cast, and they don't even fix the "powerlevel" stuff because the ending of Shippuden left a mark on it (which it obviously can't get rid of, since it's a continuation).

Did the show ever explain why in the hell they even let people like Naruto and Gaara participate in stuff like this?
