Thank you for the comprehensive overview of lumbar radiculopathy. It explains it in terms I can understand. Very good video. I am possibly going to need this surgery. Thank you, Teresa
Great info! Have never learned so much in such a short time. 👍👍 Wish I were in Virginia instead of Tennessee. I'm 65 with spinal stenosis and hip impingement, etc etc etc. Pain from both areas--actually almost all areas, but my feet are the worst!! Numbness and feel like strings in them and as if I'm walking on a heat register -- like on metal, not heat. Not burning but constant pain with numbness starting to move up from feet. Had a recent MRI and will hear results when visit pain clinic in couple of weeks. Meds not really helping much but keep me functioning. Understand Dr. McGowan cannot diagnose via message, but hoping someone else may have input. You have my sympathy if in same condition. Again, many thanks to the doctor for the terrific information! Hoping this knowledge benefits me when I get MRI results.
I pray your MRI gave you Answers, I'm no doctor but it definitely sounds like you have a very severe case of neurwhat's a doctor would have to tell you where it's coming from, or what it's coming from blessings to you. Hope you're doing well
I have to confess that when I saw this video is over 40 minutes, I almost skipped it. I am so glad that I didn't. Near or right around the 29 or 30 minute mark, I got my answers. I already know I have radiculopathy, and I have had it for 3 years. In the last few months, things have gotten dramaticly worse. I had an MRI yesterday. However, I had to be taken to the ER the day before, because I couldn't walk, the pain was so bad. After watching your video, it is clear to me and it all makes since that it is my L5. Both L5, and L4 , L4 being the most severe for years until recently , have shown damage. I do wonder why the nerve pain medsa re not working for the L5 issues like it does with the L4 pains. Could it be because the level of damage is too servere? I started out taking 3 pills a day for the nerve pain. Now I am at 6 pills a day and that's for the L4 issues. @orthoVirginia is this common for the meds for L4 aren't effective for L5? Gabapentin is the medication Thank you.
I’m getting an mri soon, but i have calf weakness and partial heel numbness. Most likely from l5s1 nerve compression. so far it’s been a month. been goin to chiropractor to realign the pelvis. no pain so im not sure how serious the problem is. i def don’t want surgery and rather do PT
Very informative video. My symptoms started out with a numb foot primarily in my right big toe, a week later it made its way into my lower back but barely any pain, more of a slight throbbing. I was taking prednisone for a different situation and it took away the numbness and lower back discomfort so I’m assuming swelling/ inflammation was caused probs. I did get an MRI and I do have a herniated disk 2-3mm at L4/L5. Will this heal on its own?
Thomas Welch I have had 2 surgeries on my lumbar L4! L5, S1 Worked for a few years. I am 82 years old Still have intense pain in feet and legs What can be done?
Yes all above with my spinal disease. Scoliosis on left curve, deformed rib cage, mylophty neck, degenerated disc disease and joint disease. Along with leg issues L5 TO S1 JOINT ISSUES.
I have pins/needles, tingling and super sensitive to clothing and burning in left thigh, leg and feet, weakness, tingling in burning and super sensative to clothing, numbnes in toes in th right leg All these symptoms are in the front part of the legs from side of hips I have had L4-S1 surgery and C6-T4 surgery as well.
Thanks for the great video and information. I normally wouldn't look outside my country but I'm curious and feeling a bit desperate. Does Dr.Shane McGowan do consultations for patients out of Canada looking for a second opinion?
I have been told I have Sciatica to day I saw another doctor today he diagnosed me Primary Osteoarthritis of right hip and Lumbar radiculopathy is this different than Sciatica.
I have poly neuropathy n my right foot is numb going for an mri to see what it is I fell 2 time on my butt n I have lower back pain right above the butt any suggestions
I have no back pain but excruciating pain going up leg and feels like someone is stabbing me with a really sharp knife. I haven't given up on working yet but i don't know how much longer i can endure this pain.
the pain in you leg is caused by issues in your back... like a nerve being pinched. Mine started with leg numbness then I got tot he point where i was dragging my leg around. My ortho said I had an issue at the L4-L-5 vertebrae. He performed a foramenotomy to relieve the narrowing of the area where the nerver passes through the spine. Took less than an hour and I had my leg back.
Wow that now I know what's going on and it also causes your legs to be weak. And can't stand on them and get shakey. Her car had ran me over about 8 years ago at a crosswalk when I was on vacation but I got my pelvic area and to my knee so wonder if that would cause the pain now but I go to the doctor tomorrow
Everything went numb on me from below my knees and feet. Came on VERY fast!!. Can diabetes cause this (type 2). I also have a severe curved spine that causes me to lean to the left. If not diabetes could this be spinal stenosis?
Have you had a mri. Scoliosis degenerated disc disease and or joint. I have Scoliosis also,. An I also bear weight on my left too. Numbness, buri g, tingling, sensation. Got to get mri.
My diagnosis is a multilevel decompressive lumbar laminectomy I'm in the process to get a second opinion of which procedure to have done. My question is why in the morning as soon as get up I have such extremes right leg pain burning sensation where I can't hardly walk at all without grabbing on to any object, than after the truckle of getting wash and getting dress, get a cup of coffee and finally sit down for a good period of time, the pain sims to diminish and than after a wile I have very little pain until I sneeze, blow my nose, or cough than some of the pain return. Can any body tell me why. Thankyou
Hello! how are you! i have a question about your topics. what other option except MRI to identify the cause of disability of both legs and they suffered on the wheelchair long time ago? because MRI is very expensive in my country they want to know what cause of her disability? her both legs had numbness and didn't move properly so that this is the reason of her disability and she's on the wheelchair as up now..

Hello! Unfortunately we're not able to give a diagnosis over RUclips.
I'm having constant numbness on my feet what must I do to stop this constant numbness on my feet
Look up the topic "peripheral neuropathy" on RUclips.
Why are my feet feel burning?
Look up on RUclips: Peripheral Neuropathy "
Nerves i think
Try having this on both sides at the same time.
I do
I have all these due to fibromyalgia
