Thanks Mr. Blaukat, just recently switched to braid after using mono for a long time and started having a realization that my hookset may be too hard because I kept losing fish, and the only time I got him was when I jammed the hook in the hard section of the head. This video really soldifies that, especially coming from a pro. Cheers

I've noticed in past seminars that you've mentioned the need for more patient, softer hook sets when it comes to finesse plastics. Not only has this paid off massively during the prespawn, but I've noticed a direct correlation between slower presentations and larger fish. Is this because these larger, older fish are harder to trick? It would make sense if an inexperienced angler has too quick a retrieve and can only trick the dinks. I'm almost at my one year mark of being a fisherman, but these seminars are like Neo downloading Kung Fu in the Matrix. Thank you, Randy.

Your prior hook setting videos enabled me to set the hook on my first fish this year.
My first four fish were pretty large, but I lost 3 of them to a poor hook set.
Finally got the 5th fish.
Randy I love your commentary and hoggin tips ! The best part of fishing for me is the bites and hooksets ! I do instinctively and hard. I just adjust drag line and rod action to compensate !
How do you know that the barb isn't going into the hard part of the fishes mouth on the hookset?
Trout fishermen subscribe to the use of barbless hooks. What is your opinion on using barbless hooks for recreational bass fishing?
A bass would come off almost everytime it jumped with a barbless hook.
