This is a fantastic car! Totally worth the money. Very durable and crawls like a champ! The only this which is worth mention is the tipping point. It rolls over a lot, but i mounted aluminium knuckles and weights, so that helped a lot. Buy it and enjoy it :)
If you are open to suggestions, give the tires a try. However absolutely change the foams and go with a sealed beadlock wheel of your preference. I decided to give the stock kit tires a try for giggles and grins, and was pleasantly surprised with their performance. Are there better tires out there? For sure, but give them a shot first, you may be surprised as I was. Happy trails.
Hey Josh I'm glad you gave the BOM a passing grade and great review by the way . I've had mine for awhile and I'm pretty happy with it .The weak points that you brought up are issues but with some small fixes they are good . There was two of them that ran the recon g6 fix 12 hour recently with no problems and I ran the 6hr with mine with a brushless system on 3s with no breakage issues at all . You should check out the Gmade BOM FB page there is a few good tuning tips from guys on there.
B+ I would have given it. I built mine about 6weeks ago, putting the lower links outboard of where the factory has them helps stability some. The offset front axle is what got me to really look at this truck and then actually throw down the $$ to get it. I agree with you on the lexan in the lower part of the cab “rocker area” really thin. The tires seem to be well liked by many who have really given them a shot. All things considered including the origin of the manufacturer. It’s a neat stout little rig, that I’m not disappointed in . Although I am that guy that tries the odd ball “not necessarily the cheaper rig” but the truck with less of a spotlight. Just as I’m now eye balling the Redcat GEN8 International Harvester Scout II 😁 another good review though , take care !
Glad you reviewed this, I've been very satisfied with mine. The cantilever set up works great with the rear lower links and cantilever struts outboarded one position (not my idea). Once treated with Simple Green the stock tires actually perform surprisingly well, better than any other stocks tires I've left on.
I feel you are biased but I also feel it is rightly so. It's an Axial world and everyone else is just playing catch up. Great review as usual. Thank you for your time.
Harley Designs absolutely correct about mount of transfer case, only 4 screws! My gears were broken in two short rides. And second, to repare transmission you need to unscrew center plate!
Thanks for the excellent run down of the pros and cons. Personally I don't really understand the draw of the cab plus rear cage style rigs. I'm apparently in the minority though as they seem quite popular.
This Gmade is a good looking Rig , with good price And aparience , but the aftermarket partes And the notices about the production problems specially with the plastic quality make me refuse It. Anyway the axle desing is really cool . Nice review.👍
I saw one at the hobby expo here in colorado yesterday. I really didn't like the slop in the rear suspension setup. It just didn't seem built right or it's just that sloppy. I did pick it up and it was very light without electronics in it. It a little weight for crawling would be nice. The truck looked cool as is though. One plus in my book was the driveline angle were straight on. I don't like how alot of trucks have angled drivelines and the torque twist that most of them have. I think I will pick one of these up and work on the rear end to make think more slop free.
RC4X4 it’s worth it, I’m happy with my BOM, it needs some tuning time as most rigs do but it’s a cool little crawler. Outboard those lower links on the cantilever setup, you’ll gain some stability 😉
I hope you get a bad ass paint scheme!!! I love paint work.....I recommend black, red a gunmetal and a light gray in any order of stripping and full coverage
your review of this gmade was more like a Slaughter but you know sometimes honesty comes in many forms always have respected your opinion will see what it's like after you run it maybe your conclusions may change but thanks for your time and review none the less. 😮
I'm interested to see how this does on a sub $100 electronics setup. WP1060/1080 ESC, a generic 27T/35T brushed motor and a low-end Savox servo like the SW0231MG.
That is why I custom mount my cantilever system to the outside of the chassis rails. The force is at the same spot as standard shocks. This looks interesting, but looks like a lot of work for doing custom work.
Those tires are extremely capable in my opinion. The rig looks good, Gmade implemented some nice techs there :) I'm curious about the durability of the rig. The time will tell :)
You nailed it on the cons... I was cussin’ alot while I was putting together the suspension links and rod ends. Also, during the rear cage assembly the plasic had a funky kinda smell to it (I had to wash my hands)... Anyway, Thanks for the great reviewJosh, I always enjoy how you explain the pros and cons of the design. 👍🏽
The first 16 Second Build!!! 😜😂😅😅 At least it's not a GOM... If I were given one, I would appreciate it. Can't buy it.... But I'm super excited over the SCX10 II RAW Builder's Kit that I got for Christmas!! Talk about a perfect starter base for ANYTHING one would want to build!!! Carmine 💥 ⛽
The only thing about this truck I like is the body. Even if it isn’t a licensed Ranger. Possibly the only GMade product I’ll buy unless they make a licensed Ranger body.
Thank you for taking the time to do this review vid extremely helpful and has stopped me from making mistake in buying this truck. Awesome vid tho. Thank you.
Good review, as usual. You didn't mention the reverse direction of the rear driveshaft, but I guess it's common knowledge by now. From my experience, the cantilever suspension negates any reduction of torque twist because it allows the rear end to roll too much under load. My BOM seems to tumble sideways before my SCX10 II trucks do. One cool thing is that the mounting points from the cage to the cab are basically the same pattern as Honcho trucks so you can try something different easily enough. Looking forward to your drive experience and suggestions! Thanks for the video! : )
Then..why nearly all competers comes with this rig in trial compete in korea. They say scxii is great .trx4 is great. Veterra is great. And they are all in home in compete day. Its really sticky in rocks. Try it.
I wpuld assume that in the future some aftermarket company like gcm, integy, or one of those other types of companies, will come out with an aluminum transmission, axle housings, and 3rd member casings. I think that would fix moat of the (possible) driveline issues. I might get one just to just it out and maybe give it to my brother for his first crawler
thanks man, i was looking at this, think i might look at trx sports instead ;} i got a saw back and although i like it, not sure this one looks that much better, just different stuff
@@Kaptinhowdy You know what’s great about this? It’s all his opinion. If you don’t like it then idk what to tell you. This truck isn’t the best thing regardless of who is reviewing it. If he prefers Axial trucks, then cool. It’s his opinion. He doesn’t think everything about a truck sucks if it isn’t an Axial, he just doesn’t like this truck just like 95% of the people that have built a kit before this one.
By the way, the Wild Boar driveshaft males don't work, here. The pattern is the same, but they are loose in the BOM female ends, so don't put too much power in your truck.
Now I have to choose do I get this and build another kit or do I wait and get the Redcat generation 8 Scout with portal axles?? I love rtr vehicles and upgrading and scaling to look totally different from stock... then they become my own but I also like building kits and adding my own touches... tough choices??
if they gonna design BOM ii....portal axle+cantiliver suspension+front mount electronic+anti tork twist gear box+max frontwards front wheel....basically perfect...
Just out of interest what ones would you recommend before the bom? I quite like the look of the raw builders kit scx10ii but all so the normal build kit.
Nope.. A frame, Vanquish check list, and a Supershafty trans build, plus etc..., is the best money spent for the long haul .., build it once , and there are no issues... peace
Junk, flimsy and cheaply built. Drivetrain/driveshafts/drive gear is junk, transmission case is junk, trans gears are junk. truck is honestly not worth it, 90% of truck is really really cheap plastic.
This is a fantastic car! Totally worth the money. Very durable and crawls like a champ!

You are 100% wrong about the tires. I thought they felt cheap at first too but give them a try and you'll be surprised how good they are.
We share a lot of the same thoughts Josh. Looking forward to filming my review.

I've been using the gmade bom for days and I love it
Totter RC it’s not an axial so he’s gonna hate it no matter what
Junfac scx10 driveshafts will work on this truck. You need to remove the ball end and female connection and install into the stock ball end. Fixed!
I feel you are biased but I also feel it is rightly so. It's an Axial world and everyone else is just playing catch up. Great review as usual. Thank you for your time.

I’m guessing you didn’t do a live build be cause of the adult language used during the assembly process.
I'm interested to see how this does on a sub $100 electronics setup. WP1060/1080 ESC, a generic 27T/35T brushed motor and a low-end Savox servo like the SW0231MG.

i have those tyers on my trx4, the mt 1904. and i think they are awesome.

Looks like a cool kit. I'm waiting for the Redcat Gen 8 coming out in December

Oh and in my opinon I think it’s a reverse enginerred SCX-10 ii (i.e. kia when they reverse engineered lexus rx350 back in the day 🤓)
i would like the '79 Ford body on here! seems like the scx10-2 is still the way to go!

For me half through I'm not buying it, thanks for your review appreciate the honesty. 😕Such a cool looking truck
Love their RSD shocks.
thx for the review on this and another great review from you , keep them coming .
I was thinking of doing this build n glad to hear ur thoughts on it, thx for sharing

Alex Hardwick don’t knock it till you drive it yourself. I love this truck as much as my ascender and 10.2.
Well it is a good looking rig & I like the color scheme, but I wouldn't buy because
of the "cons" that you pointed to. Thxs for sharing!

Alpha Male he couldn’t fit it into all the other complaints.
Do not use double-sided tape when mounting the grill. Conforms to the body perfectly. Light application of CA is all that is needed.

Boom Racing will probably be making aftermarket parts since they made parts for the other Gmade rigs
@@SnarkyRC that's what I'm hoping for. I like this rig but it does need alittle help
About time something worth watching Josh 😉😉😜

Love your videos!! I'm just getting back into this hobby!!!
Great job looks like a good truck but the little thing are just too far off
You say that there are other vehicles you'd recommend before this, im curious i supose you mean like any axial product?
ultra rc I thought the same thing. Axial, ohhh I love it nothing is wrong with it they hit a home run! Non axial- everything about it sucks.

You are 10000% wrong about the tires. Granted the foams suck, but with 2 stage foams they perform better than most top dog tires.
Great review . I say no on the truck .Thanks for the awesome video.
Tires and wheels are a throwaway, you say? Almost as though it'd be better if it was cheaper and didn't come with them?
I’ll prob just get the axial scx10 II Cherokee kit 329$ at rpp hobby thanks for the vid👍
My son drives a kia. Told him its a Korean ford. He wasn't amused.
I'm so sorry for you.
Thats basically wat it is lol
KIA=Korean Import Auto
now thats funny.
Thanks for your information thanks for your time:)
Nice video, lots of good editing
Gom good rig once upgraded
And if it has so many things wrong with it, why not make upgrade parts for it?
Nice pinkeye brother 💨💨✌
The proprietary parts truck :P
I'm waiting on the redcat gen 8 scout
cmcclellan80 * I agree, another awesome looking rig!
Interesting review! Like the look on your face when say plastic beadlocks *cough vs10
Just a question. I CANT buy this prebuilt? Like ALL gmade boms... u HAVE to build??
Not that I’m aware of.
What about Vaterra Twin Hammers build kit how is that one
Nice review
Thanks for helping me decide to never buy this kit. Awesome review! Thanks for your hard work
Why did it seem like you was trying to choke down a meal that tastes like crap but you just dont wanna hurt their feelings? LOL Great vid

Awesome man
Drive it like you stolded it!!!..
Damn you build fast😂😂
Axial man to the bone hey...lol Honestly Doesn't look like a great design. How good will parts support be for upgrades? I'll pass 😉
great review... :)
Critical Much?
