  • In this video I'll be going over some of the Pros and Cons on the 3v in my opinion. I may miss a few things in this video such as I HATE how the front bumper has to come off to do Head lights but eh, whatever. Let me know your love and hates down below.

Some guys don't get it, not all of us want to drive as fast as we can to the next red light. I don't take my car to the track, my car is purely for looks and cruising. My 3v sounds so good with H-pipes and shorty headers and muffler delete. I have a 2010 GT and IMO, the last year of the 3v was one of the best versions. It is a rock solid engine; I've had had my car for 11 years not and about to hit 100k, this car has never left me on foot and I've not no issues other than regular maintenance stuff like all cars. I believe over time and once ICE are phased out for electric cars, it will be appreciated again. I drove a 2006 2v Crown Vic police cruiser for work and it took so much punishment and never failed. The transmission went out before the motor did. My advise to owners of the venerable 4.6 is to appreciate the car for what it is; that engine kept the Stang alive while the Camaro and Challenger were dead.

With a manual trans, custom tune and decent exhaust it's a ton of fun on the street and around town. I think far too many people dismiss or approve of cars based on sheer hp specs or 1/4 mile times both of which they may never achieve themselves. Is it fun to drive and looks good? Yes. Then who cares what people think? :D

When you see someone in a heavily modded 3V, you can't help but scream and swerve all over the road and get 2 people in an accident behind you because you never see nice 3V's ever, but when you do, it's amazing

I have an ‘07 GT with 91,000 miles and literally never had a single issue out of the car other than the battery dying on me once which was probably my fault. It’s been as reliable as a car can get so far and it sounds and drives amazingly. Sometimes it’s slowness does get me down because it would be nice to be able to keep up with a lot of these newer cars, but long term i plan to have forged internals and boost in the car, but as of now I’m happy with my slow stang

Man you can keep up with alot of modern cars without really breaking the bank. Idk what your mods are if any but I would do long tube headers full catless exhaust with a high flow catback of your choice 2.5 inch no smaller then do cams and the department of boost lower manifold which allows use of gt500 blowers and source a used m122 blower from a 07-12 gt500 which is plenty for a stock motor 3v you can make 500+ rwhp with this setup on a stock motor pretty reliably with a sound to die for and you can prob do all this for 5 grand if you shop smart. I think that would be a sick setup and once you build the motor you could make alot more power with that same blower with the option to upgrade to much better ones as the gt500 has much better upgrade options for pd style blowers than 3v do. Just my .02

Mine sadly is a 5 speed automatic, but it kinda had to be so my wife can also drive it.The automatic in these cars is not as bad as I thought it would be, it’s definitely better than the previous generation 4 speed auto I will give it that. Anyways I’m not in it for speed & power anyways, never have been. It’s got enough for my wife and I ! I’m in it for the looks,& that V8 sound ! These 05-09 cars have a ton of character and are a big part of the Mustang story !! Since 2005, the top selling Mustang was the 06 look it up. Thanks to the sales numbers the 05-09 cars had, Ford was able to put all that money into bringing the 5.0 back to life so Coyote owners….your welcome.

I've had my 2006 GT since new and had that problem with the battery until I replaced the stereo with an aftermarket head. I just bought a '06 Legend Lime GT that's bone stock. To me it seems rarer and rarer to have unmolested versions of these cars. I know the temptation is great to mod them and chase the horsepower, I saw that with my Saab buddies, however, the beauty of the car with it's amazing sound is all that is needed. I don't street race (anymore) so I find it plenty fast. Being cool and having fun is sometimes better than going fast.

Thank you for the video. My 08 GT manual coupe with Edelbrock supercharger runs about 460 hp; Magnaflow Competition cans sound amazing...deep and just right above 3k. I also added one piece aluminum driveshaft and 3.73 gears and new suspension with 1.5” drop. I love the car, but it’s got one issue that persists: it eats alternators, as in one every year for the 3 years I’ve owned it. Don’t know why but...since I got it for $12,500 with 55k miles and the full supercharger kit already installed, I’ve chosen to just deal with it. There’s no inexpensive way to own a cool car that makes decent power...that much I know. I’m going to upgrade the supercharger to make about another 90 hp but that’s where it ends with this 3v. I think it’s a beautiful car to look at and the sound cannot be beat.

Only upgrades are Eibach lowering springs and Hurst short throw and 18" Cobra wheels with Nitto Gen 2 275/45/18 all the way around and Pypes mufflers. I agree I like the simplicity of the interior. I'm on my second Interstate battery. No warning either just wouldn't crank. Door panels redone by pervious owner but driver side is starting to peel. I put on a JLT CIA with Bama 93 tune. That's all the upgrades I intend on doing. My need to be the fastest car isn't so important to me any longer. It's a blast to drive and reminds me of my 66 Fastback I had in HS. I also had a 93 LX Coupe that had everything under the sun done to it. I'll keep this one until I can no longer drive. Simply put, I love this body style Mustang. I may even have it buried with me when it's time for me to depart this Earth. Oh yeah, the gas fill. I screamed at many a pump thinking it was the pumps fault, not every fill up but it happens. Then I saw a video on it. Turning the pump handle to 45 degrees solves that problem.

I bought my 06 Vert in July of 07 to replace 2 cars that were pretty used up. An 95 BMW 325i and an 89 Supra NA.
I fell in love with the body style from the first time I saw one.. it was only a matter of time.
It was lowered and had a CAI from the stealership. The first owner had Weld racing 20" wheels and it looked pretty good. Here is where the problem starts..
My nephew worked at a speed shop modding these cars and dyno-tuneing them.. I stopped by there one day to throw it on the dyno and tune a few more hp into it.. 310 at that point. They had a 2.6l Kenne Bell on the shelf that would take it (safely) to 450hp. so on it went..
raced it, pushed it on the stock internals, blew a head gasket. took it to a different shop for a complete rebuild.. all the good stuff inside, to handle 600hp..
broke it again being stupid, we thought the other guy checked the antifreeze, nope, cracked the block.
come to find out you can't get a stock new or low miles Romeo block.. we did this build with the iron 4.6 out of an 03 Crown Victoria.
I did most of the work on the long block but had the Short block done by the best builder I could find near me. Had some problems with the KB blower and switched it to an F1A pro charger.
I am making just under 575rwhp 525 rwtq at 13 lbs of boost with the rev limiter set to 6000. Redline on this build is going to be between 72-7500. pump gas we are looking for 650 and when on e85 maybe 750.
I will probably never consider selling it because 1. I still love it ( with all the faults) and 2. I could never get my $$ back out of it.

I ordered a 05 3v when they first came out and I still own it to the day. Her and I have been through alot to say the least lol. I purchased a procharger and was in the process of doing more upgrades when the motor blew on the dyno and it caught fire. Long story short, I ordered a new block with a stroker kit along with forged pistons and crank along with Ford racing heads. I also had a boosta pump installed and had the differential changed to a 3.73 gear. I also eliminated the 2 piece drive shaft and decided I would go the whole 9 yards with the car. I decided to do a complete custom job of the car, that included the interior, motor appearance and the trunk. My only regret is I didn't put a manual in the car so I know you guys will give me grief lol. She still sits in my garage, I admit she only goes to car shows and meets. If you guys are curious about her, search Marks Custom interior in New lenox il and you can see pics of her even though the owner put her in as a 06, she is the black 05. I know she's not the fastest but she sure does sound and look good and I'll never get rid of her.

These cars have a tendency to overcharge the battery and it ruins it and messes up the alternator too. I have an 06 Mustang GT that I have put 4 alternators on and 4 batteries and the car has 95,000 miles (I bought the car brand new). I read that the fix is to run a ground cable from your negative battery terminal to a bolt on the alternator bracket at the top of the alternator. Doing this ensures that the voltage regulator in the alternator is always seeing the correct battery voltage and will not overcharge it. Without this the voltage field gets messed up and the alternator reads less voltage and ends up overcharging the battery. An automotive engineer in a forum with an early S197 said that this ground cable will prevent this issue. I installed mine using a 4 gauge cable. I had bought 55” in length but I did not need nearly that much so I shortened the cable and made it look tidy and zip tied it to the existing wiring harness that runs along the passenger side of the engine. A 24” cable with 3/8” ring terminals on each end will work fine. Have had no issues since doing this 2-3 years ago. My car is only a summer cruiser the last several years driven only on nice Saturdays in nice weather months, no rain. It is meticulously kept and is garage stored always. These cars sound better than the Coyote motor because they have the exact same cylinder firing order as the old 5.0s from the 80s/90s Mustangs. I have heard of lots of people having that door piece issue but both my doors are perfect and never had a problem. Maybe it’s because my car is in a cooler climate and is mostly garage kept.

I remember racing a supercharged 2001 firebird with a 350 and running a12.11 to his 12.25 ( street tires and a high altitude track) the driver came over and was pissed cause i beat him he thought i was like all the rest and stock. move forward nos long gone gutted the car coil-overs and all the handling stuff i race at the local road race track in timed events and won all races in my class this year and am faster than most coyotes powered car that is close to stock this car is fun to drive. about the battery early on the battery would go dead to soon i did not drive it every day i thought it was just mine and because of that i ruined the 5 cd changer because it would try to change when you turned the key on and the battery was low ruined a small plastic gear inside the only reason this car is not at the top of the heap is ford did such a good job of upgrading .not like the challenger that has never really done a total makeover

The two peace drive shaft was to eliminate noise and vibration. My 008 California Special, broke 3 spark plugs and had to by

I had a buddy with a Procharged 3 valve that was 450rwhp on stock internals. He sold it shortly after owning it so who knows how long the internals would’ve lasted but it was a fun car and we put her through hell and she held up.

I appreciate the love and support. The wrap i have on my car is called Rushing Riptide. Amazing color as it shifts from one color to another and YES the 3v is an amazing platform.

In your honest opinion, is it still a better get than a charger or challenger if you know about dodge?

I own a 2008 Audi A4 (was my first purchase). Currently I am debating on getting a 2005 Mustang GT Deluxe, all I want to know is if it’s worth upgrading a automatic engine on these cars?

The actual reason why Ford put a 2 piece driveshaft in is because if you ever get in a head on collision to where the drivetrain shifts backwards it wouldn’t pierce the gas tank

They did a 2 piece driveshaft a Ford engineer told me because on a rear end collision the driveshaft will break in 2 pieces and not puncture the gas tank and go boom 💥

Peeling door panels makes me glad my '06 GT has the deluxe interior. Not as fancy as the premium, but so much easier to maintain.

I did a video on an upgrade to plastic panels. Glad I did.

Nice video. And It seems 3vs get more hate then the v6 stangs, at least in our fb groups.

Ive had 2V, 3V, 4V GT500, Corvettes, etc. BY FAR the best sounding car was the 3V. The 5.0 sounds like hammered horse shit IMHO.
