They need to have a variety of bad factions…like an all droid faction, a couple alien factions, a space pirate faction…like in game of thrones in which there are all sorts of powerful factions
Obi-Wan was in his 20s when he started training Anakin, but that was probably a special occasion. Theoretically Yoda could've been 925 when he said that.
I'm happy they are rebooting. I wasnt feeling Ray at all and didnt care for those movies. I still would like Darth Vadar rising, more Obi Wan stories and more characters from the video games to appear.
Get the best writers out there. Have them write something really awesome, something that could be a bestselling novel trilogy. Focus on developing really interesting, multifaceted characters. Then think about a realistic setting. Exciting but not cartoonish. Something you might find in hard sci-fi. Consult scientists and listen to them. Get rid of Doug Chiang and get a great concept artist like Ralph McQuarrie (well, get as close as you can). Give it an awesome look and feel. THEN start making the movies, so to speak. When they’re a real thing living inside the minds of the creators… Or just have Grogu playing around with frogs and bugs for two hours, idk.
George Lucas has said that he intended for R2D2 and C3P0 to be the consistent characters in all his movies and he has described R2D2 as the narrator of the saga. Lucas called this idea "his ultimate framing device." I hope they find a way to keep them.
@@donaz2371I didn't love 1, 2, and 3 either initially. However, my opinion of the Prequels changed over time after watching the several seasons of the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. The Clone Wars truly fleshed out the Anakin character and the Jedi.
Hey Charlie, just a note that you got Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) mixed up with Steven S. De Knight (Daredevil Season 2) at 7:40. They are different people.
5:22 It was actually his directorial debut. 9:27 The biggest issue with the sequel trilogy was that Lucasfilm didn't plan out the whole story before they started making the movies.
Abram’s had set out a general idea for the trilogy. But when ruin Johnson took over he changed it for his own vision. They then had to do a hard course correct for the final film.
If they’re rebooting they should either start with maybe another naming convention, e.g. SW Disney Episode 1, or have episode 10 happen 100+ years later so people don’t expect them to resume the Skywalker saga
IMO the problem with the people in charge of star wars movies is that they saw what Lucas did, and it's become like a sort of expectation that they NEED to make big movie sagas that span 3 movies rather than do a self contained 1-movie story that is open-ended enough for allow future sequels. At this current point in time I don't have any confidence that any future trilogy they make will succeed. They're on such shaky ground right now that Andor's the only remaining truly-successful thing they achieved. Even with Mando, they dropped the ball at season 3 and kinda ruined it. There's also bit of a harsh reality check that star wars fans need to accept: The best writers the franchise ever had, those that get the most acclaim like Timothy Zahn or Drew Karpyshyn... they were never the ones who worked on stuff like the movie storylines. Even when Star Wars was at its peak, people like Lucas had frankly... pretty cringe writing. That's why Andor was such a shock because for once the audience actually saw what good writing looks like. Compare hayden cristiansen whining about sand, vs stellan skarsgard's banger of a monologue about sacrifice, it's night and day difference.
Andor had niche success but let's not pretend it was a banger as franchise marketability goes. Grogu sold truckloads while Luna continues to rot on shelves. That's where real success is - (insert best Mel Brooks impression) MERCHANDISING!
It's not gonna be fresh if it takes place in a universe where the "sequels" happened. Bring back Luke and make him successful at running his Jedi Academy. That's fresh.
Agatha is mildly entertaining. There's some nice tie ups with Wandavision once you get past the middle. But I don't think they stuck the landing well. Which is typical D+. I give it a "thank goodness it's not another Acolyte". 🤷🏻♂️ Wednesday and Sabrina are far more entertaining as "witches" go.
I'm very surprised they took a step back with the rey movie. I was certain they would just double down on it to stick it to the fans, because that's what they've been doing since they bought the IP
I find it funny that they have so much trouble putting something out when they have different time periods and at least two universes to explore. They could have adapted KOTOR, worked the Yuuzhan Vong in as the new baddies, done their version of the Penguin with Maul. I don't even dislike anything SW. Andor is the only thing I consider S-tier (Rix Road is one of my favorite episodes in all of TV), with Ahsoka, Mando, TCW (particularly S7 and the Siege of Mandalore) and Rebels close behind. Everything else is just fun for me.
I feel Rey should definitely not be the main character at all I feel the 3 core Jedi characters should be Ashoka Ezra and Sabine. Rey could show up possibly? It should be like 2030 when it comes out giving time for smaller movies to come out and shows that would help build up to the new trilogy with 3 years between these 3 movies. Also maybe ask the fans there opinions on who they’d like to come and direct the movies. Back when they made a huge deal about a woman directing a movie I wanted one of the ladies that did the mandalorian episodes like Bryce Dallas Howered.
Thanks for this breakdown. It sounds like Kennedy continues to be the problem at Lucasfilm. I like the idea of planning everything ahead as it really helps other creators down the road, but it’s all based on whether Kennedy gets her hand into it. She has a terrible track record and has really ruined the IP.
1. Overall, good plan. 2. We’ve had male and female protagonists. Make it a genderless alien this time. 3. The Mandalorian may be the most popular series now, but Andor is the best one. After season 2 drops it might be the most popular.
I don’t even think they need that, I think they need to go back George Lucas Star Wars, I liked Rey and Kylo Ren but they were done dirty in the sequels.
It’s what they did. They even reference Revan from “Knights of The Old Republic”, when the smith tells that “Mandalore walked with a Jedi”. The only recent SW thing that gave me a SW vide in the Mandalorian…
Also, until the "sequels" are erased and their events treated like they never happened, Star Wars is dead. I don't even want to see a "clean slate" taking place in the distant future with the "sequel" characters long dead. No, they have to give us a new Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, taking place not too long after RoTJ, and they have to star Luke, Han, and Leia. Any universe in which the events of the "sequels" ever happened is intolerable and cannot be allowed.
The problam here, at least in my own opinion, is that movie studios are trying to use older films that were successful as a blueprint for new movies by slightly altering the formula that was so successful the first time. It's not just with Star Wars, it's even Marvel, DC, and all the major streaming platforms. You take a successful movie and alter the story in a few large large and minor ways, and pray that its successful. I wish I could get in to one of those places and help make things ready but apparently they have no interest in making things better.
I don't care what the haters say... I like Rey. I may not be a fan of the sequel trilogy, but I do like Rey. The Force Awakens was a good film but the trilogy as a whole was a disappointment. That being said, I still think it was better than the prequels. Anyone who disagrees was probably very young when the prequels came out and consider it "their SW" but the original trilogy was "my SW" and I still prefer the sequels to the prequels.
Id personally like a Yuzon Vong saga with new actors for luke, Han Leia etc. I know we won't and i get people feeling burnt out with the skywalker stuff but i think it would be great. That, or the original thrawn trilogy with Luke, Mara Jade etc
They still haven’t figured out that Star Wars is about the Skywalkers. It’s possible for them to make a good movie without the Skywalkers, I am just not sure it will feel like Star Wars. (My humble opinion, lol).
You obviously haven't heard of the old republic and the hundreds of star wars stories outside of the skywalkers. Besides, Disney effectively killed off the Skywalker lineage. Unless they do something like Luke keeping Mara Jade Skywalker a secret. But Disney will probably fumble that too.
@ I know about the old republic and I am well aware of what Disney did. Surely you are not suggesting the Old Republic or any other story is as popular as the Skywalker saga. Just because the stories exist, does not make them viable options for movies or shows. And how did killing off the Skywalkers work for Disney? It didn’t. The things that have worked in the movies and the shows have typically been related to the Skywalkers story even if they don’t have Skywalkers in the show/movie. My point was, if you are rebooting, reboot & do what has worked. The Old Republic is probably not bringing casual Star Wars fans to the theaters. If so, I think we’d be hearing about a big Old Republic movie that is coming out. And the fans automatically reject the new stuff. Keep the franchise alive using the Skywalkers and sprinkle in the other stuff until you find something that is well received. Then MAYBE they can move away from the Skywalkers. Again this is my opinion. (And I replied without even attempting a single insult. It is ok to have different opinions people.)
@marlonwilson5577 Good storytelling is what matters. Good storytelling is what MADE the Skywalker saga popular, made it good, period. Lack of good storytelling killed it in the end. The Old Republic stories are just as good and in some cases better than the Skywalker saga because they add to the lore. You can write a book about why you think Skywalker is better. The point is, it's been done. There are other stories to be told.
@marlonwilson5577 and you don't know me to be insulting me, especially since I didn't insult you, I made a statement. People talk crap on the web all the time, but in real life, aren't built for it. So the ish talking don't phase me... 🤷🏽♂️👌🏽
I'm rooting for them to get it right. All the fan goodwill that was garnered during The Mandalorian and the public love gained with "Baby Yoda" seemed to give the franchise momentum that just whithered away with following Disney+ shows. I mean who wasn't anticipating The Book of Boba Fett ? That turned out to be an eye rolling disappointment and then it seemed to go down the slippery slope. I want to look forward to Star Wars once again.
They trying to turn Star Wars back into more of a Theatrical franchise, with some tv shows, as opposed to a tv-show only franchise. Which is kind of what it turned into post Rise of Skywalker.
I'm good with this as long as we get good SW movies again without reconning any established lore. It would be nice if they got a do over with the sequel trilogy to not miss all of that opportunity, but that would be understandably impossible without Carrie Fisher and with the advanced ages of the surviving cast. I'm glad they are bringing back Anakin as well. I like where they've been going with that story. 😊
IMO, the best story is early on discovery of the force with a Cain and Able type break with the rise of both dark and light force users. With it, they show the mystery and awe in the discovery of the force, as well as the struggle and personal side of it.
Probably the best option available. Especially if they still find ways to sneak Anakin and Ashoka in say as replacements for the mortis beings. Honestly I'd like to see Ray stay completely out. I think that would help benefit the show and help other female characters grow. Bring her back for a part or two in episode 2 of the trilogy if you have to bring her back. But if you're going to reboot and start new do that. Don't start the series off reminding people that they hated previous movies
NOT like Galactica! That was the precursor to the mess that was to occur later on with various other IPs and Rian Manbaby Johnson was a fan of that and was clearly inspired by Ron Moore's gaslighting of Dirk Benedict and the Original Galactica fans;
If they don't improve the storytelling, it won't matter. Give us a good plot, well-fleshed out characters, and quit throwing in social issues for the sake of making statements. If they add to the story or flesh out the characters in a meaningful way, that's one thing, but story comes first.
smartest decison they couldve made is totally correct. The total disapproval of the Acolyte series couldve been a huge catalyst to this whole intiative.

They need to have a variety of bad factions…like an all droid faction, a couple alien factions, a space pirate faction…like in game of thrones in which there are all sorts of powerful factions
Yoda said he'd been _training Jedi_ for 900 years, meaning he is substantially older than that....
Obi-Wan was in his 20s when he started training Anakin, but that was probably a special occasion. Theoretically Yoda could've been 925 when he said that.
Yoda....
@yusef3132 [Stupid autocorrect]; thanks....!
@realbadger lol
Yoda actually said he'd been training Jedi for 800 years, and he mentioned 900 when talking about his age.
I would love to see who was the first Jedi Master and created the first Jedi temple
That's what the dawn of the Jedi movie is for.
@@emergencyawesome Indeed
As long as Kathleen Kennedy has 0 input , we will be fine!!
I'm happy they are rebooting. I wasnt feeling Ray at all and didnt care for those movies. I still would like Darth Vadar rising, more Obi Wan stories and more characters from the video games to appear.
They are not rebooting. He uses that word incorrectly. He explains it will be a new storyline in the future with new characters
This is the way Charlie!
This is the way!
SW has never been science fiction. It’s fantasy
I think everyone has learned to wait and see reviews before seeing another star wars movie in theaters
George Lucas has said that he intended for R2D2 and C3P0 to be the consistent characters in all his movies and he has described R2D2 as the narrator of the saga. Lucas called this idea "his ultimate framing device." I hope they find a way to keep them.
Disney needs a reboot.
Disney needs to be bought by someone like Mel Gibson
Can't wait to see Master Grogu!!!😮
Retcon 7,8 and 9.
Recon them out of existence!!
@@JamesRichardson3rd I feel the same way about 1, 2 and 3. Never liked the treatment they got. Young Anakin was the worst.
ANDOR is the future. The first Star Wars saga that actually felt LIVED IN!
Somehow, Andor returned...
He's dead 😊
I hope Dave gets the mantle completely 😂❤
Don’t need to watch the whole video to know it’s going to be a banger from you. I will now finish watching your video lol
lol, thanks
5:22 It was actually his directorial debut.
9:27 The biggest issue with the sequel trilogy was that Lucasfilm didn't plan out the whole story before they started making the movies.
Abram’s had set out a general idea for the trilogy. But when ruin Johnson took over he changed it for his own vision. They then had to do a hard course correct for the final film.
That intro 🔥
If they’re rebooting they should either start with maybe another naming convention, e.g. SW Disney Episode 1, or have episode 10 happen 100+ years later so people don’t expect them to resume the Skywalker saga
I would love a toned down version of the Yuuzhan Vong.
Great breakdown Charlie
Thanks!
I am so glad for the new approach!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉😅
So hyped for this been waiting for a new fresh trilogy
It's not gonna be fresh if it takes place in a universe where the "sequels" happened. Bring back Luke and make him successful at running his Jedi Academy. That's fresh.
@ they’ve covered luke in the tv series so it’s gonna be a new take no matter the universe
@@MonkeyTini They barely featured him at all, and it's all worthless if he becomes Jake Soywoker.
@ let’s see what they do the announcement was made this week nothings been done yet
Always appreciate your news and analysis Charlie! I also love your neutral stance on Star Wars projects.
This means Simon Kinberg, not Filoni and Favreau, will be the executive producer! Trouble in paradise when Kathy is pushed aside.
I'm all for Kennedy being pushed to the side! So I'll take that win, but I've never been a fan of Kinberg, I think most of his work is pretty hacky 😬
900 years in the Star Wars verse is a lot of time to do stuff. I imagine them using Dyson spheres
The only thing I very interest about is when Dave filoni Thrawn Movie going to come out
Oh Lord, let’s hope they don’t completely destroy it😑
I’m not really into witches and stuff. Is Agatha worth watching?
Agatha is mildly entertaining. There's some nice tie ups with Wandavision once you get past the middle. But I don't think they stuck the landing well. Which is typical D+.
I give it a "thank goodness it's not another Acolyte". 🤷🏻♂️
Wednesday and Sabrina are far more entertaining as "witches" go.
@ This a great breakdown. Thank you 🙏
I'm very surprised they took a step back with the rey movie. I was certain they would just double down on it to stick it to the fans, because that's what they've been doing since they bought the IP
I miss the solo twins....
Well I expected this!
Does that mean Grogu is GenX? 🤣
Thank you Charlie.
You're welcome!
@ 🤩
1. Overall, good plan.
2. We’ve had male and female protagonists. Make it a genderless alien this time.
3. The Mandalorian may be the most popular series now, but Andor is the best one. After season 2 drops it might be the most popular.
Good news, they need to start fresh
I agree
I don’t even think they need that, I think they need to go back George Lucas Star Wars, I liked Rey and Kylo Ren but they were done dirty in the sequels.
It’s what they did. They even reference Revan from “Knights of The Old Republic”, when the smith tells that “Mandalore walked with a Jedi”.
The only recent SW thing that gave me a SW vide in the Mandalorian…
I have no idea what episode 10 or 12 of Star Wars is going be but I’m really excited
Hope we can just enjoy it in peace and not have insane fan fights
Greetings from Perú !
Lindeloff being involved is a kiss of death
Breaking out of the Skywalker timeline is exactly what they needed to do
There better be some kind of extra galactic invasion.
Sounds interesting.
Thanks Charlie👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🌹
No problem!
Love from India 🇮🇳
Thank you!
Waheyyyy 🎉🎉. I’m happy to wait for the best possible quality 🙏🏼💚
I want to see Grogu being more grown up, talking like Yoda!
Hello there Charlie
Hello There
The problam here, at least in my own opinion, is that movie studios are trying to use older films that were successful as a blueprint for new movies by slightly altering the formula that was so successful the first time.
@@marlonwilson5577 usually don’t need insults if you are confident in your argument.
The money bag trilogy is coming back
They trying to turn Star Wars back into more of a Theatrical franchise, with some tv shows, as opposed to a tv-show only franchise. Which is kind of what it turned into post Rise of Skywalker.
@@emergencyawesomeI love your content so much, I can’t believe you responded😭❤️❤️
I wish they would go back in the time line to like Revan and Valcorian
2016: A New Hope
2020: Empire Strikes Back
2024: Return of the Jedi
If you catch my drift.
Yessir 🎉
🗣
Yes! We need a mulligan!
However i would love for Finn to be a jedi still ❤
I'm good with this as long as we get good SW movies again without reconning any established lore.
I’m really excited what the new timeline is going to be for the Star Wars franchise in the near future
That’s not a reboot, it’s just another line. A full reboot like BattleStar Galáctica is the only way to start fresh.
NOT like Galactica! That was the precursor to the mess that was to occur later on with various other IPs and Rian Manbaby Johnson was a fan of that and was clearly inspired by Ron Moore's gaslighting of Dirk Benedict and the Original Galactica fans;
I think it's time they do a saga where they leave their galaxy, and travel to a new galaxy AKA the Milky Way and we see them arriving on Earth
