Luke’s lack of appearance, and his death ruined it. They wanted to reboot with a female while ditching Luke and his dad. The centers of the other movies. Expect the next movie to be more damage control.

KEEP DOING REWRITES! I know it's fan fiction, but it scratches the itch of actually having a good story! The more you do, and other content creators do, maybe, just maybe with your collective reach, we may finally get back to solid story telling.
I wish that the next movie would have a scene where someone wakes Rey or any Star Wars character up from a dream/nightmare, and he/she replies that the whole sequel was just a dream... Therefore it never happened. They can have a fresh start with the sequel.
In an infinity of multiverses surely there are a few where Marvel and Star Wars coexist. Anyway there is nothing in the canon that would prevent Star Wars and the MCU from existing in the same universe@@edwarddemesaify
It’s actually a brilliant concept. The idea of a protagonist having an arc that’s not ‘forced’ or being a ‘Mary Sue’ would be amazing. Just a frustration that we had to see what was wrong before we can understand what’s right

I do not think this pitch quite ties the prequels together all the way to the sequels In order to explain the balance of the force - you have to go super cosmic - you have to have a battle on the spiritual plane like Lucas talked about Ahsoka was around in 2015 She is a good window into the cosmic side of the force, but you can also use Rey. In order to tie it all together- i feel you MUST address the relationship between the midichlorians and the whils You have to show this relationship- and not tell about it The best way to accomplish this is to use reincarnation mythology Very similar to the Avatar of Avatar the Last air bender Where Rey = Anakin as chosen one Different individuals in a series of connected souls Through the Whils and concieved of midichlorians
Ngl I like the idea that George Lucas had for the final trilogy but the one you presented was well done and thought out. It's crazy that I've watched or read so many other ideas just random people came uo with for the last trilogy and 95% of the ideas were way better than what Disney churned out. It all just sucks because we could have had decades of new stories and characters for Star Wars but instead Disney drove the franchise into the ground. Disney was literally handed a money printer with decades of already written a d even storyboarded stories that could have been used for movies or streaming series but instead we got a bunch of unoriginal fan fiction passed off as star Wars canon.
I don’t think the problem with the sequels was that they went the wrong direction. The problem was they failed to go ANY direction. Finn being a former stormtrooper, Luke a broken cynical man, Rey and Kylo swapping stereotypes (a mentally weak villain struggling with the pull to the light side against a seemingly invincible hero), all of that could have been awesome if followed through.
Please do a full rewrite! I love people's takes on the trilogy, especially like yours where it works with the characters you've got but changes things to make more sense/flow better

you know what just came to me? i think it would've been cool if he actually survived the battle of exegol & went on to start a new jedi academy as penance for his actions (& in memory of luke)
I really like the rewrite that Ryan envisions. The sequels need A LOT of help and Ray's background is so confusing. And Ben/Kylo deserved better. And Pow and Finn get pushed to the background as characters after being a huge part of The Force Awakens
What you have put forward is so, so, so much better than what we got. Unfortunately, we needed the sequels to exist to get there. Admittedly, the bar was set extremely low, but this would make a great trilogy, and might even have people actually care about the new characters from the sequels. Fantastic ideas. You and your team should write it up, and make some fan films (or perhaps collaborate with some other RUclipsrs who already make them?). It could even be marketed to Lucasfilm as an “Elseworlds”-type of sequel trilogy. It could be produced on a (Star Wars) TV budget, and would make them a small fortune in the cinemas. Heck, I would even accept it as novels, audio, or comic. I would pay good money to see this, and it would be my “canon” for the entire Skywalker saga. Just because something players out in an alternate universe, doesn’t mean it isn’t real for the inhabitants of that universe… :) Cheers,

Anything is better then sequels and this is good! However only thing missing is the “appropriate fan service” that most movies miss bc the “forced fan service”. For example the original cast should have at least one scene together - it’s like if iron man and captain America didn’t have a scene in endgame…

I really really don't understand how or why Disney thought that having 2 different people write a trilogy would work?? JJ's ideas and Johnson's ideas where completely different!! JJ should've done the trilogy, Johnson should've been given a spin off movie for his ideas. Because of this terrible decision we are left with these 3 movies which are a mess.

I'm not much of a Star Wars fan but I never really got the feeling that Vader or The Force was a thing that in-universe people believed in or cared about. I think the planet destroying space station and the death armies are more recognisable than one leather clad dude with dubious mystical powers.
My favorite part of your treatment, is to explore the gray areas of the force. Rey in the middle representing balance, and a Baylon-like character as the darker reflection of that same gray.
This was a really great concept. I'm actually doing a version of the sequel trilogies Myself, And I really enjoyed the way you had found the concept for the whole trilogy altogether instead of how Disney did it when they just piece movies together without really connecting them and making it scrambled. For mine, I'm going to start in the middle between. Return of the jedi, and the force awakens and set up everything for my trilogy before making the triolgy is there. Until then, I enjoyed what you put out there. And I really hope you guys put more of this into the future. Because the concept was really really cool

Most "alternate universe" stories, I find kind of interesting as a fun way to play "What if" that doesn't take away from the established canon story. This one, though, just makes me hate the sequels even more for being so bad, that we missed our chance to have a much better story be canon.
I was thinking it would have been cool to find out that Kylo Renn was the actual clone of Palpetine and him killing Snoke in the second movie was to finally take his place as the Superior clone. So when Rey asks him why did he kill Hans?? Kylo Ren would sit on the throne and say "He was not my Father". We find out Luke, Leiah and Hans took Kylo as a baby to raise him to be good and named him Ben but Kylo finds out and now is out for blood. He took his revenge on Luke first and strands him on Ahch To with no memory. Luke doesn't remember his past but eventually trains Rey to be something different and more balanced instead of a Jedi. Making him the Last Jedi. Then the third movie would have been completely different.
Maaaaaan please make this a thing… Lordy, Disney needs to reboot the sequel trilogy with something like this as it’s premise. Let Filoni and Favrot at it. Someone important send this to Bob!!!!
The Rise Of Skywalker could have fixed the issues of the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi but they screwed the pooch as soon as "Somehow Palpatine returned" 🤦🏾♂️🤣
these are some great concepts that would for sure have to be fine tuned based on current information this new trilogy each movie would be about 4 hours long. But this is miles better than what we got with not star wars like sequels.

I want this... Please write the damn thing. Like now, do you need anything, like paper, pens? I do want some romance though, more than just Han and Leia. Maybe, we could have Rey and Ben as a romantic relationship this way, and not have people threaten others with their deaths because they like the possibility. Adam and Daisy had such amazing chemistry. I really think that could work. Such excellent work with Canon and Legends. This would have crushed. Love this!!
This sounds incredibly promising! If you do end up going more in depth on this, it'd be epic if you commissioned some official--looking concept art to go alongside the standard edited scenes schtick
Interesting ideas. My Episode 7 takes the basic structure of Force Awakens but tweaks some of the ideas a bit. First of all, Luke duels Ben Solo but hesitates because he believes there's still good in his nephew. Ben then wounds Luke so that he is like his father--more machine now than man. Trade Maz Kanata for Lando Calrissian. Oh, and Snoke was apprentice to Darth Plagueis before Palpatine.
This would have been epic to see. It brings in everyone, new and old, and it actually adds to the confidence of the overall arcs. It really is a shame there wasn't a consistent visionary driving the sequels.
This video is the prime example of why it's important to have your own ideas if you're going to criticize something, i see people doing 5 hour essays and naming problems here, problems there but never using their creativity to prove that they can do better. Well done Ryan.
I really like this! The story feels very star wars, you expand on pre-established lore and ideas, there are some fun twists like people being afraid of force users, which really makes sense, the redesigns are amazing... Yeah, this is great
That was pretty cool. The Idea of bringing the legacy of the prequels and originals makes sense since it builds from them. The backround add up to each character, Ben and Fin their family and Rey having no one to follow or drift away. I am actually quite inspired and exited if you decide to move foward. A book or Audio would be great. Well, 3 books.

And I liked the original characters (Rey, Finn, Poe and Ben), so seeing them in the right form and shape and involved in an intriguing and well thought-out story is amazing. Thanks!!
I think that's Dave is attempting with the shows. He even introduced an aspect that could cause the sequels to be retconned. Ray Stevenson dying may have put that plan on hold unfortunately. He was the best original character they've had in quite a while.
For Ben Skywalker to have the last name Skywalker, Han could mention that he doesn't have a real last name. Solo is just a nickname that stuck so Leia suggests "How about Ben Organa Skywalker"
On paper the idea the sequels had weren’t that bad. Luke training palpatines granddaughter to ultimately defeat palpatine himself isn’t a bad idea. Rey should of been revealed to be palps granddaughter when she was in the darkside cave in last Jedi. Palpatine should of just been an evil force ghost to stubborn to die corrupting Ben solo
I think it would be really interesting to have the resistance fracture into different factions once they have created the New Republic. We already saw how they all had different ideas on how to conduct the rebellion, so it makes sense they would govern differently too. You can explore how people who were once united for a cause break apart because of differences of opinion, fight and then reconcile. The Jedi would also have a similar plot of trying to figure out what to do or how to rebuild after the latest destruction of the Sith. You could have Jedi that survived Order 66 want to rebuild the way it was vs Jedi or force users that want something different. Maybe the force users can figure it out by exploring the Whills and being educated by Force ghost Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and then get the Republic factions back together.
I remember drafting up of sequel rewrites. The easiest version ended up mirroring the prequels instead of the originals: First Order behaving like the Separatist Crisis and the New Republic was alive with a new Jedi Order. George Lucas seemed to lean toward that way of doing the sequels while JJ Abrams wanted Ep 7 to be so anti-prequel that the lifecycle of the New Repubic and its senate was moved to backstory (TV shows, video games and novels). Another version I had was close to Nartuo Shippuden's finale (Infinite Tsukuyomi except with the Force + extra-galactic invaders). For sequel rewrite inspirations from mecha anime, look at: Code Geass sequel film, Universal Century Gundam, and Gundam 00
I am a huge fan of ScreenCrush, the way you guys do analysis and stuff... I want to love this video and your idea of how the trilogy should have been, but just watching the images of the last 3 movies gave me so much pain that I was blinded, I could not appreciate what you guys are bringing to the table. That is how much damage these last 3 movies caused me as a Star Wars fan.
JJ abrams could have given us the original Luke, Leia and Han all together on screen at the same time. Instead we got 30 seconds of Luke and Leia and Han lightyears apart. With Carrie fishers passing we will never have that chance ever again

The Rise Of Skywalker could have fixed the issues of the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi but they screwed the pooch as soon as "Somehow Palpatine returned" 🤦🏾♂️🤣

I think they had to figure out a way to deal with the problems created by the Last Jedi and that was never going to be an easy workaround.

these are some great concepts that would for sure have to be fine tuned based on current information this new trilogy each movie would be about 4 hours long. But this is miles better than what we got with not star wars like sequels.

I want this... Please write the damn thing. Like now, do you need anything, like paper, pens? I do want some romance though, more than just Han and Leia. Maybe, we could have Rey and Ben as a romantic relationship this way, and not have people threaten others with their deaths because they like the possibility. Adam and Daisy had such amazing chemistry. I really think that could work.

Having Luke's New Jedi Order in the movies is something we should have gotten, along with more of the New Republic.
Interesting ideas. My Episode 7 takes the basic structure of Force Awakens but tweaks some of the ideas a bit. First of all, Luke duels Ben Solo but hesitates because he believes there's still good in his nephew. Ben then wounds Luke so that he is like his father--more machine now than man. Trade Maz Kanata for Lando Calrissian. Oh, and Snoke was apprentice to Darth Plagueis before Palpatine.
This would have been epic to see. It brings in everyone, new and old, and it actually adds to the confidence of the overall arcs. It really is a shame there wasn't a consistent visionary driving the sequels.

I really like this! The story feels very star wars, you expand on pre-established lore and ideas, there are some fun twists like people being afraid of force users, which really makes sense, the redesigns are amazing... Yeah, this is great

That was pretty cool. The Idea of bringing the legacy of the prequels and originals makes sense since it builds from them. The backround add up to each character, Ben and Fin their family and Rey having no one to follow or drift away. I am actually quite inspired and exited if you decide to move foward. A book or Audio would be great. Well, 3 books.

I think that's Dave is attempting with the shows. He even introduced an aspect that could cause the sequels to be retconned. Ray Stevenson dying may have put that plan on hold unfortunately. He was the best original character they've had in quite a while.

For Ben Skywalker to have the last name Skywalker, Han could mention that he doesn't have a real last name. Solo is just a nickname that stuck so Leia suggests "How about Ben Organa Skywalker"
On paper the idea the sequels had weren’t that bad. Luke training palpatines granddaughter to ultimately defeat palpatine himself isn’t a bad idea. Rey should of been revealed to be palps granddaughter when she was in the darkside cave in last Jedi. Palpatine should of just been an evil force ghost to stubborn to die corrupting Ben solo

I think it would be really interesting to have the resistance fracture into different factions once they have created the New Republic. We already saw how they all had different ideas on how to conduct the rebellion, so it makes sense they would govern differently too. You can explore how people who were once united for a cause break apart because of differences of opinion, fight and then reconcile. The Jedi would also have a similar plot of trying to figure out what to do or how to rebuild after the latest destruction of the Sith. You could have Jedi that survived Order 66 want to rebuild the way it was vs Jedi or force users that want something different. Maybe the force users can figure it out by exploring the Whills and being educated by Force ghost Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and then get the Republic factions back together.
I really like the idea of a "wild west" of force users.

I remember drafting up of sequel rewrites. The easiest version ended up mirroring the prequels instead of the originals: First Order behaving like the Separatist Crisis and the New Republic was alive with a new Jedi Order. George Lucas seemed to lean toward that way of doing the sequels while JJ Abrams wanted Ep 7 to be so anti-prequel that the lifecycle of the New Repubic and its senate was moved to backstory (TV shows, video games and novels).
Another version I had was close to Nartuo Shippuden's finale (Infinite Tsukuyomi except with the Force + extra-galactic invaders).

I am a huge fan of ScreenCrush, the way you guys do analysis and stuff... I want to love this video and your idea of how the trilogy should have been, but just watching the images of the last 3 movies gave me so much pain that I was blinded, I could not appreciate what you guys are bringing to the table. That is how much damage these last 3 movies caused me as a Star Wars fan.

JJ abrams could have given us the original Luke, Leia and Han all together on screen at the same time. Instead we got 30 seconds of Luke and Leia and Han lightyears apart. With Carrie fishers passing we will never have that chance ever again
