      Trouble Double “Original Gangster”. But it does not necessarily mean the person you speak of ‘Is’ or ‘Was’ a gangster. In certain contexts it just means a person that is middle aged or older that had done great things.

    Everyone thought Moss was a misguided misfit who was going to be more trouble than he was worth. His early years in the league a lot of us pegged him as immature, maybe even unintelligent. It's so pleasing to see what Moss has become and for him to show how intelligent he really is and the fact that he's genuinely a great guy and always has been.

      He had no choice. Those guys at 17 and 18 yrs old are very advanced athletically. Randy was good at the local and state level. I saw Hershel Walker his freshmen year run track at the Drake Relays. He was in a heat with thee fastest sprinters in the back in 1981. I said before the race he will last til 60 yds aftwards he will be eating dust. He's 6 2 240lbs. The gun sounded off and at 60 yds the entire stadium erupted because nobody ever saw a person that big run neck n neck to the finish line. EVERYONE LEANED AT THE FINISH LINE.

    Dont feel bad Randy. I attended Five Star Basketball Camp summer 1979. I'm a football guy. 4.4 in the forty. Kenny Jackson from South River, NJ and Penn State's All American football player had gotten a rebound. Im standing beside him. He takes off with the ball on a fast break with the ball. I take off after him and he's pulling away from me. Im sprinting as fast as i can. I never experienced that playing ball in the the Metro Detroit area. He was extremely quick to go with his speed.

    There's this guy in my old neighborhood who told the story of how he was on a Lakers roster in the summer or preseason in the early 80s, and they were playing against the Trailblazers squad with Drexler as a rookie.
    Dude says on one play Drexler started at the top of the key and went so aggressively fast and high for the defensive rebound that his calves and shins were above eye level. He says Drexler then went coast to coast off what seemed to be 3 dribbles and dunked from what seemed to be from the free throw line and nonchalantly trotted back on defense.
    Psychology the guy says he was drained and intimidated after what he had witnessed. Dude's family would tell us that he called his father and said he was coming home because the NBA wasn't for him.

      @J Jackson every sport has a demension of greatness that's incomprehensible.
      I've been to a few NFL games and the speed of those guys in person is mind-blowing.
      At a baseball game once they had this speed radar in the concession area where you could see how fast you can throw a baseball and most guys were throwing 20s and 30s...I may have seen a few 40s. It just made me appreciate how strong and accurate those MLB pitchers' arms are (70s I think is considered a slow ball) and also those sluggers who can hit those lasers. And to see how far those bases are apart in person is a whole different discussion (as a kid I would often wonder why they didn't steal bases as often but no I get it).

    I had the great fortune of playing against Randy and White Chocolate (J. Williams). My junior year they were ranked 4th and we were 6th. My coach tells me in practice b4 our matchup that ‘I got Randy, but be careful, I hear he’s athletic’...1st play of the game J Will is at the top of the key, Randy is on the free throw line and we’re in man, with me on Randy. Jason starts winking in our direction...I’m like “what the”...next thing I know Randy spins off of me and banana cuts/rolls to the basket. I know what’s coming and so I make a beeline straight to the rim thinking “this dude ain’t about to dunk on me 1st play of the gm”...I jump, see the ball, and not being a bad athlete myself, have a little of my forearm over the rim about to grab the ball..Randy comes into the scene, grabs the ball out of my hands and attempts to two hand slam...I pulled both his arms down to prevent the dunk...his triceps were above the freaking rim...ridiculous athlete he was

    Moss can jump think its more so the size and length of the other players that discouraged him. He was on the tall side on NFL for receivers then u got KG he makes Moss look like a average height guy lol

    • @apeters38
      @apeters38 4 года назад

      Moss is I think 6’4” so for a SG that’s average height most SG’s are between 6’4”-6’7”. Vince Carter was 6’6”. I think Moss if he really wanted to and put all of his effort into basketball could have been a really good basketball player. His jumping ability would make him an explosive dunker. What would make Moss a good NBA player would be how well he could handle the ball, shoot and play some defense.

      @@apeters38 Point being. Why be an average sized shooting guard where dudes are going to have 3 to 4 inches on u when u can have size and speed advantages over all the corners in the NFL. Id say he made the right choice. Basketball also more wear and tear on the bottom playing all those games in the year it is very hard to stay healthy apart from just all the things u gotta do to have better skill set as player.

    One of the rare times a basketball player was scared into playing football and not vice versa

  • @bpdmf2798
    @bpdmf2798 6 лет назад +4

    I loved watching him on the football field, but I wonder what kind of career he would have. He is undersized for a forward so he would need the ball handling skills of a guard. His flat speed is his greatest asset in football, but in basketball you rely on lateral quickness as much if not more than outright speed, unless it's on the fast beak. His hands are amazing so you know he would get steals, but are his hands so good when he's dribbling it himself? Man, I wonder.

    • @cycleoflife565
      @cycleoflife565 5 лет назад

      Moss not only has speed though. He has quickness to create that initial separation. In football I also loved how he was able to vary his speed and then just accelerate, making the defense look as if its running in sand and Moss is running on a moving sidewalk at an airport.

    • @soaky4

      Charlie Ward Jr. was NICE. His Heisman-winning year he really brought that fast-paced, "snap it when I lift my leg" offense to the fore.
      A.I. had multiple decisions to make. If he were to choose football, would he be a quarterback (some in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia say he was better than Michael Vick), or would he be a free safety (he had SEVEN interceptions in one game).

    • @MontyFranklyn

      crazy thing is both Randy Moss and Allen Iverson wanted to go to Notre Dame. Randy Moss had off the field issues and never sent his transcript and I think Iverson moved on even before his his off the field incident because ND told him they wanted him to be football only. As ND fan still makes me sick to think about how ND could have had AI at QB and Moss at WR on the same team.
