People who never saw him play will never know how talented Zeke was with the ball. He was the Iverson before Iverson, but with a sense of leadership that only few in the game's history have had. He was amazing.

If you really think KG's a bad host then you're simply not listening. Fans of basketball and fans of KG understand that he's one of the most real guys. His style is his style and most of what he says gives good insight on his game and other players' game, past and present.
The thing KG needs work on are the transitions from the TNT crew to Area 21. Kinda hard having to deal with the time delay when you're trying to talk trash with Charles Barkley. If Area 21 were its own show on NBA TV I'm sure most of the complaints we have about the show would go away. Its just th transitions that make things super awkward.
You know KG loves ball still and if he could he would play. Dude hasn't put the ball down all season. He probably can't do interviews without holding the ball.
Tayshaun does not get enough credit for being as good as he was. These Pistons teams had bigger names. Rasheed, Chauncey and Rip were stars. And Ben won all the defensive player of the year awards. But Tayshaun is one of the very best perimeter defenders ever.
Lockdown defender and would give ya 14-16pts. Crucial part of that team. The block he had on Reggie is still one of the biggest defensive moments in conference final history
Love how they got into the mindset of an elite professional ball player. This is why they were great. Probably before the talent the mindset has to be right.
Actually interesting, this one. Tayshaun seems like a genuinely good person, and Isiah always humble and intelligent and spot-on with his speech. Garnett ought to surround himself with such types.
@bojo perez Had Melo been drafted by Detroit, he would've entered a franchise with championship credibility with most of the key players still close to the organization (including Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Rick Mahorn, James Edwards, John Salley, Dennis Rodman, and his GM Joe Dumars... Dave Bing, Greg Kelser, and Bob Lanier were still around as well) to help mentor him. This is in addition to the veteran teammates and coaching he'd have In his rookie contract, Melo would've been competing with Corliss Williamson the first year as the main player off of the bench, which would've made him even a better player. In Melo's 2nd year, Corliss went to the 76ers and this would've left the 6th man spot to Melo. As that season unfolded, he and Tayshunn would've been interchangeable and competing for the starter position, as they had different talents to offer...this also would've motivated Tayshunn to become even better. With the understanding that the veteran players would soon be older, the franchise would've been his (possibly alongside an even better version of Tayshunn whose personality would've allowed Melo to be the alpha). The love he would've had from the fans and city would've been intoxicating and he would've signed an extension. Denver had nothing close to the foundation the Pistons had... matter of fact, Melo was given the keys to the franchise and had to learn on his own, straight out of Syracuse as a wide-eyed teenager.
As much as I would have loved to have been born earlier to watch the 80's and 90's, I love the fact that in the present day there are so many knowledgeable former players to give perspectives from different angles. I prefer listening to players talk about the as opposed to writers who can even dribble.
This is the golden era for the NBA. The next wave of players are going to be unbelievable. Imagine kids with the athletic ability of a lebron but can shoot it like steph or trae young. Gonna see some crazy ballers over the next 15 20 years

Isiah - Dave Bing - Grant Hill - Joe Dumars - Bill Laimbeer - Dennis Rodman - Ben Wallace - Chauncey Billups - Bob Lanier - Rip Hamilton - George Yardley... I guess you could put Prince in the top 10 due to tenure... But I know that franchise is still kicking itself over not drafting Melo...
Isaiah Joe D John Salley Dennis Rodman Vinnie Johnson Bob Lanier Grant Hill Chauncey Rip Ben Wallace Bill Laimbeer Dave Bing Dave DeBusschere Stackhouse Andre Drummond Kelly Tripuka Adrian Dantley Cliff Robinson Lindsey Hunter Mark Aguirre That's not even counting some of the much, much older Pistons like Yardley. Also not counting Pistons who meant more even in shorter times like Rasheed Wallace, or others. He was a great defender for 5-6 years but after that he declined heavily. It's fine if we disagree but for me he only makes the top 10 if you say they had to play w the origination for 10+ years.
+Mohsin Kamal nahhhh.. KG is a loud mouth but that doesn't make him hood. Great player, but the immature nonsense he has projected on and off court isn't a sign of toughness, but rather weakness.

Isiah Thomas was being diplomatic about who was the No. 1 point guard of his era. Isiah Thomas surpassed Magic Johnson by no later than 1986. Magic has five championships, three MVPs and three Finals MVPs, due to him playing on teams that were stacked with hall of famers and all-stars. Magic came to the Lakers who already had a prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, etc. The next few seasons the Lakers added James Worthy [No. 1 overall pick in 1982], Bob McAdoo, Byron Scott [No. 4 overall pick 1983], Michael Cooper, etc. Isiah was drafted No. 2 overall pick in 1982 draft by the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons posted a combined 37-127 record the previous two seasons. Isiah Thomas led the an under-the-barrel Pistons to three finals appearances and consecutive NBA championships. Furthermore, Isiah regular outperformed Magic when they were opponents on the court. Isiah Thomas was the No.1 of his era. He knows it and Magic knows it.
