      Fairly good at following instructions, but watching it made me more confident to get going.

    I started with mangrove jack them 2 - 3 times when I was a beginner It is a good brewing project for those who want to start small
    Now I brew completely from scratch and follow both Norbrygg and beer time and make my beer from the very beginning.
    I want to say thank you very much for the mangrove jack that made me learn in the beginning, Very nice to learn in the beginning.
    Very good project for those who are not quite sure at the start of the brewing project.

    For me, these are the best kits on the market at the moment, providing you use the 1.2kg malt extra enhancer for another 5 quid or so. The juicy session IPA from Mangrove Jacks is nothing short of exceptional.

    No mention of how or when you use the enhancer. Also, the dry hops wasn't explained at all. The beginning was good but sort of fizzled out at the end.

    I did two mangrove Jack's brews, ipa and lager, both times my OG was way low. Ipa og was 1.030 and the lager I added an extra 500g of dextrose and still only got 1.042 og. Both using 1.2kg of mangroves liquid malt extract.

    I thought you had to take an OG reading BEFORE the yeast goes in?? You did your hyrdo reading after. Will this make a difference?

    Hi you don't mention anything about finings - when would they be used if at all?

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  Год назад +1

      With kits, there isn't the option to add any kettle finings as you don't boil. You could add something like gelatine before packaging of if it's going into a keg than you can add it at that stage.

      We’ve all been there! A stalled fermentation can be really frustrating! I’d suggest giving the bucket a gentle swirl, not too much but enough to move the sediment around. Also check the temperature your room is at, if it’s too cold then the beer won’t ferment. For Ales you need to be a steady 18-20c. If after doing these things you don’t see any movement then perhaps another pack of yeast is required. Good luck 🤞🏻

      Yes, it prevents dirt, bacteria and oxygen from coming into contact with your beer.

    Thanks for the video. My question is do you need to add carb drops or sugar before bottling?

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  2 года назад +1

      Yes, if you want it carbonated then refermenting in the bottle is essential. My advise is half a teaspoon of sugar per 500ml bottle.

      I am no expert, but wouldn't the brewing process kill anything harmful? In the middle ages beer was drunk instead of water because it was considered safe to drink even if the water used was not safe to drink. history.howstuffworks.com/medieval-people-drink-beer-water.htm#:~:text=The%2015th%20century%20bishop%20of,from%20tenants%20on%20his%20lands.&text=Water%20in%20the%20Middle%20Ages,hydrate%20by%20way%20of%20beer.

    This is a rip off. None of the sellers mention you need to purchase additional sugars. I did not see additions in your video. It should be included even if the cost is higher. Poor business practice.
