I started with mangrove jack them 2 - 3 times when I was a beginner It is a good brewing project for those who want to start small Now I brew completely from scratch and follow both Norbrygg and beer time and make my beer from the very beginning. I want to say thank you very much for the mangrove jack that made me learn in the beginning, Very nice to learn in the beginning. Very good project for those who are not quite sure at the start of the brewing project.
For me, these are the best kits on the market at the moment, providing you use the 1.2kg malt extra enhancer for another 5 quid or so. The juicy session IPA from Mangrove Jacks is nothing short of exceptional.
I did two mangrove Jack's brews, ipa and lager, both times my OG was way low. Ipa og was 1.030 and the lager I added an extra 500g of dextrose and still only got 1.042 og. Both using 1.2kg of mangroves liquid malt extract.
With kits, there isn't the option to add any kettle finings as you don't boil. You could add something like gelatine before packaging of if it's going into a keg than you can add it at that stage.
Hi Thanks for that I am a complete novice but I have the MG pilsner kit on the go at the.moment -day5 fingers crossed my first attempt your video helped a lot thank you. I may be back with more silly questions later!
oh fooooook, how am I going to get the LME into my small neck glass carboy? I guess mix it with the boiled water in a smaller pour-able vessel first then pour in.
We’ve all been there! A stalled fermentation can be really frustrating! I’d suggest giving the bucket a gentle swirl, not too much but enough to move the sediment around. Also check the temperature your room is at, if it’s too cold then the beer won’t ferment. For Ales you need to be a steady 18-20c. If after doing these things you don’t see any movement then perhaps another pack of yeast is required. Good luck 🤞🏻
What happens if you leave it for more then 7 days ? ie what would happen if i leave it for 14 days or longer? im only asking cause mine says 5 - 7 days and ill be away for 14 days .is this a big no no ? thanks
I am no expert, but wouldn't the brewing process kill anything harmful? In the middle ages beer was drunk instead of water because it was considered safe to drink even if the water used was not safe to drink. history.howstuffworks.com/medieval-people-drink-beer-water.htm#:~:text=The%2015th%20century%20bishop%20of,from%20tenants%20on%20his%20lands.&text=Water%20in%20the%20Middle%20Ages,hydrate%20by%20way%20of%20beer.
This is a rip off. None of the sellers mention you need to purchase additional sugars. I did not see additions in your video. It should be included even if the cost is higher. Poor business practice.

id have thought you would put thermometer on before pouring so you can adjust if to hot of cold
Well explained except for the ending. Please make a part 2.
I'd also like to see a part 2.
Fairly good at following instructions, but watching it made me more confident to get going.

What total volume did you end up with after you mixed in the water?
@@themaltmiller8438 23 litres both times, think it was 3 litres of boiling water then topped up to 23l with cold water
No mention of how or when you use the enhancer. Also, the dry hops wasn't explained at all. The beginning was good but sort of fizzled out at the end.
Hi you don't mention anything about finings - when would they be used if at all?
With kits, there isn't the option to add any kettle finings as you don't boil. You could add something like gelatine before packaging of if it's going into a keg than you can add it at that stage.

I thought you had to take an OG reading BEFORE the yeast goes in?? You did your hyrdo reading after. Will this make a difference?
If you take it immediately then no its not a problem. 👍🏻
Is the airlock necesairy if i dont use this exact bucket too ferment, what does it exactly do ?
Yes, it prevents dirt, bacteria and oxygen from coming into contact with your beer.
If you just close the lid it will pop off due to the pressure from the CO2 build up… 🫠
My OG is to high, 1024, after 11 days. I read that mabye I have to shake the jug, and the yeast will work better? Don't know what to do right now...

Thanks for the video. My question is do you need to add carb drops or sugar before bottling?
Yes, if you want it carbonated then refermenting in the bottle is essential. My advise is half a teaspoon of sugar per 500ml bottle.
@@themaltmiller8438 I just placed an order on your website and instead of sugar I ordered the carb drops.
@@convid1984 They will be perfect. Easier to use.
@@themaltmiller8438 Thanks
@@themaltmiller8438 How much carb drops should I put in a 500ml bottle? Thanks.
Why is it the hydrometer doesn’t like to stay still for reading? They always want to turn away!
🤣

14 Days will be fine as long as everything is sealed nicely and there is enough liquid in the bubbler mate. Good luck!
Please help! I found a bag of these with BBE date 9/2018. Can I still use it and not die?

or you can invert your own with 1 bag of table sugar and a drop of lemon juice.
It was mentioned right at the start, enhancer or a kg of brewing sugar (dextrose)
