This was the first song my husband and I danced to on our first date. We been married 32 yrs today, and on every anniversary we dance to this song. And yes, there is still a old flame burning between us.
Thanks for this golden classic. Polished many'a belt buckle with this one on the dance floor 'til I finally found my forever dance partner. 29 years & still goin'. Love you Deb W. That's either four accidental dislike clicks up there or four tasteless knuckleheads. Long live Alabama ! !
They truly don’t make them like this anymore. I was 12 when this was recorded, they were making hits every week it seemed like, so glad I witnessed this magical era. Life and music was so much more innocent then, can’t take these memories away. God bless Alabama.
My first concert ever was at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky in around 1982-1983 to see Alabama. I went with my Mom, Dad and brother. My mom always loved ol' Randy Owen, lol. I grew up on Alabama, Kenny Rogers, and the Oak Ridge Boys etc. I’m very thankful I was introduced to real music at an early age. Thanks Mom and Dad... and Alabama.
I played this song on the Juke Box many times 25 years ago at my neighborhood bar. Drinkng beer on the weekends, shooting pool, hanging out with my friends, and listening to Alabama on the Juke Box.
THE most influential country western group of all time. They were the first to fuse old country and new country and they made it a success. All the modern country groups owe a big debt to Alabama. They were the ones who paved the way. Just so talented as songwriters and performers.
My favorite Country Band of All Time!!! Nothing any better I have been listening to them since I was in my 20's use to stand in lines after lines to purchase tickets for their shows!!!! Brings back lots of memories good & bad. But the good always outweighed the bad!!! And guys I've still got the original Albums & get this 8 track tapes!!!!
This came out when I was in middle school. My school library had the album on 33. I would check it out once a week and listen to most of the album. Amazing now we have it all on our phone to play whenever we want.
It's funny that it wasn't until about 10 years ago that I started paying attention to this song after seeing Alabama in concert in 2001 after listening to every other song by them for years prior to that.
Their was a frat (fraternity) at SWT ( Southwest Texas State U.) that booked these guys a couple months before this song and this band hit gold. Alabama kept their word and played at a very small venue in San Marcos, TX. Tells you a lot about their character.
Heard this the other day on the radio and was surprised that I remembered all the words. Takes me back to dancing at the Diamond Ball Room, OKC in the early 80's.
@gloriafiona3 What I see is Randy Owen having fun, interacting with the audience, and being a good performer. In other words, he's doing his job and doing it very well.
Awesome band 50 years n going strong been hooked on them since they came out going to see them at Fort Madison Iowa rodeo in September Alabama dreamer roll on❤
One of my favorite slow dance songs ! Great harmonies as usual. Used to polish a lot of belt buckles to this one back in the '80s at Graham's & Spurs in OKC & Ken Lance Arena in Ada, OK where Pake McEntire used to play!! Long live Alabama, Pake & Reba !
This is so true .... it happened to me. It doesn't work to run into an old love for whom you are stilling carring a torch when with you are in the company of your new love because it can show all over your face and it seems "The heart don't lie" takes over.
Yep. Saw them in April of 1982. Mountain Music Tour. They stayed until everyone got an autograph. I have a tour shirt with all of their signatures on it. Randys hands were so cramped from playing he had difficulty writing. He said that's just part of entertainin' folks. Hardly a buffoon.
When a womens intuition is working well, this songs just adds to the answers she needs. I would like to take a poll. Who thinks that keeping old flames on your friends list is a good idea, when your married to someone else?
To my best Friend for almost all my adult life well over 35 years only thing in life he ever did was Love Me, Totally I was so blessed to call him friend and I pray he is resting high on that Mountain and I see him when I get there. RIP Len...love Nancy
Love this song and remember when they were first starting out and playing in Myrtle Beach.. As far you gloriafiona3 do you identify with buffoons?? Also in a later post you stated "None of their songs are difficult to sing". Are you a proffessional songstress?? Do you have any videos on youtube so we can compare??
Love these vintage live Alabama performances when the Boys handled all of the instrumental parts of the songs ... before they brought in background musicians. Watch Jeff in this video ... he did everything but drive the Band's bus.
trying to figure out what country step would put u that close to a woman on this song...not the two step or double two step or shuffle two step. lol Love this song whatever it was u were doing. lol
@gloriafiona3 I don't see how he is acting like a buffoon. He is incredibly talented, has a great voice, and is handsome to boot. It's his song, and he's having fun singing it.
This is real country music 2024 December 3rd

This came out when I was in middle school. My school library had the album on 33. I would check it out once a week and listen to most of the album. Amazing now we have it all on our phone to play whenever we want.
This song and Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys got me hooked on Country Music.
This song is still great!!!
Listen to the drums: it's an early example of "rockin' country".
love the hair and beards in those late 70's and early 80's. yes and the music.
it's amazing how good they sound live, they're the best country artists during that era and George Strait he's up there at the big dog table as well!!
I love them all, especially multi talented Jeff Cook.
This is what I grew up listening
to when I was a kid.

1981 was the year the members became millionaires. It was good the money had no affect on who they are and how they played.
Knocked this live performance out of the park.
