In 1982 on the Mountain Music tour I met drummer Mark Herndon during a break of the band playing softball 🥎 against the local radio station DJ’s. I was a beginning drummer and asked him how to play the fast part on Mountain Music. He showed me with his hands on his legs explaining it was a paradiddle-diddle between the kick and snare 🥁. He said to learn it slowly listening to Ride the Train from the Feels So Right album. I’ll never forget how kind he was to a young drummer and a total stranger! I’ll always love the Alabama band!
I have a wonderful memory, I was little my Aunt was a super fan she didn’t have children but she got each of us nieces and nephews a fabulous black sateen June Jam jacket for Christmas I was probably 6-7. I wish I still had it ❤
This is my heart talking to you, I remember those eyes, you have always remained close in my heart, no matter how far you are. Love works like magic , when two hearts unite...I feel truly blessed to have met you, the truth locked away. I write a little as well, Love' it's written on my...Heart! Glenices niece Debbie
I heard Rascal Flatts read cut this song with Alabama with backup vocals. No way does Rascal Flatts even come close to the original. Nobody can sing this song like Randy on in the group Alabama.. Rascal Flatts sing the song three steps higher and it sounded okay but nothing like the original Randy Owens was the best.. I was listen to Randy Owens the group Alabama on a talk interview and they brought Rascal Flatts up singing Old Flame and they were very humble. It's like they say nothing but good about the new artists out there that's redoing their songs. And even Rascal Flatts took best group of the year one time and brought Alabama off the stage and lot of people took that as an insult to Alabama which Randy Owens made it clear that they never got offended by it not one bit cuz they took it 10 times in a row for a decade. And the group Alabama Randy said it was an honor for Rascal Flatts bringing them up to the stage when I took first place that year. Randy ons and the group Alabama are very humble guys and they like to joke around. There's not a group today that is good as they are and where.
My first concert was Alabama in Lexington, Ky at Rupp Arena back in 1983, I was 7 years old, I just read your comment and it made me think of my own experience with Alabama. Like you said, I still remember it to this day and I’m 42 now.
Nice. My first concert was Alabama at the Russell County fair in 81 or 82. I was in kindergarten but missed school that next day. They had become successful but still had commitments to play, which is how we lucked out seeing them.
We went see them in New Orleans early 2019. Go see them. Randy sings better than he does on his albums imo. They were amazing. We brought my parents. It was their first concert. They loved it.
Oh, man, does this video bring back memories! The Minnesota State Fair, mentioned in the song "The Fan" and all of us fans waving our cigarette lighters and singing along! Will *never* forget those many concerts we Minnesotans were so lucky to be part of. Earlier this month, we did it again at this year's State Fair, we waved cellphones rather than cigarette lighters (thank God!) but had just as much fun. Thanks for all the fantastic memories, Alabama! You're the ones who keep *our* light burning!
That's awesome! They've never forgotten where they came from, and the kindness they were taught. There will never be another, not even close. Hope to go see them myself at my state fair this year, here in South Carolina.
I love you jesus amen

I completely agree. Randy actually sounds better live and that’s hard to come by in music but you’re exactly right

It's hard to decide, all of them are good.
