I'm not an US citizen, I'm from Chile. While I was visiting a beloved Aunt in Santiago back in '92 I saw a beautiful-covered tape, put in an old cassette player, and starten to listen my all time favorite country song "Country Roads", and after a couple of songs ... Dixieland Delight for the first time. From that moment, I fell immediate in love with the song, and when the Internet arrived to Chile for all public in '94, I started to look more information about this song, and it's accurate translation, but Internet was young, poor made websites, and it was almost non-existant. After meeting an old 18-Wheeler driver from Texas ten years later in 2004, NAM Veteran (a friend of my father), I brought the topic to the table, and I finally come to realize the importance of this song to Alabama people. And today, just before knowing about the Russian invasion, searching in RUclips about this wonderful song I realize how moving and powerful is "Dixieland Delight" to Alabama people, and the rest of US . Nowadays, It's like a National Anthem , and it's played in important Sports Events, and even in Ceremonies. I'm not a rich person, but I hope someday I coud visit the US, and sing that beautiful song in a Big Alabama Stadium!
This concert was recorded October 10, 1998, at the Las Vegas Hilton, concurrently with the release of their 2 CD compilation "For the Record: 41 #1 Hits".

My middle daughter, Randi, was a tiny baby. Jeff Cook scooped her up from my wife and carried her around showing everyone a baby girl named Randi. All three eventually carried her around for a while signing autographs and visiting. They all signed her diaper before giving her back. Three great guys.

Sounds like you and the Mrs. Had a Great Time. I can tell you this performance took place in Vegas. It was in Support of the "40 Greatest Hits" tour. Vegas Audiences tend to be a Bit more Conservative. Also the Audience was made Aware the performance was being Taped. Pretty Apparent with the Number of Cameras and Camera Men.

Alabama is hands down the greatest band in country music and one of the greatest artists in country music history. Do you know if you can find the video of them performing “Deep River Woman” with Lionel Richie on the 1986 CMA awards show? Or just the whole awards show in general? Thanks.
I Have not searched for that performance. I would expect that the whole awards show would be posted. There are several Video hosting sites that you might want to check. UpLoad Society, Metacafe, Internet Archive, Etc. There are a Dozen or more of these Video Hosting Sites. Some of them are European in origin. Google, Bing, & Yahoo are not the only search engines out there either. I have done what I thought were exhaustive searches for specific things. Just about the time I am ready to give up I find what I am looking for. Good Luck.

I was fortunate to meet Jeff Cook early one morning after their concert in Fargo ND, and a few cups of coffee it was like talking to an old friend. We talked fishing pretty much the entire time…Rest Easy Jeff “Fish On”!!!!
@@stevek4285 Thanks for Sharing your story Steve. The Boys have always been just normal down to Earth people. Talented, Blessed, Modest and Humble.
Used to "Clog" dance to this! Man wasa such a great song to dance to!
Got to see them in Cincinnati a couple times! Were so so wonderful, a real good time!
Thanks for your comment Rhonda. I have seen them 3X. One of those performances was in Honor of Richard Petty. All of them were Great, and I had a Good Time Everytime.
Love U Alabama ❤️❤️❤️
Randy Owen & Teddy Gentry Love Their Fans. They will read your Comment. They Appreciate you.
Alabama Forever!!!!
My wife a I took a cruise out of New Orleans last spring. The dualing piano club played this song every night they were open. People jumped up and danced all over. It was awesome. I can’t believe the people in the audience for this song were sitting!!
This is the kind of music I grew up on! People had their instrument in the trunk of the car, came by, had a big Music Fest on the front porch! My Mom played guitar, her brother the banjo! I grew up with music!
Thanks for commenting Rhonda. I grew up on this as kind of music as well. I have seen Alabama in Concert 3 Times and they were Fantastic. I am fortunate to have a number of Musicians that are close Friends. We have Music Fests in a Barn here on the Property where I live.
The greatest band for real country ever!!!
Listening until the end of time!💯
Alabama is hands down the greatest band in country music and one of the greatest artists in country music history.
Good Luck.
I remember being in 3rd grade in a predominately black school (I'm Latina) .. twice a week we would have PE in the school cafeteria and our PE teacher would play this all the time. I knew then I loved country music!
Thank you so much for this comment Delores. The fact that you are Latina and that you appreciate this Music is a True testament that this Music was made for ALL OF US.
Buena, mi amiga! Bienvenidos de la musica campa!
Love this song gives me so much pride in the southern way of life.
@@cc8295 It does the same for me.
@@cc8295 You and me Both CC.
Splendid music Southern bread Northern fed. Put multitasking at all but kicking the sander on a bonfire it's my forefathers in me because I looked down at my feet once upon a Time in late 70 and said what am I doing and what am I up to and I was doing a little hop here and a lot of hot air and I swear to goodness it was my forefathers mothers alive and me at that moment ♥️
Listening to these guys in the 80-90’s ya just knew you were hearing something special! You knew as they were singing that this group would become legendary.🎸
Amen John. I have seen them 3 Times in Concert. The 3rd show I was Invited Back Stage. I closely Resemble Teddy Gentry. In any case they were All very nice Guys. They Allow me to continue to Present this Video. I can't thank them Enough for the Privilege. Thanks for watching John.
@@CAPTJACKRACKHAMZGM
Wow! Sadly I never made it to a concert but I sure do love their music!
I’m watching to see if they ever make it back to Minneapolis. 👍
@@johnsorensen3831 Randy Owen & Teddy Gentry are All that Remain. Jeff Cook passed away. Drummer Mark Herndon Left the Band. I am not sure that Jeff Cook is Replaceable. I am not certain that Randy and Teddy will be Touring any more. I hate to paint such a Dark Picture.
Jeff Cook, el mejor de la banda sin duda. Que pena su fallecimiento. R. I. P.
Best band ever 2024 I’m still jamming
Hello there sir yes there the best. The new ones just wish they was that good.....

Great country drummer ...great vocals.
Sure reminds me of the simpler days. Sure makes this old timer style, something that’s lost in todays world
Wow my songs of old love love love the band too
Thanks for watching Joyce. I Have quite a Few good Live performances Featured on my channel. I Invite you to Watch them All. Just go to my channel and search Rackham's JUKEBOX.
Hypothetical question if you could either have Alabama or Lynyrd Skynyrd, in their prime, play for your birthday party? Who would you choose?
The Alabama CD I have...my favorite song is "Old Flame"
Good Choice Lori. I always Liked Carolina Mountain Dew. All Alabama songs are Good.
Just enjoying Jeff's amazing talents tonight
LOTS OF FUN IN FORT PAYNE 🎉 GRAND OLE OPRAY (Randy / M & P )
Thanks for watching and commenting Blaine. Geography is not my best subject. Where is "Kimball"?

Was in kimball for 3 months this song came on every night was amazing
This is now a classic as a true country gets.
They do not come any better than ALABAMA with MARK on drums
This guy gets it!!
Exactly! Bring him back now! Especially since Jeff is gone now!
I wish I grew up in this time...
Well Sam....I Have Given Your Statement some thought. I can Tell you that it was a Great Time. I have Seen Alabama 3 Times. They were this Good Consistently.. When you see episodes of "That 70'S Show". That Was Exactly how we were. Old Timers have the phrase...."Those were the good old days." And yes they were. As the Decades have passed by for me I have said it as well. Fear Not....your generation will have it's own marks of Accomplishment. You too will Look back some day just like most Old Timers you will repeat that familiar phrase. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It was so much fun!
Classic country right here 🤠
Damn, they sound good live, they will be in fort worth in october, very seriosly thinking about going
You won't be Disappointed.
Great songs and a great band.😊 Rest in peace Jeff.

OverviewLyricsListenOther recordingsArtistsVideosComposers
Rollin' down the backwoods
Tennessee by-way
One arm on the wheel
Holdin' my lover
With the other
A sweet, soft, southern thrill
Worked hard all week
Got a little jingle
On a Tennessee Saturday night
Couldn't feel better
I'm together
With my Dixieland Delight
Spend my dollar
Parked in a holler
'Neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her up tight
Make a little lovin
A little turtle dovin' on a Mason-Dixon night
Fits my life
Oh so right
My Dixieland Delight
White-tail buck deer
Munchin' on clover
Red-tail hawk
Sittin' on a limb
A chubby old groundhog
Croakin' bullfrog
Free as the feelin' in the wind
Home grown country girl
Gonna give me a whirl
On a Tennessee Saturday night
Lucky as a seven
Livin' in heaven
With my Dixieland Delight
Spend my dollar
Parked in a holler
'Neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her up tight
Make a little lovin'
A little turtle dovin' on a Mason-Dixon night
Fits my life
Oh so right
My Dixieland Delight
Spend my dollar
Parked in a holler
'Neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her up tight
Make a little lovin'
A little turtle dovin' on a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life
Oh so right

RIP Jeff Cook 1949-2022
I discovered in the 80s when I was in Virginia. Nice video but where is Mark Herndon ?
He Left the Band at Some point Prior to the Release of 41. In Reality he was a Rock & Roll Drummer. Not Sure But I suspect that he was a Session/Studio Drummer Prior to Joining Alabama. Probably Contracted by RCA. Why he Left, I am not Sure unless he Fulfilled his Contact, and no Longer wished to Remain. I have never Looked into it, but I am Sure that the Story is Out there Somewhere. Thanks for watching.
Hi Jack.
Thanks a lot for the explanation. Regards, Jean-Luc@@CAPTJACKRACKHAMZGM

Great song ❤love you Alabama ❤🎉😂
They used to come to Savannah ga. every year or so...82 , 83 ,84. I couldn't imagine it now..
Indeed They Did Flicewatter (Love the Name by the Way). Back in the 80's they were Young Hungry Musicians. They Were Also were Professionally Promoted. Both on the Country Music Radio Stations, and on the Road. I've Seen Them 3 times in Atlanta, and Have Met Them Back Stage once. They were Genuinely Nice Guys. They Allow me To Present this Video. Can't Thank them Enough for That.
Ever since the Tennesee Alabama game last year this song came to mind after Tennesee scored the field goal and we beat Alabama
It's up there. Rhythm of the ancient mariner, simple man, holy wars and master of puppets
Such good music.
Indeed it is. These Musicians set a Standard that I Doubt will Ever Be Matched. Thanks for Watching and for your + Comment.
