You try running your country and race after a genocide and loosing your home while also visiting a separate reality to be with your husband who's been locked in another state of being off and on for the last 10,023 years. while also fighting off world ending catastrophes for 18 years almost back to back.
She is also aware that death is not the end and most importantly it doesnt matter. Whenever Blizz wants characters will return JUST BECAUSE
@@Prorok1994 death DOES matter for characters. It doesn't for players because we know how Blizzard works, but in their "real life" things aren't that way, there is no Blizzard. Obviously she knows they will eventually be reunited, but it could take millenia since she's an elf (even though no more immortal)

For anyone wondering, this isn't actually the end of Malfurion. They're basing this off Persephone from Greek mythology. Ysera's bound to the WQ so she will have to return to her eventually, Malfurion just taking her place until then. Gives him room to learn more since he's only seen the Life side of the cycle.
Blizz also stated something like that.

TBH this actually the most touching cinematic they have done. Most of the time its just more driven plot. This will not make huge impact story wise(Malurion staying) but shows why Ysera is back on Azeroth.

It's very beautiful to see well done non-action cutscenes, especially with the new detailed engine. Although I do miss Malfurion's potential like we saw in the Battle for Darkshore when he went bear form and buried an orc alive. Wish we could've seen more, but maybe this opens the spot for Illidaddy to return, now that he's best friends with Sargeras.

Is Malfurion that side NPC that takes naps between expansions? Or the angry Druid that goes bear form and wrecks a caravan.
I mean they abonded him looooong ago after warcraft 3. As NE in general. From independant ancient race who defend their forests against aliance and the hord and had mighty world druid Malphurion - they become a minor faction of aliance with totally useless Malphurion.

Seeing Malfurion go bear form and bury an orc alive and telling the Troll to tell Sylvanas he's cuming was the best part of BFA. So much potential to see the NIght Elves being aggressive and powerful for once, truly a force to be reckoned with. Still waiting on a cinematic where the Night Elves summon a March of Treants to start demolishing everything, LOTR style.
The Kaldorei and the Draenei have to be my two favourite races! Their lore gives a deep sense that they've suffered so much, coming from huge, golden age backgrounds.

Malfurion is the most powerful mortal in this fantasy, the name Shan'do literally means "honored teacher" and is used by every race on Azeroth for him, he's respected by everyone. I hope they write him back into the world one day because this isn't the move.
They had to write him out of the world like this because the man can't be killed any other way.

The dude literally started at the beginning of wow as missing and remained that way most of the expansions. Powerful af and important to the lore but non existent in the game.

And allways it boils down to the actions of the Horde. When will they disband them once and for all.
You that as if the Forsaken didnt pay the ultimate price to our lore.. We do suffer with the Night Elf mains though, its horrifric the things blizzard done to us both.

Here's what happened, Xavius was a corrupt night elf and mad horny for his queen, he was killed by malfurion and raised by the legion as a saytr.
He ended up corrupting Ysera and the heroes of azeroth (which includes the alliance) killed her.
The heroes of azeroth (which included the horde) helped to raise Ysera in ardenweald, and gave the opportunity for Malfurion to sacrifice himself to restore her to the living world.
So what's the horde got to do with this story 🤔
It's strange, seeing how slowly the characters are disappearing like Queen Azshara, Illidan, Malfurion, Yrel, Denathrius, Velen, Sylvanas, N'zoth, and also Anduin. I'm starting to feel that later on in Sargeras' expansion everyone is hanging out.

Disappearing? Most of them are at peace for what has happened and no longer desire to be at war. Azshara has fled to her kingdom. N'zoth is dead. Denathrius has taken another shape or whatever

Damn, devs did Malfurion dirty. They never showed him caring for his people, he always was a punching bag for bad guys and he wasn't able to show his powers as the Shan'Do. Now Bliz put him out of the way completely. I was already upset with his participation in shadowlands(he didn't search for Tyrande. At all), but this conclusion to his story just crushes me.
the problem with Malfurion is that he is supposed to be so strong that most of the time if he was really fighting he would be soloing near everyone so they always have to make him kinda dirty or found a reason to make him out of the way and this time it's for ever(?)

Have these cinematics about malfurion and ysera released in game yet? or is this from PTR? i am a night elf and i havent got any special questline like the blood elves did for scourge invasion or lordaeron cleansing quest

So, the seed was created by both Elune's tears and the Winter Queen, right? Does it somehow contain all the souls of the Night Elves who died at Teldrassil? The ones we freed from the Maw?
And I'm assuming that they'll eventually use that seed to create a new world tree on Azeroth for all of the Night Elves again? And I guess we're just hiding it in the Emerald Dream for safe keeping? (Even though the Dream seems to get corrupted every other week.)

Same. There is only 2 times I have cried when playing Wow (and no, one of reasons was not Shadowlands lol) when Vol'jin died and then when Ysera died. I still can't watch animations of those events, I always have to skip. Darn you Ardenweald to made me watch Ysera's fate again.
And Ysera's new model is so lit! If it stays same it is in these cutscenes, I have not played DF yet. I need to get some of my character to check Hyjal if it has been updated to old world as well. I love new gnoll models what have replaced old models in Cata zones.

I'm not watching the video because I don't want to spoil it ahead of time... But I have to know, how do you unlock this scene? 10.1.7 is nearly here and I haven't found it yet.
Malfurion is a character so powerful that if he goes all out the expansions would end as soon as they begin. They have to sideline him for the sake of content. Makes you wonder why they wrote him so strong to begin with.
Because when they wrote him warcraft the mmorpg wasn’t even thought of

@@Joe-bs6hd damn it, this really is the trend nowadays and there's no two-ways about it... the worst part tho? Is that these narrative shenanigans hurt the female characters as well. I mean... Tyrande was always a great leader (sort of an acting-queen for the Night Elves throughout the warcraft games and most of WoW) and we know she is really powerful and ancient (over 10k years old, same as Malfurion and Illidan) but no, that's not enough... so they ditch Malfurion in a really lame way which makes her THE ONLY central figure for the Kaldorei... because, new-age writing... "she is the best and the strongest of the Night Elves, because there is no other Night Elf characters left, to dispute her rank". And we, as spectators feel that Blizz basically thinks, that she can't be badass unless her male equal goes away... which is actually quite misogynistic and untrue... but we all know at this point that "gender equality" is not really about being equal...
At least Illidan got a dignified and fitting story-finale... this feels really... sudden and pointless...

Now the horde is a communists nation with a clutch of leaders instead of one, also even green orcs new leader is a woman,even base trolls is a woman after they killed vol'jin. We got a male goblin leader gallywax,Ji firepaw(for panda but he has been mia) then you have bane for normal taurens and one eye from blood elves which i got the feeling he going to be replace so he can be a stay at home dad while his nightborne wife leads.

I’ve been a night elf fan ever since I got into Warcraft when I was in elementary school and all I want is for Malfurion and Tyrande to have a happily ever after. Also with the new blessed world tree wouldn’t that make the night elves immortal again? We got a sort of hint at reuniting the elven tribes at blizzcon this year iirc, so who knows what’s gonna happen in the future.

Why does Ysera return? Her death-scene with her as a constellation was perfect and touching. Such cheap writing destroys everything. And Malfurion-Tyrande don't look like a couple, but like the old 70+ father and his 40+ daughter.

Thats the big problem of long ongoing stories. You can make heart-tpuching moments and then... Destroy it by upcoming events.
When Ysera died, there were no plans to return her in near future 100%. And now with Dragonflight its required.
It could go smoothly if they have well written plot on paper at the beggining to work with to make transition between Ysera death and return more smoothly. (like when in plot you should kill a character, but there are obvious space for him to return reader could expect. For exmp - I dont know, Harry Potter?)
But Wow now more like marvel with billions alternative worlds and billions of different character you should put in and out of the plot to keep situations more fresh.
Thats why Ysera's death looks cool only in the moment, but with time become meaningless and grey.

It contains all the souls of the night elves that burned in Teldrassil. It will be used to grow a new tree. It shows the creation of the seed in the last part of the video.

Mal was captured in legion and Ysera was there to try save him,if he wasn't captured she would not die, if I remember right.

Malfurion and Tyrande just enjoy sleeping in the very literal sense, but the latter never gets too.
Malfurion himself admits that the Night Elves NEED Tyrande as their leader, cause he knows he simply hasn't been there for them for most of the last 10,000 yrs, he just spent so much of his time in the Emerald Dream and not with their people.
I am so happy they brought Ysera back...literally the worst day when we had to help slay her because of that bastard Xavius. I burn that lockout every week to kick his ass.
I finally realize why l like gw2 story and wow story now. I don't have to click through dialog like reading a book in ffxiv.
I just feel meh to this, for one, Ysera never sacrificed herself in Malfurions stead. This feels forced, and that actions have no consequences and doesn't matter.

In Shadowlands they said she *could* leave at some point, but only if there was a sacrifice of equal power to balance it. Malfurion was that balance because as he says, he was supposed to die in Val'sarah, not Ysera. Malfurion will stay back in Aardenweld to watch over the souls of the Night Elves on their rebirth, while Tyrande watches over the surviving Night Elves. Ysera's debt to the Winter Queen is repaid with Malfurion's sacrifice.

My heart died... only wow can make me cry like this. Been playing since I was 11 years old, been playing about 17 years. I love this game and ALL of its characters. ALL OF THE LORE even Shadowlands itself. I am probably one of many few who is a true fan of wow no matter the choices that they make. LOVE IT FOREVER!

Honest question - why are they making up a lie about Ysera dying in place of Malfurion during the events of Legion?
I have to admit I'm confused at the entire existence of an expansion around the flights arriving a whopping 12yrs AFTER all the aspects gave up their biggest defining traits under the assumption they were no longer needed. It sounds like Dragonflight intends to retcon more story the way Shadowlands did for WC3 and Wrath. Or am I misunderstanding?
"retcon" is kinda hard. WC came out in 2002. most all the lore is from 1 2 and 3. Wow is 18yrs old. They ran out of lore, they gotta make more or just shut it down. Ian said they were trying to get back to the basics and everyone loves dragons so that's why.
