    It's one thing to make some beginner blunders. This was like a reverse chess puzzle where you try to find the worst moves.

  • @YetAnotherScrub
    @YetAnotherScrub 11 месяцев назад +14

    The explanation of 90% of these moves is very simple: The players just don't analyse the whole position. Most 500 players look for a move they think is okay, and just play that move without considering other options. When checking if a move is "okay", they often just look to see if their opponent can capture the piece they moved. If they didn't see a good move or a threat the first time, they won't even look for it on subsequent moves until something brings their attention back to that idea. To be fair, analysing all the available moves is pretty difficult and even much higher rated players will often miss key ideas for the same reason. It's just most common at this lower ELO.
    Also I suspect that black genuinely thought the white pawn on h4 guarded the knight on g3 (as if it moved like a black pawn). Probably just forgot that white has the opposite perspective so their pawns guard the other way.

    I'm SO glad the move @4:31 was played because in THAT position I see it played almost 95% of the time if not more around the 800-970 range and I been wanting to see it covered. Because in most of the videos where Levy shows this position in rated games over 1k its like NO ONE plays it lol. And I be like I've hardly never played a game where the knight doesn't fork the queen and rook.

    Imagine how demoralizing it would be if a doctor or mechanic ridiculed you for not understanding the basics of their respective fields. In the world of chess, where learning and improvement should be encouraged, it is disheartening to see a player with a strong rating choose to undermine the confidence and enjoyment of those who are still in the early stages of their chess journey.
