I'm not sure if I've lied about watching a show, reading a book, or playing a game when I haven't, but when I was a kid I lied about liking or not liking a show, book, or game if I was trying to make friends..
I actually bought the original game SEVEN TIMES. First the PC version when it came out (in a DVD case), then the GameCube version for my then-gf's little brother, later the PS2 version for my next gf who had a PS2 but only Singstar games (bought her Silent Hill 2 as well), then the US version in a big box (because I'm a collector of classic boxed games), then the Steam version for my gf and me and lately, I also got the GOG release.
There's a second one on the way and I still love Rayman. Shut the hell up bitch Mizzah Tee. You are just upset Rayman is unbeatable unless I help you
I never played this game and much like the vegetables I refused to eat as a kid, I'd regret missing out and thus be unprepared for the future we live in. Great stuff and good to hear your voice, as well! All is well with the RUclipss.
I played this in 2003 or 2004 and that's not a lie. And yes, I agree, the camera sucks, but everything else is pretty great. Aged pretty well, actually.
I played it in 2004 but back than I was 7 years old so I didnt care about the camera I just really enjoyed the game, in my opinion the best game there is
Have the controls been updated? I hated the controls on the PS2 but still wanted to play the game. It just got announced for PS+ so I'm about to find out.
+Grumpy Catterman This might be coming a bit too late but the controls are exactly the same as on the ps2. Also you can't invert the X and Y axis independently which is a problem for people like me who are used to Y being inverted. Here it's either both of them are inverted or non of them is. It's really annoying.
That's lame. They need to stop doing "HD rereleases" that don't fix big issues like this. I never minded the PS2 era graphics but I just couldn't bring myself to keep playing due to the sub par controls. I hear about how great this game is but can it really be great when it can't get basic control schemes right? At least I got it for "free".
Grumpy Catterman I know what you mean. When I bought it I played through the intro just to see what the remake's like and the controls really put me off. It's a super basic thing which could've easily been patched but they just didn't care. Still, I'd try to give it a chance if I were you. I almost completed it on the ps2 before I got distracted with something else. It has a lot of good in it. You may also consider the pc version. It's on GOG and they have it on sale right now, I believe.
This game is just amazing. Pey'j is awesome oh and Home Sweet Home is a wonderful track, also love the little track when you collect an orb. I love this game ;)
I bought this game on gamecube a while back because I really wanted to play it. But as soon as I started up the game I found out the game was in Dutch and there was no way to change it, even though I'm from the Netherlands myself I can't stand Dutch movies etc, especially when they were originally in another language, if the thing was made in Dutch from the start I can still watch it. So I ended up never playing more than 5 minutes of the game because I hated that I had to play it in Dutch. I hate it when games don't give you a choice in language because I would never choose dutch myself. Might pick this version up if this one will allow me to play in English, otherwise I will sadly have to miss out on this game.
utcgangstaa As I am dutch as well, I can say that this game does indeed run in English if your system language is in English (at least on PS3). Enjoy the game, it´s great. And you were pretty unlucky with your choice of console because to my knowledge every other console has the option to select another language besides Dutch.
***** Well I saw the game for 5 euro's so I picked it up, so it isn't that great of a loss, still a cool game to have in the collection. But I definitly will be picking up this version of the game if I can play in English.
Im dutch too , and i agree with you since i was a kid i always played games in english , dutch dub is just so terrible. I got this game for free on xbox this month and i couldnt change the language you get dutch only but in this game the dutch dub is pretty well done later on in the game
Can't you change the console's language to change the in-game language as well on xbox? It would have been way easier for the developers to let that be the deciding factor regarding the language as they could simply use the same version for every region that way. Good luck anyway, the Dutch dub is actually pretty great, although I would still prefer to play the game in English due to the same reasons that have been mentioned in the comments above.
I feel awkward being one of the only 11 people who bought Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, and Okami when they all originally released back in the day. I remember seeing a trailer of BGE, being blown away by the world traversal via hovercraft... and proceeded to by it. Psychonauts and Okami hooked me by their art styles and premises. And man... what games they were. I still have no idea what the rest of the gaming community was doing to subsequently miss out on these 3 grand games. Was San Andreas and Halo REALLY that important? But nowadays, instead of being ahead of the pack, now I'm joining in on celebrated games long after the hype and crowds have died down. Which I guess is fortunate when it comes to games like Dark Souls; I can play the game and make it to Gwyn or The Rotten without worrying too much about invaders.
+OtterloopB I would like to know the gems you played last generation. I was playing Free games made by now indie developers while everyone was playing Assassins Creed and COD.
Ubisoft made a bit of a PIGS ear(pun intended, you know how 1 of the main characters is a....oh forget it!) when it came to the release of this game.Ubisoft thought it would be a great idea to release 3 triple A games a few weeks b4 the Christmas of that year(I forget what year these games came out)So instead of spreading out the releases of ‘Beyond Good & Evil,Prince of Persia & the Sands of Time,& XIII’ all of which were very different but all of which were triple A quality games but because of Ubisoft releasing all 3 games for that years Christmas, the sales were poor for BG&Evil & XIII,which is a shame because they’re brilliant games,Prince of Persia & the Sands of time fared a little better sales wise but Ubisofts Christmas trilogy release backfired & so BG&Evil & XIII became more like cult hits, instead of the mainstream hits they deserved to be
The most surprising thing about this game for me is how well the stealth was integrated with the Zelda style level design. Never though stealth and Zelda would mesh together so well. The sequel is pretty much dead at this point.
I got this game before everyone jumped on the bandwagon, by then it was too late it sold terribly. I had a large part in ripping the soundtrack back in college, back then that wasnt the easiest thing to do
Played it for three hours and my pig friend disappeared, so I couldn't make any progress without starting all the way over. I looked online to see if there would be a patch, but no, because Ubi Soft corporate BS.
I played it back in the day. Got far into the game but did not finish it. This was before it became a cult classic. Its a good game but way over rated. No - its not one of the best games in the past decade.
I'm not sure if I've lied about watching a show, reading a book, or playing a game when I haven't, but when I was a kid I lied about liking or not liking a show, book, or game if I was trying to make friends..
Loved this game when I was younger, it was pretty creepy back in the time.

That is 6 times
The best game Ubisoft will EVER make...
There's a second one on the way and I still love Rayman. Shut the hell up bitch Mizzah Tee. You are just upset Rayman is unbeatable unless I help you
Rayman Origins and Legends are the best fucking Ubisoft games ever made.
***** they are making Beyond Good and Evil 2. Was announced a few years back and us still in development
***** DEVELOPMENT HELL. I bet they dropped it because it was a poor seller.
I think everyone will disagree but assassins creed 4 is my favourite Ubisoft game
I can say I've played this game and it's absolutely fantastic
I never played this game and much like the vegetables I refused to eat as a kid, I'd regret missing out and thus be unprepared for the future we live in. Great stuff and good to hear your voice, as well! All is well with the RUclipss.
Love this game, brings back memories of the days when Ubisoft still published working, good games.
I played this in 2003 or 2004 and that's not a lie.

Have they fixed the game breaking bugs that make the partners dissapear?
GangrenaD By the way Tj.. Congrats on this massive redpillfest
BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2 for NX
Ubisoft don't really like working with Nintendo
it's better to have it on ps4/Xbone
@Mohamed Alnas, what makes you say that? They were one of the only major third-parties that stuck with the Wii U for a while.
*****
Exact
if only that would happen
What the hell is a NX?
Is that caveman speech for the Nintendo Switch? :P
What happened to BG&E 2? Vapourware?
lol nothing's changed a decade later...
God I completely forgot I played this time flies

I remember this game got a lot of praise when it came out, I never got around to playing. Maybe some day.
Tool0GT92 its worth it mate
Tool0GT92 PLAY IT NOW!
Tool0GT92 JUST DO IT!

2003 was the year.
Great review with some pretty effective allusions haha. Love this game. Got it in eighth grade (2008-2009) for around 5 bucks.
Great game, got it on the GameCube, will one day finish it.
Free on plus next week!
The most surprising thing about this game for me is how well the stealth was integrated with the Zelda style level design. Never though stealth and Zelda would mesh together so well. The sequel is pretty much dead at this point.
civilwarfare101 It was announced xd
Who's excited for Beyond Good & Evil 2?
If it ever does 😢
Who's here after watching BGAE 2 E3 reveal?
This game made me like video games again.
I got this game before everyone jumped on the bandwagon, by then it was too late it sold terribly. I had a large part in ripping the soundtrack back in college, back then that wasnt the easiest thing to do

Back when Ubisoft made more more than Assassins Creed sequels...
One of the best games of all time. Good review TJ!
Is is what we call a very barebones HD upscale job
Carlson and Peeters!
I highly doubt the sequel is gonna hold a candle to this game
459th Thumbs Up! You're welcome!
i played this game... really i did i swear lol
a review shouldnt be telling people what happens
That isn't Bulgarian!
Ubisoft in their prime.
Loved this game, the pig has got a good name lol
The first minute of that review was a pointless rant that shouldn't have taken more than 10 seconds to say if he just wanted to make the comparison.
I beat this game last month. I swer on me mum.
I played it back in the day. Got far into the game but did not finish it. This was before it became a cult classic. Its a good game but way over rated. No - its not one of the best games in the past decade.
Well...opinions?
Hundreds of games have strong female protagonists...
Yeah but they're pretty and feminists are mostly ugly, fat, purple haired women that hate anything that suggests a character is pretty.
too girly game
