Extremely timely for me. I am 63 years old and shot my first Shotgun /Trap / Skeet / Shooting Clay event two weeks ago. I was instantly addicted. There was a gentleman that had an "inexpensive" 12k shotgun that gave me killer advice during the event. As soon as I got home I started looking for a "proper" shotgun.😄😄😄. I have NEVER had so much fun shooting. Supposedly I was hitting all the hard shots. I now understand why people spend so much time and money participating in this sport. So much to learn and improve on. Love it! Thank you for this.
It’s one of the most fun and addictive things I ever done growing up my dad was a gun fanatic I was shooting around the south at 15,16 years old with 10,15,20,30k guns he was so wild about it he ordered 3 promatic throwers and built a true trap range then his own version of 5 stand and rabbit presentation got older and got into the real world but there is nothing I enjoy more than going over dragging some stuff out and playing
Trap Skeet and 5 Stand and Skeet are fun. Shooting Trap is like shooting Pheasant’s as most flush in front of you and are going away even with a Pointing Dog. Skeet is like shooting Quail, Ruffle Grouse and Dove and Waterfowl. If you want to be good at Sporting and 5 Stand shoot both Trap and Skeet this will teach you most Sporting Clay shots. As far as Gun Type Shoot what makes you Happy !
You should do a follow up episode to go over I-skeet and bunker. I know you touched on I-skeet but a good break down with contrast and comparison between American trap and skeet to international skeet and trap could be fun.
I feel like Jim would choke and complain the moment I showed up at an event with a IWI TS12 with a 9" barrel extension (choke tube) and a Vortex AMG UH-1 GenII holographic. :p
While I have a great Beretta over/under for everything, I actually grab my Beretta AL390 most often for shooting it all. Though, last time I shot sporting clays was a spur of the moment thing my coworkers kidnapped me for when I got to work, so I used one of their Citoris and that was a daisy.
Another great talk - Have you considered looking into training for running game on a range, like the european wild boar training, and maybe include a bit about LPVOs and red dots for hunting?
A few years back, I used to shoot in a local skeet league, and on the weekends we would go practice and have fun. One game we would inevitably end up playing was called "jap trap". It's a hoot to play with your buddies, because you're basically talking smack and poking fun at each other the whole time. You guys should try it... here's how it's played. Each shooter starts with a box of 25 shells. You play it on a field that is a combination trap and skeet on the same field, because you're going to be shooting trap targets from the skeet pads. First shooter starts on the first skeet pad, calls for the bird and shoots. If he hits it, he's done at that pad. If he misses, he has to keep shooting until he hits it. After everyone has shot and hit the bird, you move to the next skeet pad and repeat. This goes on from pad to pad. When you run out of shells you're done. Last guy with ammo left is the winner. Fun stuff! 😁
Ive been wanting a Browning Sweet Sixteen specifically to shoot clays and be different. I used to occasionally shoot clays for fun at a fudd range. I used a buddy's A5 12g and my own Maverick88 12g w/ 28" choked barrel. For funsies and to upset said fudds I would also slap on an 18" cylinder bore barrel and still consistently break clays with regular old 2-3/4 target load.
Jim, Mark, and Ryan, for the smoothbore .22, you want crimped rounds and the smallest chalk targets you can find, it may take a couple hits to shatter them, but the chalk will puff and give you an indication of hits and misses. It’s a short range game too!
So my only experience with a shotgun has been in 3 gun. Not the same sport not the same gun. This past weekend I went dove hunting with some buddies, didn't hit limit but also didn't get 0 so overall good time. That said which would be the best sport of the main 3 mentioned to practice for the next hunt. My club offers all 3, I'm thinking skeet. Any recommendations on the type of shotgun. I liked the semi I used over the O/U for the easy of loading between birds.
Mark do you know the Kenmore shooting range here in Wa. When I was in High school I use to go shoot clays weekly their. I would just use an 870Rem. All the old timers were running beautiful Over-Unders. They were cool old dudes.
Shooting sports are important. There is currently a bill (4420) in Massachusetts barring youths up to 15 years old from participating in shooting sports including skeet trap and clays shooting in a clear effort to eliminate shooting culture in the state.
I just got back from grouse hunting in Iron county with my Markel in the rain. One of my handy disposable "autoloaders" would have been a better choice. Lol
Everything is fun until you put up $350 in entry fees and then told you can’t miss more than once or twice. There’s recreational shooting and competitive shooting, trust me they’re totally different from a skill perspective and mental toughness perspective.
If you want to get better at shooting nothing shoot trap, if you want to get better at crossing birds shoot skeet, if you want to get better at ALL bird shooting, shoot sporting clays.....

10 minutes?. This is a whole episode!!
To be fair the 10 minute talk is 50 minutes. And their normal episodes are usually an hour.
Are you complaining about too much shooting content?!
@@pogeegitz i ment to ad whoo hoo at the end.
Very good episode. We want more on this subject 😊
One of the best intros yet
Best intro yet😂

Absolutely agree 👍 this is a must!
Thank You for this. Right on target for me. Appreciate it.

Annie Oakley is a super fun game as well.
Need to do more episodes with skeet, trap, and sporting clays.
5minutes in and I agree

Locally we call that game Mad Jack.
Another Great Video 💯Thank you Guys 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

We've got a few places in North Texas that have Helice and its a blast!
🙌🙌🙌

I used a SAGA12 on a fudd range just to see the reactions 😂. It made them more pissed to see me break 19/25 clays with it lol.

This sounds right up our alley! Thanks for the recommendation.

Great episode 👏 👌 👍
Quail Creek Plantation Okeechobee FL has ZZ birds. Great course!!
We have a monthly ZZ at my club i think. Maybe its just in the winter for all the visiting Canadians. Ive only shot it once it's a lot of fun though.
Am I the only one who caught the Shoop reference?? Way to make me feel old, Mark 😆
When i was in the 8th grade i worked at a trap range i was the boy in the trap bunker loading the clays on the thrower it hurts when it hits you

That sucks! Clearly woke democrats That typically know nothing.
As usual, if the state can shape children it gets to shape the future.
.410 skeet/skeet killed a big share of our doves and quail. Tons of fun.
Was it the low house 6?
Skeet is for old men, trap and sporting all the way baby!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Sporting clays with sub gauges is peak shotgun gaming.
A 51min #10MinuteTalk lol. Not complaining guys. 👍
Skeet skeet skeet
Awww skeet skeet
Giggity Giggity Skeet Skeet Gooo
🤣🤣🤣
Do you prefer to skeet on the high house or the low house?
I just got back from grouse hunting in Iron county with my Markel in the rain. One of my handy disposable "autoloaders" would have been a better choice. Lol
You just needed to put wax on your gun.
If sporting clays didn't exist id be Happy shooting skeet. But the 1st time i shot a clays course my desire to return to a skeet course died.
full and extra full all the time
If you guys like these three games, ya really need to try your hand at Helice(if you can).
What about "skeets"? I always hear people talking about "shooting skeets"...
Clay sports some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on
Pull
Most skeet shooters use over & under shotguns same with trap shooters , sporting clays can use semiautomatic shotguns
Me who jus went sport shooting w a Benelli m4 clone 😅
School Bus lead
Day one commenting on every video until we get a full 8.6 blk review
If you want to shoot a perfect round, you have to hit the first one.
so #10MinuteTalk is more of a guideline that is often ignored? :D
You're not wrong 🤣🤣

Trap, skeet, sporting clays, the over/under is king.
Trap is way boring mark, you definitely need to shoot more skeet
Shows chica in the thumbnail then video starts and it’s 3 dudes. Go figure 🤦♂️. F 👎
The thirst is strong with this one...
