    Very informative video. Thank you. I have been diagnosed with this and had a biopsy which confirmed. Started on 80mg steroids then slowly reduced with blood tests monthly, but still inflammatory markers way to high. I am currently on 20mg while awaiting PET scan. Fingers crossed we can sort it out soon.

    Just found this channel..WOW!! very informative and to the point on each subject. I am an AS sufferer for over 40 years...i am now 65. Along with IBD and T2D and many other comorbidities it gets very frustrating trying to deal with everything all at once. You become very astute at knowing when things aren't working right...Anti-TNF's ...i have been on all of them...they failed after 8 mos. so now its back to prednisone...MTX doesn't work on AX SPA...most nsaids i find are useless. if you have CKD...that's a definite no-no. CRP and ESR w/o meds > 145 each, chronic anemia from inflammation and MGUS. I do believe that PMR sans GCA (headaches) have creeped in as new pain has developed mostly shoulders and hips...w/o steroids...agony.... but a low dose 0f 10mg per day seems to hold it in check...but now BP is climbing and Blood Sugar goes over 10 mmol/l...I hate steroids but the pain is worse than the drug itself.....i suppose its better than oxycodone for sure....anti ccp and ra factor negative and pos. HLA-B27...seronegative RA.....I think its entirely possible to have late onset of PMR with AS...your thoughts?

      PMR can come separately from AS but AS can also cause pain that be similar

    Hi Dr Girnita, Thank you for a very informative video! I have a question about the headaches. Are those similar to the ice pick headaches, where all of a sudden you get a very sharp pain on one side of your temple? Are they persistent in this disease?

    • @rheumatologistoncall
      @rheumatologistoncall  Год назад +1

      they can be acute, sudden or they can start and develop over a few days, weeks

      @@rheumatologistoncall Thank you. I have gotten ice pick headaches over the years once in a great while. Those are pretty painful but they go away quickly. Watching the video made me think about it. I have an appointment coming up in several weeks. Will definitely bring this up. Of course, if I get this really bad I know to go to the emergency room. Thank you again!

    I was diagnosed with PMR & GCA 18 months ago. I was immediatly put on Prednisone and my eyesight problems improved overnight. SInce then I have been weened off of Prednisone but in the last two months shoulder pain has occured in my left shoulder, and last night seemd to be spreading to my right shoulder area. I am wondering if I should go back on Prednisone?

    I was diagnosed with PMR at the age of 41. It is possible to be younger!!! Now I am out of remission. I enjoyed remission for a little more than four years. I pray for that again. This is very frustrating.

      I think so. Is yours? Mine is. It was 29 but Dr said my kidneys are ok. Then she says inflammation is affecting them so I'm confused and still worried. Or are we just more dehydrated than normal people. I can't tolerate the heat.

    I am 65 years old had many back surgeries still fighting with my back but one morning woke up in my right hand was swollen twice the size like a pop by hand I waited about two weeks and I couldn’t stand it anymore I went to the ER and they did a bunch of blood tests and told me I had carpal tunnel but then three days later carpal tunnel moved into carpal shoulders and carpal hips that’s when somebody figured it out and they put me on steroids the very first dose I took I woke up the next morning with nearly complete relief it was more than amazing because this sickness is crippling you can open pill bottles carry a coffee cup get yourself a drink nothing sometimes going to the bathroom is a chore by yourself
