- A short film highlighting just how lucky we are to be immersed in nature when fishing. Spending time by the waterside is great therapy. Wildlife is amazing. It's good to be outside, it's good to be fishing and it's good to be alive!

You can't beat a Robin by your side when you're fishing. They are like a labrador good company but always hungry. Love them both.
They poop a lot though, as my camera discovered once and took forever to clean!
And that’s why we go fishing as well, glad to see you released one of your worms Jon !!!!!!
Ha ha, no that was a lobworm in the wild... well actually it was hiding under a big rock til I lifted it up!
Thank you for that Jon. If people don't see the wonders around them when fishing...their loss.
So true :-)
That kind of view is half the reason I enjoy fishing Jon, thanks for reminding me of it
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Isn’t that a good part of the reason we go fishing? Lovely to catch some fish, but being close to nature, enjoying the environment we are lucky enough to be in, sums it all up for me. You can have a poor day fishing wise, but still a great day fishing. Thanks Jon for reminding us it’s not all about winning.
Thanks for sharing the appreciation :-)
Lovely to see all the wildlife
Absolutely :-)
Love to see kingfishers, buzzards, kestrels and sparrow hawks on my local water. Fishing, flora and fauna…..fabulous. 🪷
Reflection Jon, I wish for the old days whe it was peaceful and natural as you have admirably shown.
Cheers. It still can be :-)
There are a lot of good reasons to go fishing ,and they are beautifully filmed in your video Jon
Appreciate that thanks
Brilliant Jon and what its all about. Thank you
My pleasure
One of the best things about fishing the same lake regularly is the opportunity to watch birds rear their young. Last year I saw 8 cygnets grow from balls of fluff to majestic Swans. Also...you can't beat having a Robin for company on the peg!
They are pesky sometimes but I still love em!
Luv this, great clips of what we get to see and experience in our amazing sport.❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved the wild life Jon expertly filmed😊
Cheers, just a little compilation. The woodpecker last week prompted me to do it!
Great video mate,as i always say its the whole experience and joy of being outside and the fishing is the cherry on the top
Absolutely! Glad to share it with everyone! :-)
Couldn't agree more Jon! We are so blessed and privileged to witness far more of the beauties of creation than people who don't go fishing. As you rightly say, it is great for our mental health and for the soul. I have even heard reports of GPs suggesting to their patients that they take up fishing as a way of improving their mental health, and we already know of course that many service veterans suffering with PTSD take it up for the same reason. And we never begrudge a robin (or even a wren, as I had once one very cold Winter's day) some of our maggots! 😊
I think little wrens are my favourite!
Lovely Jon I think being in the outdoors and taking in all the wildlife around us is a big part of fishing especially on natural venues
Absolutely
It’s not just about the fishing, it’s about appreciation for the surroundings and the creatures that live there .. we’re just visitors after all in their home.. great vid Jon 👍🏻
That's true
I enjoyed that Jon. Thanks for sharing. All the best.
Thanks 👍
Yep, Nice to just stop and look around sometimes. 😎
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it! (That was on a tune I used to love)
You didn’t manage a kingfisher 😂 we are so lucky and privileged 👍 I always say its not about catching fish its the environment we fish in and what goes on around us, nice video Jon 👍
Very true. Im not fast enough for the kingfishers!
I keep telling my wife and my workmates that it is not just about catching fish ... I can just show them this now, Cheers Jon 🤩
Sounds good to me! :-)
Very nice.
Thank's Jon.
My pleasure!
What a great little video that is John I’d have been happy there without the rod for the day
It's nice to see so much appreciation for a humble little film :-)
That was super Jon, thank you. Life on the bank, just wonderful.
My pleasure!
Tackling Minds - more people need to get involved and be made aware of the great work they do and the benefits of our wonderful sport.
Agreed
These kind of things anglers see all the time fantastic
So true!
Pretty amazing Jon. How often do we really notice what goes on around us. Makes you appreciate what we could lose if we didnt look after it. Fantastic. Thanks Jon.
Absolutely
Top john
Thanks John!
Not just a fisherman but a wildlife cameraman, watch out simon king.
Ha ha, just a humble little compilation I wanted to share, but won't be on Countryfile any time soon! :-)
Great mindfulness clips , thanks John just what I needed
What a super video especially as we still have snow on the grund and the lakes are still frozen over. Nice shots of the kestrel. Thanks
Many thanks!
Fantastic video made my day just before I go to work sets me up I work for the wonders of fishing 🎣
Glad to hear it!
Lovely vid Jon ! Hope you well 🙏🏻
Thanks! You too!
Cheers for this. Keep your daughter away from social media until she's 18, & let her see all the sights of nature that those glued to their iphones will never see.
From the title I guess you might be a Simple MInds fan - in which case, very apt.
I haven't a clue about Simple Minds I'm afraid but I can probably hum the tune without knowing it!
@@JonArthur you'd have to google "alive & kicking" Jon!
I thought it was U2 lol
@@JonArthur same era at least!
Lovely video, just goes to show it's not all about catching
Amen to that! :-)
Says it all about angling...people just don't know what their missing.
Absolutely :-)
Great video jon , relaxing calm 😎
Glad you enjoyed it
Sitting shiverinhg in a winter match on the river Thame when a family of about ten long tailed tits turned up and searched through the willow behind me always gave me a warm feeling. And seeing wood pigeons on the river Severn crash into the water to load up a drink for their squabs. Amazing. Thought the first one I saw do it had been shot 😵. Get the same enjoyment playing golf these days. Winter always brings the Brent geese in their hundreds to the field next to the course. Too old to go match fishing any more and nowhere to run a stick float through since moved
I think seeing a gang of long-tailed tits working in the hedgerows is one of the most pleasurable sights
Anyone that wonders why we go fishing should watch this film Not all about catching fish
Absolutely :-)
Not all about catching fish, is it 👍
Too true
Super! The next David Attenborough?
Ha ha, I wish! :-)
robins are nice but their tweet is so loud for a bird so small i had 2 yesterday doing shifts but the other week i had a pheasant waiting for maggots but he let his call out right next to me and i nearly fell off my box it was so loud cant beat nature and nature loves fishermen
Still better than a ringtone though! :-)
nice one mate,
Cheers :-)
