    Such a great lake for that method, very few snags , so you can let them run and run. Despite being a huge body of water it's not tremendously deep. Fantastic fishing Jon! Its 10miles from me as well so local!

    Another, as always, captivating, enjoyable video John. I picked up a few tips from it, although I’ve never fished Bodington, I’m sure it applies to most pellet waggler fishing. Just one question, if you’d be so kind to explain? What’s the idea of using a stronger hook length than your mainliner? I’ve always thought using the same, or slightly lighter was the norm? Cheers🎣

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад +1

      It's a good question, but I just want the extra durability and reassurance of the 0.23, which is a different material to the reel line. I simply couldn't cast a thicker reel line and maintain presentation unless I compensated with a much bigger waggler.

      @@JonArthurAh, right, I understand that now. Thank You for taking the time to answer, & I’ll give that a try.👌🏻🎣

    Great vid as always Jon. Can I ask why you use 0.23 hook length, could you go striaght though with 0.20 mainline? less knots. Also I know its a very active method, as static/hanging hook bait is bad(?) but zig rigs are similar right, just bottom to top not top-bottom, if you catch me..... Take care dude, JB

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад

      Id never fish direct at Boddington or carp waggler fishing as if I get a breakage I want to just lose the hook length, not the entire rig. Pellet wags are not cheap and retackling up the whole lot is time consuming. Agreed with the zigs. Its something Ive toyed with on and off and there must be some mileage in it...

    Obviously thought the Waggler was a Roach. Good little session. Shows how the wind can play a big part in the catching of the Carp. What was the Peg number you fished from. It looked like it was in the 60's or low 70's. Cheers Jon.

    Often wonder if its worthwhile targetting the roach on tough days at places like barston , meadowlands ect, on waggler, ever tried it in a match?, great vid as always👍

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад +1

      Absolutely in harder areas. Skimmers at Barston and roach at Boddington. You could do 50lb of them on the right day. Depends what the framing weights are going to be as two or three carp at Boddington would wipe out 5 hours of roach!

      You add a small squirt of washing up liquid to it for when your feeder fishing or on the bomb, cast out then place rod on it so your line passes through it and wind in then your line sinks perfectly. 💯👌👍.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад

      It's just an old sponge that I sometimes add washing up liquid to help degrease the line if I want it to sink.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад +1

  • @takleteck7008

    Great vid. Can you please confirm what main line you use for PW? It's just that when I searched for horizon mono it was marketed as "Ultra-fast sinking monofilament"

    • @stevemccrory9130
      @stevemccrory9130 14 дней назад

      It will sink if you want it, but (as Jon said) it was new on the reel so hadn't had a chance to take on water which would help it sink.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад +1

      Yes, but as I said in the film I personally don't see it as a sinking mono, more a neutral one. I use the dark brown Matrix XD Mono for sinking feeder work more these days.

    I was watching your casting john. You weren't trapping the line on the cast to make the pellet land further than the float to get a natural fall just saying.your good dangler, but felt you should of been trapping the line just before the float hit the water

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  14 дней назад

      I ALWAYS trap and feather the line, so it must not have been so clear to see. If you don't, the float will obviously crash in like a bag of spanners, plunge too deep and most likely tangle. The only time I don't trap the line is fishing to a line clip, which you'd never ever do at Boddington. Sorry if that was difficult for you to see.
