General Hospital will have been on the air for 62 years on April 1st. I was 3 years old at the time, so I basically have no concept of a world without it.
Wow, we have an outright villain (Nicholas), a person manipulated into being a villain (Adam), a reluctant villain (Barnabas, even as a human), and a villain who thinks he's a hero (Willie). These 1968 storylines are wonderfully insane. Also, we haven't heard that Barnabas theme music in a minute. We get a little of it here.
I think the term "anti-hero" is appropriate for all those you mentioned, except Nicholas, who is a classic villain. Anti-heroes are characters with morally ambiguous traits and flawed personalities who are prominent protagonists in a story. I think Julia Hoffman and Jeff Clark would also be considered anti-heroes. The other true villain is of course Angelique. I think Professor Stokes has a true hero role, similar to Professor Van Helsing's role as the hero in the novel Dracula. Joe Haskell had been a true hero before being controlled by Angelique. Vicki and Maggie seem to be the consistently good damsels in distress. Elizabeth, Roger and Carolyn are complex characters who are sometimes the self-indulgent rich folk, sometimes the victims, and sometimes the powerful Collins, but more often than not they are trying to do what they think is the right thing, but also often being mistaken about what is right. I think the variety and complexity of the characters and their interactions with each other in various situations keeps Dark Shadows fascinating to watch.
Twisted and tangled and amazing to watch, How sick any are trick plus loved! Can't over look DS to famous to see the hard work that went into each episode! DS Fan Forever! ❤

Sad that Nicholas is the only one who can tame Adam at this point. Not even Professor Stokes can get the man-made creation to listen to reason, thanks to Nicholas' bad influence over him. Willie's heart was in the right place, the same can't be said about his brain. He should have known that the mausoleum secret room is the LAST place he should have taken her. It's not surprising it brought back all the terrible memories of Barnabas the vamp kidnapping and tormenting her.
Nicholas is a real scam artist. The way he manipulates Adam and Carolyn is unbelievable. Willie still thinks he did the right thing by kidnapping Maggie. Holding her prisoner in a cold place where they put dead people is a really bad idea.
After Jeff's attempt to perform the experiment with Angelique failed because Barnabas interrupted them, Barnabas fired Jeff and told him to stay away from the old house, so Angelique no longer has anyone on the inside to perform the experiment with her as the source of the life force. Perhaps they will sneak into the old house and try again soon. I think Angelique should have bitten Julia instead of Jeff, and forced Julia to perform the experiment with Angelique as the life force behind Barnabas' back. Since Barnabas didn't do anything in the first experiment but provide the life force, he is not needed for this experiment. Angelique and Julia and/or Jeff would have had the perfect opportunity to try the experiment again while Barnabas was at Collinwood sitting up with Vicki and Willie was in the mausoleum with Maggie.

Nancy Barrett was such a great actress.
56 years after it's creation, we sit and enjoy this daytime gothic soap opera. Blows my mind to think that in 2028 it will be 60 years ago.
Actually June 1966 was when the series started. So next year will be the 60th anniversary.

Nicholas is deviously handsome as always 💕☺️

@@luminiferous1960I agree! It's so unfortunate that the show only lasted for 5 years, while other daytime dramas lasted for decades.

When I was in second grade I drew Barnabas in his double breasted suit...paying close attention his jagged hair style...
That's great lol
Do you still have the drawing? It's so cool that you did that! 😊
He looked better as Bramwell in the later episodes when he swooped it backways.
