When the organist of a small village church is knocked down by an unseen intruder, the peaceful new life of an ex-police inspector takes on an unsettling turn. Septimus Treloar, formerly of Scotland yard and now Rector of St Mary, Danedyke, soon finds himself embroiled with a pair of nasty characters; the bogus major, with his parcel of poisoned meat for the rector's dog, and Armchair, with a taste for grievous bodily harm. The pair are after the famous Danedyke cup - a solid gold chalice said to have belonged to the Virgin Mary. But the cup has been lost for 40 years, and the secret of its whereabouts is well hidden. Where is the cup? And can Septimus, aided by his trusty dog and the village infant school teacher, unravel the mystery and get to the treasure before the villains?

Being born in 73 there is a whole host of TV that simply passed me by, which I now get to enjoy as if it was new.
Me too, I love watching stuff from late 70s through to the 80s. I was born in 1974, and I can't believe I'm 50 this year😮

Loving this. Mystery, humour, no bad words or gory violence.
Unfortunately I lost the ability to watch good television in 1967 when My parents forcibly relocated Me to Australia.
Fortunately now I can do some much needed catching up.

Missed this as I was out enjoying myself being a teenager😂 so now I’m old I’ve got time to catch up on all the dramas I missed. 🎉. One thing that does strike me is how all the young actors went on to great things.
Everyone remembers Derek Thompson as being in Casualty, but I always remember him being in The Long Good Friday and first 2 series of The Gentle Touch. Michael Craig was the ship's Captain in Triangle.

Just love British productions. This was incredibly charming & informative. Henry V11 was a good King & the Monastic time was beneficial to all. Then here comes Henry V111, who destroyed it all.
