There must have been a shortage of those turquoise/blue candles. Barnabas has some white candles in the drawing room.

I can't believe how dumb Barnabas is. Professor Stokes is trying to warn Barnabas that Adam's new mate is possessed by the life force of a deranged killer. Stokes is the only reasonable person on this show.

To be fair to Barnabas and Julia, they were not aware Nicholas was behind creating Adam’s mate.
If they had known, Barnabas would’ve had a different response.

@josephsirchia65 They also didn't realize Nicholas was behind Carolyn's disappearance and sudden recovery. The writers were doing this on purpose to build suspense and it works.

Of course Barnaby is on to her but they needed a plot complication to drag this thing out.

@@reddahlia35Yeah. The Adam era not one of my favorite eras, but there is some good plot planning and suspense in there. It's just Adam and Eve are so unlikeable! 😅

Barnabas is uncharacteristically nonchalant with the information from Professor Stokes. The more I watch Barnabas, the more corrupt he acts, human or not. Some things you cannot put on Angelique nor her vampire curse. Ben Stokes once said that Barnabas was no good when he was human either. Even Joshua called him out when Barnabas tried to choke him after Joshua discovered him as a vampire.

I never recalled Ben saying Barnabas was evil when Barnabas was still human, quite the opposite, Ben said many times that as a human being Barnabas treated him better than anyone else.
Sorry, but Angelique's curse had EVERYTHING to do with Barnabas' personality change after she cursed him. Had she not used her witchcraft to ruin his life, he and Josette could have lived out their lives together, and very happily.
I will concede though that his wanting to use Maggie for the life force for Adam's made was a huge dick move on his part. After what he did to her when he was still a vampire, he never should have tried to involve her in the first place. I have to admit, can't put that one on Angelique.
I'd also say that Barnabas was acting a bit too much like Roger in here. I'd expect Roger to be dismissive of something like this, but Barnabas is the last person who should be scoffing at the supernatural considering he was a supernatural being himself not too long ago.

@@BethHarmon-y9d When Ben temporarily left him and got drunk at The Eagle after Barnabas unveiled his plans for bricking up Reverend Trask in the basement after Vicki was found guilty of witchcraft. Perhaps Ben meant that Barnabas was more passive aggressive when he was human the first time around.

      @
From what we saw of Barnabas as a human in 1795, he was actually quite a gentle, kind man, in sharp contrast to the vampire who was released from his coffin in 1967.
The only times that Barnabas lost his cool were when he learned that Jeremiah and Josette had eloped behind his back, but that was understandable, he felt he had been betrayed by the two people he trusted and loved the most. And Barnabas stood up for Vicky quite fiercely when Reverend Trask came to interrogate her. Also understandable since we the viewers knew that Vicki was innocent.
