    Thoughts on the episode? Also I realised after filming, the binary/non binary scene was not referring to anything gender related. Just the ACTUAL numeric definition of the words, but still maybe a little wink to camera. Either way, wasn’t a big deal! Glad to see the representation

      imo this episode was mid at best, the writing was decent until the latter half of the episode where it all fell apart. They still haven't learned and keep trying to force woke shit down our throats. The best part was probably the increase in budget. The acting was good from most of the cast, however Yasmin Finney didn't really have much emotion (idk because she was much better in Heartstopper). They ruined Meep and I think the new TARDIS looks boring and lacks any personality. They also haven't had anything to foreshadow the Toymaker

      of course it was referring to the gender thing, the whole characters arc was about being trans lol. It was also cringey as f

      @@charg1nmalaz0r51 Rose doesn't get a character arc, she didn't change besides having The Doctor's mind (which doesn't make sense). But yeah it feels like she was only picked as an actress because she was trans and that's really disappointing as she is much better in Heartstopper. And her character was just blatantly sexist lmao

    For me it was really great to see the representation as well. I don’t really care what the anti woke brigade has to say. This show has always been inclusive.

    Personal nitpick, the Doctor was U.N.I.T.'s second scientific advisor. The first was Liz (Elizabeth) Shaw.

    Exactly! You asked the same the same thing I did: how did she know his face was a return after several regenerations? As far as she knows, he’s looked like this all along!

    • @TreyHarris
      @TreyHarris 9 месяцев назад

      I think in light of how “Journey’s End” played out, it makes _more_ sense than the alternative (that DoctorDonna would only know Doctor stuff from 15 years ago). When Donna made the first reference to his face, it was after the Doctor “woke her up”, but before she and Rose let it go, so she was the DoctorDonna at that moment. We don’t really know how the metacrisis is supposed to work, but the metacrisis human Doctor somehow knew of events long after the hand it had budded from was cut off; so it seems it gave access to the Doctor’s memories via some sort of telepathy. So I don’t think it’s necessarily true or even sensible that Donna’s memories from the Doctor should have stopped at the point when he wiped her memory, 15 years ago. So I think, at that moment, DoctorDonna could probably remember 11, 12, and 13 as well.
      But with even minimal telepathy she could definitely know that the returned face was the thing most troubling the Fourteenth Doctor, because that was heavy on his mind.

      This is a good theory, and hopefully in the next two weeks we will know if it's true!@@TreyHarris

    • @TreyHarris

      There’s another piece of evidence I missed (I mentioned I’d just had my attention called to it in another comment): one of Rose’s gonk creations from the shed shown in the montage along with the Dalek, Judoon, etc., was Karvanista, the Lupari from Doctor Who: Flux (a.k.a. series 13). So Rose definitely had (subconscious) access to memories/experiences from 13 before 14 ever showed up, and presumably Donna did as well. So that solves that question, I think.

    • @rabbitfishtv
      @rabbitfishtv 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@TreyHarris You were right, good sir! Confirmed by “Wild Blue Yonder,” DoctorDonna read the Doctor’s mind and new what he’d gone through in her subjective 15 years, including, as you noted in your gonk comment, the events of the Flux!

    I feel like the moment around 15:03 when donna and rose let the metacrisis go was a pretty poor explanation as to why donna could just keep living. The logic being that men wouldn't be able to think of letting it go?? Idk tryna do a girlboss moment but its so forced lol

    Today’s RUclips BTS drop from the official Doctor Who channel gave more evidence that Donna and Rose had access to 11-13’s memories, so knew that 14 was a returning face and not an older 10: one of Rose’s gonks was Karvanista the Lupari from Doctor Who: Flux (Jodie and Chib’s last regular season). It was shown in the episode but was easy to miss.

    It felt like a slight step down from recent years for me, but then I'm not the biggest fan of the Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Russell T. Davies era given how different it is from what came before. I did find a lot of enjoyment in it, however, especially with it being based on the comic of the same name, and I'm looking forward to the next two 60th-anniversary specials and then the Christmas special. I especially appreciated the nod to "The Stones of Blood" with the "Courtroom" scene.
    As for the budget, Bad Wolf, a private company, is now producing the show; they have access to multiple financing partners, not just Disney, so it's not clear to me who funded what. Russell T. Davies has confirmed, however, that the amount of money available has been misreported. There is an increased budget, but not as much as 10 million. I didn't notice any differences personally; I felt that there was a difference in the quality of the CGI when they switched to DNEG Milk from VFX with the arrival of Jodie. They also bought new cameras, which I believe are still being used now, even with Bad Wolf taking over. This was all achieved by going from 12 episodes a year to 10, meaning that the money could be reallocated; they even filmed in South Africa. Series 13 lasted for six episodes because of the pandemic. Ncuti Gatwa's first two seasons will apparently be 8 episodes each.

    She said nonbinary because the Meta Crisis was originally binary (2 people), and when that power was shared with Rose it became "nonbinary" (more then 2 people). Rose might also happen to be nonbinary (the episode doesn't clarify, other then her being trans) but that moment was very clearly referencing how many people the Meta Crisis is connected to, no longer just being Donna and the Doctor.

    • @charg1nmalaz0r51
      @charg1nmalaz0r51 9 месяцев назад

      sure but the real reason they used non binary was to shoe horn the trans plot into the techowaffle

      Ecclestone and Tennant had the same, last season of Smith shared it with a lot of Capaldi and his only had minor changes after the fact if any at all, and multiple classic Doctors shared TARDISes for a while. I’m pretty sure it’s been stated this will be Ncuti’s and i think that’s great!!

      @@ballanceproductions1712 ---- When I think about it.... there has to be a RUclips out there that quite precisely delves into the total number of TARDIS designs over these last 6 decades! Toss in novels with their covers and BIG FINISH... ....and :):):):):):):):):):):) there actually may be a very accurate answer to this! In another franchise... the difference between being a Trekkie and a Trekker was syndication! Classic STAR TREK episodes aired a week apart, there were 25 in a year. In the 1970s with syndication, STAR TREK aired each day....the new fans memorized EACH episode and every detail. STAR TREK was shot on film, not videotape. The tragic loss of episodes by the BBC did not happen!

    Oh, I know why it wasn't a good moment, because it was total and complete sexist bs, "no male presenting", give me a freaking break. Be inclusive, by all means, but don't try to do it by trashing other genders or races or whatever, that bs is overdone and it's just backfiring more and more.
