I started panicking when he used literally every boss’s spells; as I had defeated all the bosses in the game besides him, Godfrey and Radagon! Had me pressed until I realized he was a glass-cannon! 😂
I defeated basically every boss in the game before facing him this last play through, aside from the last few bosses of course. The dood had a full array of attacks I’d never seen from my first play through. I was like, “uhhh, new moves huh Gideon?” Makes sense now lol.
He knows an impressive amount of things, and is a legitimately skilled sorcerer. However a coward is still a coward. He's no stronger than a weak tarnished, and no match for you.
The twist that he's a bad guy would've been well worth it if the game had half decent story telling. I think I talked to him once or twice in my first playthrough and didn't even realize it was Gideon from roundtable until I replayed 😅
I only wish that he had thieved some of the power and poise of the other bosses, too. For such an interesting character he goes down just so quickly and has no impact on the ending. Gideon is one of those people who should have an ending associated with him. Since he is basically the only character in the game except maybe Morgott to end up 100% loyal to Queen Marika, he represents a unique belief system for the player and a unique outcome for the Lands Between.
Strategically speaking, what he did is the smart thing to do. The best victories are those you don't even need to fight to obtain. The only part of his story that I don't quite get is the reason as to why he didn't want to become Elden Lord. He said something about it being Marika's wish, but I don't know why he'd respect those wishes instead of taking the throne for himself.
Put some respect on Gideon’s name. He was one of the first Tarnished and made the Roundtable to help others but was continually disappointed by them. Vargram does his own thing, Vyke went crazy, Bernahl became a Recusant, and everyone else seems incompetent.
Im 100% sure that Gideon only learns the attacks from bosses if you speak to him after you encounter them. So basically if you never speak to him he cant learn any attacks and will be heavily nerfed during his encounter
It would makes it harder actually as the spell he learn when you tell him about Mohg and Malenia are slow spells that replace spell that he can spam and makes him hard in challenge run
@thulsa_doom true but I remember people crying their eyes out when old rivers and mimic tear got nerfed. Particularly mimic tear for PvE and Rivers of Blood for PvP. I specifically remember a lot of people being like "great now mimic tear is gutted." Even now most of the people I see using summons are still using mimic tear for the DLC so I guess it ain't gutted, lol. Some people legitimately got mad cause mimic tear won't completely by itself win the game for you anymore. You now have to actually press SOME inputs.
If you try to fight him with spells he is hard. He does a lot of damage and can cast faster than you. If you don't defeat him the first time i remember him not repeating his speech and immediately casting spells from the second time.
I loved how when we first travel to Roundtable hold he starts showing off calling the tarnished mere guest and will only accept him as equal after he shows him a great tune. My first question would be something like: first show me how many great tunes you have grandpa? What, none? Then FO plox, Ty 😂
Him, bernald and vyke probably have greats runes, becauses they manage to go to montaintop of giants (after capital where you need 2 greats runes) also fingers readers say when you gain a greats runes that the fingers have the same interest in us as in Gideon. There is probably a lot of demi god forgetten by history (the golden line from whom godrick descends probably, like godefroy)

He will only have the bosses spells if you tell him about them and get his rewards in the Roundtable Hold. You can still get the rememberance's but just dont tell Gideon.
It was probably those dung scarab thingies that stole the spells for him. They often drop AOWs, sorceries and incantations out in the world. They probably picked them off the bodies of fallen warriors.

Hes basically a vulture. Scavengin the corpses left behind
Gideon the copycat-ninja of the stealingan
Here in Spain we say "Gideon putero estafador" and I think that's beautiful
Sir Gideon, the Rat
hes all knowing not all fighting, he looted their homes and corpses to gain more knowledge on spells and lore
He needs "HELP!"
😂😂
Can someone explain me why Gideon asking for help is a meme in souls community?
@@oficialbrindes4369 I think it originated from a RUclips channel called BjorntheBear. He makes Elden Ring boss battle videos and Gideon says it as he's getting wrecked by other bosses or opponents.
There was a owl/vulture comparison dichotomy, and you decided to go for hyena...
He was my gossip buddy 😂😂 and personally his fight was fun like bruh you are using a fraction of the power of the people i had to fight at 100% power
His boosfight is a genius concept, but I leveled up so much to defeat Malenia that I had to spare him to hear the last of his speech
sir gideon ofnir; who knows some stuff
I had no idea. Because when I got to him I was lvl 190 so me and my Mimic Tear buddy destroyed him before he finished his speech.
gideon is such a cool character and clearly pretty important, it would have been cool if he was a tougher boss or if he showed more of a role throughout, i like him either way tho
He can actually be kinda tough if you fight him on his own terms... But he doesn't deserve a fair fight.
@@lonelyshpee7873 fair
@@lonelyshpee7873 a fair fight? I told him to get rekt and then tea bagged him.
I started panicking when he used literally every boss’s spells; as I had defeated all the bosses in the game besides him, Godfrey and Radagon!
Had me pressed until I realized he was a glass-cannon! 😂
Damn that’s rly cool, I’m gonna try fighting him at an appropriate level to get the full boss experience
I defeated basically every boss in the game before facing him this last play through, aside from the last few bosses of course. The dood had a full array of attacks I’d never seen from my first play through. I was like, “uhhh, new moves huh Gideon?” Makes sense now lol.
I haven't seen any of his spells I've always just ended his lease in life before he finishes talking
He doesn't last very long against rivers of blood
I do the exact same thing as Gideon really he's working smarter not harder by getting other people to do it. Honor is long dead in the lands between.
"I knew you-"
LOOK INTO MY EYES!!
He knows an impressive amount of things, and is a legitimately skilled sorcerer. However a coward is still a coward. He's no stronger than a weak tarnished, and no match for you.
Thank you! For whatever reason i could not figure out what the eye surcoats were related to but now i do. Thanks
The twist that he's a bad guy would've been well worth it if the game had half decent story telling. I think I talked to him once or twice in my first playthrough and didn't even realize it was Gideon from roundtable until I replayed 😅
Dang, it's almost like the renowned wizard is learning spells
I only wish that he had thieved some of the power and poise of the other bosses, too. For such an interesting character he goes down just so quickly and has no impact on the ending. Gideon is one of those people who should have an ending associated with him. Since he is basically the only character in the game except maybe Morgott to end up 100% loyal to Queen Marika, he represents a unique belief system for the player and a unique outcome for the Lands Between.
that’s so cool i never even thought about us affecting his spells
I never even knew he stole spells, I always end up destroying him on every playthrough
Strategically speaking, what he did is the smart thing to do. The best victories are those you don't even need to fight to obtain. The only part of his story that I don't quite get is the reason as to why he didn't want to become Elden Lord. He said something about it being Marika's wish, but I don't know why he'd respect those wishes instead of taking the throne for himself.
man is a budget mimic tear...
i never knew
Gideon: (Using spells/incantations of the demigods)
Endgame Tarnished: Look what you need to mimic a fraction of my power.
Says the guy using a +10 mimic, rivers of blood and giant's flame take thee
Nothing wrong with those. They're are part of the game and work as intended.
@thulsa_doom true but I remember people crying their eyes out when old rivers and mimic tear got nerfed. Particularly mimic tear for PvE and Rivers of Blood for PvP.
I specifically remember a lot of people being like "great now mimic tear is gutted."
Even now most of the people I see using summons are still using mimic tear for the DLC so I guess it ain't gutted, lol.
Some people legitimately got mad cause mimic tear won't completely by itself win the game for you anymore. You now have to actually press SOME inputs.
I didn’t know that Gideon only used the spells of bosses you’ve beaten that’s actually really interesting and really pieces together his character
Hey don’t talk shit on us hyenas.
I never knew that. Amazing mechanic and detail that genuinely change and enhance the incredibly short fight.
I didn’t know that about the boss powers. Pretty cool
If you try to fight him with spells he is hard. He does a lot of damage and can cast faster than you. If you don't defeat him the first time i remember him not repeating his speech and immediately casting spells from the second time.
Still a great fight in my opinion
I killed gideon while he monologued and never saw his attacks lmao
I really didn’t know how he fights
I always just run up while he talks and fuck him up
I just grabbed him with that one Frenzied Flame attack and he died IMMEDIATELY, dude underestimated just how much side content I'd done by that point.
Sir Gideon Ofnir, aka if the British Museum was a Tarnished
I wouldn't call him thieving... Because his "quest" is asking us to share knowledge of what we know bout them after he tell about them a little 😅
All we tell him is where they were and what they seemed to be doing.
Facts knowledge on the lore or universe!!
If you do all the quests for Gideon his final state is hard as fuck and it’s awesome. If you ignore him, he’s just a pushover boss and it’s hilarious.
Work smarter, not harder
Underneath his mask is actually Patches
L gideon
For a person calling himself all knowing he really didn't know to stop talking when he saw me running towards him with my giant hammer
Ok I loved his character how he was pulling the strings all alone but man this could have been one of the coolest bosses fromsoft has made if he came at us with abilities from every boss we defeated. He even had that mechanic but man the memes of him just getting yoinked out of the fight are spot on they did my man dirty.
"Sit on him Smough"
"And, Sir Gideon Ofnir, THE ALL-SPAMMING!!!"
"I know a thousand Jutsu and now I WILL USE THEM ALL !"
That's why he is called Sir Gideon Ofnir the All coping.
“You can’t steal from the dead, it’s called archeology.” -Giddeon Ofnir Probably
That fight lasted like 30 seconds when I went to say hi to him.
Doesn’t know what’s going on in the shadow realm though, does he? See all this new stuff I’ve got, Gideon, and you can’t use it
Man literally let's us set up a whole ass one shot while he's sitting there monologuing. No wonder that frail pringle made us do his dirty work.
He will only have the bosses spells if you tell him about them and get his rewards in the Roundtable Hold. You can still get the rememberance's but just dont tell Gideon.
Fighting him as a caster is actually fun as heck
You can't keep making Elden Ring content that's THIS good, I haven't played it yet
Gideon: memorizing all of these spells
Strength builds: haha big stick go bonk
It was probably those dung scarab thingies that stole the spells for him.
They often drop AOWs, sorceries and incantations out in the world.
They probably picked them off the bodies of fallen warriors.
